Week 15 Player Fantasy Rankings - Running Backs

By Jesse Pantuosco, Fantasy Sports Writer

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - They say fantasy is all about opportunity.

So here's your chance, Shane Vereen.

We call this a perfect storm. Stevan Ridley can't hold onto the football and Tom Brady's favorite target in the passing game, Rob Gronkowski, is out for the year with a torn ACL.

That means Sunday's game against Miami is going to be a "Shane-Fest" for the Patriots. And why not? The third-year halfback out of California produced 21 fantasy points last week in a win over Cleveland. Fifteen of those came through the air as Vereen reeled in a career-best 153 yards on 12 catches. He also added a six-yard rushing touchdown at the end of the third quarter.

Vereen has only ran the ball 38 times in five games this season but he's made up for the lack of carries by catching almost everything that's been thrown his way. Even after missing eight games with a broken wrist, he still has 40 catches, which ranks 13th among running backs. His 74.6 ypg average as a receiver is better than Dez Bryant, Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin.

Consider him Darren Sproles 2.0. And while you're at it, consider him a top-20 running back for Week 15. We have Vereen at No. 17 right between fellow hybrid back Danny Woodhead and Falcons vet Steven Jackson.
