Minnesota Timberwolves Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Corey Brewer, F11/26/2014 10:32:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves small forward Corey Brewer scored a team-high 19 points during Wednesday's loss to the Bucks.
Insight: Brewer also chipped in six rebounds, three assists, three steals, but did have seven turnovers.
Mo Williams, PG11/26/2014 3:02:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams missed the shootaround on Wednesday and is a game-time decision against the Bucks.
Insight: Williams has been sick for several days, so its a definite possibility rookie Zach LaVine gets the start on Wednesday.
Ricky Rubio, G11/25/2014 7:14:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio (severe ankle sprain) is hoping to be back around Christmas week, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.
Insight: Mo Williams has played very well the past four games, averaging 13.3 ppg and 7.3 apg over that span and should be expected to continue to play at this level.
Mo Williams, PGHot11/25/2014 1:35:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams has stepped up his game over the past week.
Insight: Williams is averaging 13.3 ppg and 7.3 apg over the past four and should be expected to continue to play at this level. Starter Ricky Rubio isn't expected back for another four weeks.
Nikola Pekovic, C11/25/2014 1:29:00 PM
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic is dealing with multiple issues and hopes to start practicing this week.
Insight: He's missed three games with a wrist, ankle and personal issues. He's averaging 11.9 ppg, 8.1 rpg this season, so whenever he returns he should go right back into the starting lineup.
Kevin Martin, G11/24/2014 8:21:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin will have wrist surgery, causing him to miss the next six weeks.
Insight: Corey Brewer will continue to start, with Andrew Wiggins and Chase Budinger seeing a bump in value.
Thaddeus Young, F11/24/2014 2:21:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young practiced Monday and is on pace to return for Wednesday's game
Insight: Young missed time due to the passing of his mother. He's seeing almost 32 mpg and averaging 14.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.6 spg. That's not quite as good as last season, but its a new team and it takes time to adapt.
Andrew Wiggins, G11/22/2014 10:29:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins scored a career-high 29 points in Saturday's loss to Sacramento.
Insight: He was 9-of-22 from the floor and 9-of-10 from the line. Wiggins also chipped in five rebounds, two assists, two 3-pointers, four steals, one block, and one turnover.
Kevin Martin, G11/22/2014 9:53:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin will be examined in the next few days to determine whether he needs wrist surgery according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Insight: For fantasy purposes, it doesn't really matter if he needs surgery or not because team beat writer Jerry Zgoda projects his recovery time to be at least six weeks either way.
Kevin Martin, G11/21/2014 2:57:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin, who scored 37 points on Wednesday as Minnesota killed New York, 115-99, suffered a fractured right wrist sometime in the game.
Insight: Martin is out indefinitely. Corey Brewer will likely jump into the starting lineup.
Kevin Martin, G11/19/2014 10:31:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin scored 37 points on Wednesday as Minnesota killed New York, 115-99.
Insight: Martin shot 14-of-20 from the field on his way to scoring a season-high 37 points. He was also 7-for-11 from the 3-point line as Minnesota shot well over 60 percent from downtown in the first half. The Timberwolves finished 11-for-22 from behind the arc.
Mo Williams, PG11/19/2014 7:48:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves guard Mo Williams will start on Wednesday against the Knicks.
Insight: Williams takes over for Zach LaVine, who has started the last four games, all losses, for Minnesota. The Timberwolves are looking for someone to step up at point guard since Ricky Rubio will be out for several weeks.
Nikola Pekovic, C11/17/2014 2:14:00 PM
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic missed time in Saturday's game and should be considered questionable for Wednesday's game against New York due to a sore right foot.
Insight: He's scored just six total points in the past two games, so even if he plays you have no guarantees you will like the results. He's averaging 11.9 ppg, 7.1 rpg this season.
Kevin Martin, G11/16/2014 10:45:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin led Minnesota with 34 points in a loss against the Mavericks on Saturday.
Insight: Martin shot very well, shooting 12-for-17, including 4-for-6 from the 3-point line and 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. He also had three rebounds and an assist.
Andrew Wiggins, G11/14/2014 10:19:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins scored a career-high 20 points in Friday's blowout loss to New Orleans.
Insight: Minnesota somehow lost 139-91, but Wiggins was 7-of-10 from the field, 4-of-6 from the line, and 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. He also had five rebounds, one assist, and three turnovers.
Zach LaVine, G11/10/2014 4:48:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves point guard Zach LaVine will start at point guard while Ricky Rubio is out with his ankle injury according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
Insight: This is somewhat of a surprise because the rookie LaVine was picked over veteran Mo Williams for the starting role. Clearly, Minnesota is not interested in winning now. If there is a guy owners are willing to cut, taking a risk on LaVine is not a bad idea.
Andrew Wiggins, G11/9/2014 11:18:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins shot 3-of-9 from the field in Saturday's loss to the Heat.
Insight: He was 4-of-5 from the line, and had 10 points, two assists, one rebound, and one turnover. Wiggins is now averaging 9.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg, and 1.2 spg, and will continue to be inconsistent, especially early on.
Nikola Pekovic, C11/8/2014 9:54:00 PM
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic shot 6-of-10 from the field, for a team-high 19 points Saturday night.
Insight: He was also 7-of-7 from the line, and chipped in 11 rebounds and one steal. Pekovic should continue to be a solid fantasy option all season long.
Ricky Rubio, G11/8/2014 7:14:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will be out indefinitely due to a severe ankle sprain.
Insight: The estimated recovery time is 7-to-8 weeks, which hurts owners a ton. Surprisingly Zach LaVine is starting on Saturday, but we still like Mo Williams as a waiver pickup, as he should still see 25-30 minutes per game.
Ricky Rubio, G11/8/2014 10:37:00 AM
Description: X-rays on Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio's ankle were negative according to Bleacher Report.
Insight: That is good news but coach Flip Saunders said the point guard is still expected to miss a good amount of time. He looks like the injury Rubio suffered on Friday was a high ankle sprain. This usually keeps players out for multiple weeks, which means fire up Mo Williams in standard fantasy leagues.
Kevin Love, F11/8/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love did not continue his hot 3-point shooting, but scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the victory over the Nuggets.
Insight: Love missed all five of his 3-point attempts, but still made six field goals and led the team in rebounds. He also had an assist and block.
Kevin Martin, G11/7/2014 9:51:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin shot below 30 percent from the 3-point line but still led the team with 21 points.
Insight: Martin made seven field goals and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the line. He also chipped in two rebounds and five assists.
Mo Williams, PG11/7/2014 8:36:00 PM
Description: Minnesota guard Mo Williams started the second half of Friday's game against the Magic.
Insight: Starting point guard Ricky Rubio left with an ankle sprain in the first half, and it looked serious. Williams should get more minutes with Rubio out, which makes Williams a likely addition to a lot of fantasy teams.
Ricky Rubio, G11/7/2014 8:01:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio left Friday's game against the Magic with an ankle injury.
Insight: Rubio rolled his ankle while driving the lane for a layup. It looked like it could be a serious ankle sprain, but there are no official reports just yet. He had to be helped to the locker room. UPDATE: The Timberwolves are calling Rubio's injury an ankle sprain, and the point guard needs an X-ray.
Andrew Wiggins, G11/5/2014 9:57:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins had the best game of his young NBA career on Wednesday.
Insight: Wiggins scored 17 points against the Nets, shooting 7-for-12 from the field and making his one 3-point attempt. He shot 2-for-4 from the line as well. Before Wednesday, Wiggins' previous career-high in points was eight.
Kevin Martin, G11/5/2014 9:51:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin made four 3-pointers and all six of his free throws on his way to 26 points on Wednesday.
Insight: Martin and the Timberwolves beat the Nets, 98-91. Martin also had seven rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Kevin Love, F11/5/2014 10:14:00 AM
Description: Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love scored a team-high 22 points in Tuesday's loss to Portland.
Insight: He played a nice game, going 7-of-14 from the field and 3-of-3 from the line, while chipping in 10 rebounds and five 3-pointers. Love is averaging 19.0 ppg and 13.3 rpg early on, this season.
Thaddeus Young, F11/2/2014 12:46:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young was tested for a concussion after colliding with Jimmy Butler in Saturday's game.
Insight: Young passed all his tests and should be ready to go. He's going to see a lot of minutes this season and should be a solid fantasy option. He's currently averaging 17.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.7 spg.
Kevin Martin, G11/2/2014 10:14:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin dropped 33 points to lead all scorers in Saturday's Bulls-Timberwolves game, but it wasn't enough for Minnesota.
Insight: Martin made 9-of-14 shots, including four 3-pointers, and all 11 free throws. He also had seven rebounds and two assists. Martin's problem has never been producing, it's always been staying on the court. If he can stay healthy, Martin must be owned in all standard fantasy leagues.
Ricky Rubio, G10/31/2014 9:02:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio has agreed to a four-year contract extension with Minnesota, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
Insight: The deal is a $55 million extension, and it makes sense for the Timberwolves to lock up a popular player, after losing Kevin Love in the offseason.
Ricky Rubio, G10/31/2014 12:28:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio is averaging 11 shot attempts per game over the first two contests of 2014-15 and 11.5 ppg.
Insight: We like that his shot attempts are up from 8.2 last season and his career average of 8.8. At this current level and with his passing ability he starts to garner much more fantasy value.
Kevin Love, F10/31/2014 12:16:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love played well in the "Chris Bosh" role for his new team.
Insight: He had 19 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and made three 3-pointers. Expect a double-double from Love almost everytime out, but the 26.1 ppg from last season is likely to take a significant hit as we saw in Game 1.
Kevin Love, F10/30/2014 10:43:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love played well in his team debut.
Insight: He had 19 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, and made three 3-pointers. Expect a double-double from Love almost everytime out.
Andrew Wiggins, G10/30/2014 10:28:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins continued his slow start to the season.
Insight: After having only six points on opening night, Wiggins followed that performance with eight more points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. There will be growing pains for the rookie, especially early on.
Nikola Pekovic, C10/30/2014 10:26:00 PM
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic rebounded from a poor opening game.
Insight: He had only five points and eight rebounds on Wednesday night, but came to life on Thursday, with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Pekovic should be around these numbers all season long.
Andrew Wiggins, G10/30/2014 1:28:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins was a bit on the dull side in his NBA debut, scoring six points, three rebounds an assist and a pair of steals in 19 minutes.
Insight: Wiggins was dealing with a sore back so perhaps he didn't push it. Like most rookies, the first season will be filled with ups and downs and fantasy owners who pick him in non-dynasty leagues should be aware of the inconsistent nature of the selection.
Ronny Turiaf, C10/30/2014 12:31:00 PM
Description: Minnesota backup center Ronny Turiaf is questionable for Thursday's game against Detroit.
Insight: Turiaf has no fantasy value behind centers Nikola Pekovic and Gorgui Dieng.
Glenn Robinson III, F10/30/2014 12:31:00 PM
Description: Glenn Robinson III is questionable for Thursday's game against Detroit due to a sprained ankle.
Insight: Robinson is buried on the depth chart and wouldn't have value even if healthy.
Kevin Martin, G10/30/2014 12:28:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin (ankle) did not play on Wednesday and is questionable for Thursday's game against Detroit.
Insight: Martin is injury-prone, but can produce when on the court. He averaged 19.1 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.8 apg in 68 games last season.
Kevin Love, F10/30/2014 12:19:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love is dealing with bruised ribs but is expected to play Thursday.
Insight: Love practiced Wednesday so fantasy owners should not be concerned. It will be interesting to see how he works with two other elite players - LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
Thaddeus Young, F10/29/2014 10:33:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young looked fantastic in his team debut.
Insight: He was 10-of-18 , including two 3-pointers, for 26 points. Young also chipped in four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. It looks like he is picking up where he left off in Philadelphia, last season.
Kevin Martin, G10/29/2014 7:07:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin (ankle) will not play on Wednesday.
Insight: He was injured yesterday, but is not expected to be out long. Consider him day-to-day.
J.J. Barea, G10/27/2014 4:37:00 PM
Description: Guard J.J. Barea was signed by the Dallas Mavericks after being released by Minnesota
Insight: Barea returns to the team he played for from 2006-10. He'll be in a crowded backcourt with Jameer Nelson, Raymond Floyd and Devin Harris and likely has no fantasy value.
Andrew Wiggins, G10/27/2014 3:22:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins practiced yesterday and should be ready for the season opener.
Insight: Wiggins was dealing with a sore back. Like most rookies, the first season will be filled with ups and downs and fantasy owners who pick him in non-dynasty leagues should be aware of the inconsistent nature of the selection.
Kevin Love, F10/22/2014 6:31:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love is still a fantasy stud this season.
Insight: It can be argued that Love is no longer a top-five pick, but his ability to grab rebounds, score and shoot a high percentage makes him the top center in fantasy. He will take fewer shots this season with a better team, but his field goal percentage should go up. Some experts have speculated his rebound numbers could go down with LeBron James, but we doubt that. Cleveland traded for Love to have a dominanting presence on the boards to help King James.
Anthony Bennett, F10/21/2014 10:40:00 PM
Description: Minnesota forward Anthony Bennett came off the bench to score 20 points on Friday versus the Spurs.
Insight: Bennett shot 9-for-14 from the field. He didn't do much else, though, with three rebounds, three steals and one assist.
J.J. Barea, G10/18/2014 11:21:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves guard J.J. Barea is not a recommended fantasy option for the upcoming season.
Insight: He is buried on the depth chart behind Ricky Rubio and Mo Williams, and as a result should be left off owners' rosters during draft day.
Anthony Bennett, F10/18/2014 11:18:00 AM
Description: Minnesota forward Anthony Bennett came off the bench to score 20 points on Friday versus the Spurs.
Insight: Bennett shot 9-for-14 from the field. He didn't do much else, though, with three rebounds, three steals and one assist.
Andrew Wiggins, G10/18/2014 11:15:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves guard Andrew Wiggins looks like he will begin the season coming off the bench.
Insight: With Kevin Martin locked in as the starting shooting guard, Wiggins may need to prove he can play the small forward position as well, for owners to trust him on their fantasy teams. He is currently projected to go in the ninth round, but there are questions to how much playing rtime he is going to receive. We still love this kid's potential, but drafting him in the ninth round may be a little too rich for our taste.
Mo Williams, PG10/18/2014 11:11:00 AM
Description: Minnesota guard Mo Williams will open up the season as Ricky Rubio's backup.
Insight: He played 24.8 minutes per game last season in Portland, his lowest average since his rookie season. In that time Williams averaged 9.7 points per game, 4.3 assists per game, and made 1.1 three-pointers per game. With Williams competing for playing time with fellow backup J.J. Barea, owners should target him late in drafts, or even leave him undrafted.
Ricky Rubio, G10/18/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio needs to take a step forward during his fourth NBA season.
Insight: He just has not broken out like many people have expected him to do. Rubio averaged 9.5 points per game, 8.6 assists per game, 2.3 steals per game, and shot .381 from the field last season. While his assist and steal numbers are good, Rubio has a career-average of 2.9 turnovers per game, and along with a poor field goal percentage, his current ADP in the late fourth round, is a little high for our liking.
Kevin Martin, G10/18/2014 11:04:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin continues to be an underrated player heading into the season.
Insight: He averaged 19.1 points per game, 1.0 steals per game, and made 1.7 three-pointers per game last season. Martin have a chance to increase those numbers this year, with no Kevin Love, and as a result owners should target him starting in the seventh round.
Corey Brewer, F10/18/2014 11:01:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves small forward Corey Brewer is penciled in as the starting small forward to begin the season.
Insight: He started 81 games for Minnesota last season and put up some solid numbers (12.3 PPG, 1.9 SPG, 48% FG). Brewer does not have anyone pushing him for his starting spot, so he should be able to at least duplicate those numbers. Target him towards the end of your drafts.
Nikola Pekovic, C10/18/2014 10:58:00 AM
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic will look to stay healthy in 2014-15.
Insight: He played only 54 games last season, but was still productive (17.4 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 54% FG). With Kevin Love out of town, Pekovic will be one of the go-to guys for the Timberwolves, and will have a great chance to increase his numbers, all around.
Thaddeus Young, F10/18/2014 10:55:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves forward Thaddeus Young will look to be a big-time player during his first year in Minnesota.
Insight: Young had a very nice season in Philadelphia in 2013-14, and will have the opportunity to duplicate his some of his numbers (17.9 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 2.1 SPG) with the Timberwolves. He should be targeted starting in the late fourth round.
Mo Williams, PG10/11/2014 10:26:00 AM
Description: Guard Mo Williams had a great performance in a preseason game on Friday night.
Insight: Williams scored 19 points and had six rebounds, seven assists and three steals. He came off the bench in the game, but Flip Saunders has stated Williams could start in the backcourt with Ricky Rubio.
Thaddeus Young, F 8/23/2014 2:59:00 PM
Description: The Timberwolves have acquired Thaddeus Young as part of a three-team trade with Cleveland and Philadelphia.
Insight: Minnesota did a good job to get Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Young for Kevin Love, who made it known that he was leaving in free agency anyway. Young was an underrated fantasy option last season, averaging 17.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 threes, 2.1 steals (third in the NBA) and 0.5 blocks per game. He'll start for the 'Wolves and should be the top offensive option as the team tries to replace Love's 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.
Anthony Bennett, F8/23/2014 2:56:00 PM
Description: Anthony Bennett, the 2013 No. 1 overall pick, has been traded from the Cavaliers to the Timberwolves.
Insight: The initially rumored version of the three-team trade had Minnesota shipping Bennett to Philadelphia for Thaddeus Young, but the Timberwolves were able to snag Young for just Alexey Shved and Luc Mbah a Moute. Unfortunately, that means Bennett will be behind Young at power forward rather than starting for talent-starved Philadelphia. He should get his fair share of minutes but probably won't have much fantasy value.
Andrew Wiggins, G8/23/2014 2:52:00 PM
Description: The three-team trade between the Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers is complete and 2014 No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins is now a member of Minnesota.
Insight: Wiggins' fantasy value gets a nice boost from the trade, as he'll have to carry a much larger offensive burden than he would have had in Cleveland. Minnesota's starting lineup to begin the season will likely include Ricky Rubio, Kevin Martin, Wiggins, Thaddeus Young and Nikola Pekovic.
Kevin Love, F8/22/2014 4:34:00 PM
Description: Cleveland.com reports the Cleveland Cavaliers will officially trade No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins and former No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett in a three-team trade for Kevin Love. The Timberwolves will receive 76ers power forward Thaddeus Young as part of the trade as well. The deal will be finalized at midnight on Saturday after Wiggins officially signs his rookie contract.
Insight: Love's fantasy value takes a slight hit as it is unlikely he can maintain last year's 26.1 points per game average playing alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. But his potential on the offensive and defensive glass playing with the King is tremendous. Combine that with the fact Love had a career high in assists per game last year (4.4), he remains one of the best options at his position. Wiggins and Bennett look to be quality mid-round targets.
Mo Williams, PG7/28/2014 8:54:00 PM
Description: Guard Mo Williams has signed with the Timberwolves for one year and $3.75 million.
Insight: Williams was Portland's sixth man last season and averaged 24.8 minutes, 9.7 points, 4.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 74 games. While the 'Wolves roster isn't a finished product at the moment -- Kevin Love and Kevin Martin are on the block -- any trade would bring back players that will start ahead of Williams so he'll be a bench player regardless.
Kevin Love, F6/25/2014 8:37:00 PM
Description: The Cavs are unlikely to trade for Wolves forward Kevin Love. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo Sports
Insight: Cross another one off the list. Cleveland has plenty of assets (the No. 1 pick in tomorrow's draft, Anthony Bennett and Dion Waiters) but Love doesn't have any interest in playing there. Unless Love has a change of heart and decides he'd sign an extension with Cleveland, it's difficult to see this trade happening. Meanwhile ESPN's Chris Broussard said Wednesday there's a 50 percent chance Love gets traded on draft night. Boston, Denver and Golden State seem to have the best chance of landing the three-time All-Star.
Kevin Love, F6/21/2014 6:46:00 PM
Description: The Warriors appear to be pulling out of the Kevin Love sweepstakes. SOURCE: Marc Stein, ESPN
Insight: Golden State is hesitant to include Klay Thompson in a trade and that's a deal breaker for Minnesota. The Nuggets and Celtics remain in the running though it's possible the T-Wolves could wait until the trade deadline to swap Love.
Kevin Love, F6/18/2014 11:52:00 AM
Description: There's a growing sense that Boston will land Kevin Love in a draft day deal with Minnesota.
Insight: According to ESPN's Chad Ford, the C's are prepared to offer Minnesota two first-round picks this year, a collection of future No. 1s and the Wolves' choice of either Jared Sullinger or Kelly Olynyk. Ford believes it's the best offer the T-Wolves are going to get. Draft night is a week from Thursday. Stay tuned.
Kevin Love, F5/31/2014 4:33:00 PM
Description: Kevin Love is touring Boston this weekend to "check out the city and see what it's like." SOURCE: ESPN Boston
Insight: Love has been linked to the Celtics in trade rumors for quite a while and the interest seems to be mutual. Other teams interested in Love include Chicago, Golden State, Houston, Los Angeles, New York and Sacramento.
Kevin Love, F5/18/2014 9:33:00 PM
Description: According to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski, Boston could trade its first-round pick as part of a deal for Kevin Love.
Insight: It's an interesting idea but if Love really wants to play for a contender Boston probably isn't the right place for him. The Bulls, Celtics, Lakers, Knicks, Rockets, Suns and Warriors are all said to be interested in Love (26.1 ppg, 12.5 rpg in 2013-14) if Minnesota makes him available in a trade this summer.
Kevin Love, F5/18/2014 3:14:00 PM
Description: T-Wolves forward Kevin Love has requested a trade. SOURCE: Brett Pollakoff, NBC Sports
Insight: If he doesn't get it, Love is prepared to sign elsewhere when he becomes a free agent in 2015. None of this is surprising. Love has spent six seasons in Minnesota and has yet to appear in a playoff game. Trading Love is the best option for Minnesota as well, especially given the very real threat of him leaving as a free agent. Love has shown interest in playing for a number of different teams including the Bulls, Knicks, Lakers, Rockets and Warriors. The Wolves can work on a deal over the summer or they can wait until next year's trade deadline.
Nikola Pekovic, C4/13/2014 9:13:00 PM
Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic (ankle) is doubtful to return this season, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.
Insight: Rookie Gorgui Dieng should be owned in all leagues after he averaged 11.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 1.1 steals in his last 15 games.
Kevin Martin, G4/13/2014 8:51:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin (foot) will return to the lineup Sunday, according ot Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.
Insight: Martin missed the last five games with a sharp pain in his foot. He's averaging 19.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 threes per game this season.
Kevin Love, F4/13/2014 8:35:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves PF Kevin Love (elbow) is expected to play Sunday, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.
Insight: Love hyperextended his right elbow Wednesday and was a late scratch Friday. Stay tuned in case something changes prior to the 9 p.m. ET start Sunday.
Kevin Love, F4/11/2014 7:49:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves PF Kevin Love (elbow) was listed as probable for Friday's game but he won't play. SOURCE: Jerry Zgoda, Star Tribune
Insight: Love hyperextended his right elbow Wednesday but was able to play through it. He has been dealing with back spasms as well and the Wolves have nothing to play for.
Kevin Martin, G4/11/2014 7:17:00 PM
Description: T-Wolves shooting guard Kevin Martin (foot) is officially out Friday, according to Kent Youngblood of the Star Tribune.
Insight: He's dealing with a sharp pain in his right heel and will sit out for the fifth straight time. Chase Budinger is also out so J.J. Barea should see a good amount of minutes at shooting guard as a backup to Robbie Hummel.

Kevin Love, F1/25/2014 9:27:00 AM
Description: Minnesota power forward Kevin Love filled up the stat sheet with 26 points, 14 boards and eight assists Friday against Golden State.
Insight: Would you look at that? The Wolves have won three straight. Love has been surprisingly pass-happy during that stretch, averaging seven assists per game. He's been up to his usual tricks on the boards with five straight games with double-digit rebounds. The 25-year-old is headed to his third All-Star Game in a few weeks.
Alexey Shved, G1/24/2014 9:36:00 PM

Insight: It's his third All-Star Game. It's hard to find a player more deserving than Love, who is averaging 25.0 ppg and 13.0 rpg this season. Love's last All-Star appearance came in 2012.
Corey Brewer, F1/22/2014 12:53:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Corey Brewer's 19 points Tuesday at Utah were his most since Nov. 23.
Insight: Brewer has started all 41 games and played 32 minutes per game for the Wolves this season but he's only averaging 11.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists. His only above-average fantasy contribution is his 1.6 steals per game.
Kevin Martin, G1/22/2014 9:14:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves guard Kevin Martin suffered a laceration to his right pinky finger during Tuesday's game, but the finger isn't broken and didn't require stitches. SOURCE: foxsportsnorth.com
Insight: Martin's finger was bleeding badly and caused a delay in the game to clean the blood off the court. Minnesota doesn't play again until Friday so unless the finger swells up he shouldn't have to miss any time.
Alexey Shved, G1/21/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: Minnesota guard Alexey Shved apparently suffered a broken nose on Tuesday in the second quarter.
Insight: Shved has been inconsistent this season ... to be kind. He's shooting just 32 percent from the field and averaging half what he did last season.

Description: T-Wolves center Nikola Pekovic notched 27 points Saturday in a blowout win over Utah.
Insight: Pekovic went 12-for-17 with 14 rebounds and one block. With Minnesota in complete control for most of the night, Pekovic only played 29 minutes. He's having a career year and should be given All-Star consideration.

Description: Wolves forward Chase Budinger is on a minutes limit, according to a Minneapolis Star-Tribune report.

Description: Wolves center Nikola Pekovic dropped 26 points on the Bobcats Friday night in Minnesota.
Insight: And he did it in just 27 minutes of court time. Pekovic must really like January. Since the start of the month, he's averaged 22.4 ppg on 54.4 percent shooting. He's averaged ten boards per game over that span.
Kevin Love, F1/10/2014 10:19:00 PM
Description: Minnesota power forward Kevin Love turned in a complete effort Friday against Charlotte.
Insight: Love's harsh criticism of his teammates following Wednesday's loss to Phoenix seemed to make a difference Friday as the Wolves rolled to an easy 119-92 victory. Love, who played just 32 minutes, controlled the paint with 14 rebounds while also chipping in with 19 points and four assists. Love's next game is Sunday against San Antonio.

Insight: Mbah a Moute suffered the injury during last Wednesday's game. The 27-year-old is averaging just 4.2 points and 3.3 rebounds this season. As long as starters Corey Brewer and Kevin Love are healthy he has no fantasy value.
Chase Budinger, F1/8/2014 8:37:00 PM
Description: Wolves forward Chase Budinger has been activated for Wednesday's game against Phoenix. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo Sports
Insight: Budinger missed Minnesota's first 34 games while recovering from a torn meniscus. He's going to be eased back into action so don't expect anything fantasy-worthy in the early going.
Luc Mbah a Moute, F1/8/2014 1:12:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Luc Mbah a Moute (groin) will miss a third straight game Wednesday night, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune.
Insight: Mbah a Moute suffered the injury during last Wednesday's game. The 27-year-old is averaging just 4.2 points and 3.3 rebounds this season. As long as starters Corey Brewer and Kevin Love are healthy he has no fantasy value, and he'll be even less useful when Chase Budinger returns.

Description: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic had 16 points and 14 rebounds in just 23 minutes Monday at Philadelphia.
Insight: Minnesota was up 70-54 at the half and 105-74 after three quarters, so none of its starters played more than 29 minutes. Over his last 24 games, Pekovic has averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
Chase Budinger, F1/6/2014 10:17:00 AM
Description: Minnesota SF Chase Budinger is almost ready to return after his latest full court workout.
Insight: After two knee surgeries, the team is being conservative, but once back he could beat out Corey Brewer for the starting SF role. He's been a consistence 9.4 ppg scorer over his first four seasons which won't get him onto many fantasy rosters even when healthy.
Ronny Turiaf, C1/6/2014 10:14:00 AM
Description: Minnesota PF/C Ronny Turiaf (elbow) has been involved in some limited full contact work and may be back soon.
Insight: Turiaf doesn't provide much for fantasy owners. He's not a scorer, doesn't rebound much and provides the occasional block, but needless to say, he won't be a fantasy option in 2014.

Corey Brewer, F1/1/2014 10:25:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves forward Corey Brewer had five points, five rebounds, four assists, four steals and one block Wednesday against New Orleans.
Insight: Brewer has limited fantasy appeal because he doesn't rebound much despite being 6-foot-9, doesn't contribute assists and is a pitiful 3-point shooter. He does have 1.7 steals per game, but that's his only top fantasy skill.
Ricky Rubio, G1/1/2014 10:19:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves PG Ricky Rubio had a full statline with 14 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one 3-pointer Wednesday against the Pelicans.

Kevin Love, FHot12/30/2013 10:31:00 PM
Description: Wolves forward Kevin Love led all scorers with 36 points Monday in a loss to Dallas.

Nikola Pekovic, CHot12/23/2013 9:38:00 AM
Description: Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic was excellent in Sunday's loss to the Clippers.
Insight: It was Pekovic's best game of the season. The 34 points he piled on were a career-high while the 14 rebounds he tallied were his most in a game this season. Pekovic, who is averaging 12.4 ppg and 6.6 rpg for his career, has been a 20/10 player this month.
Kevin Love, FHot12/23/2013 9:32:00 AM
Description: Wolves forward Kevin Love exploded for 45 points, 19 rebounds and six assists Sunday in an overtime loss to the Clippers.
Insight: Love has been unreal this month. He's averaging 29.6 ppg and 14.1 rpg since the start of December. His 4.2 apg this season represents a new career-high. The Timberwolves are off for Christmas so Love won't be back on the court until Friday versus the Wizards.
Ricky Rubio, G12/20/2013 9:36:00 PM
Description: Timberwolves PG Ricky Rubio (illness) will try to play Friday against the Lakers, according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com.
Insight: Rubio has shot just 7-of-32 (.219) over his last three games and 35.2 percent for the season. He's still worth owning in all leagues because he's putting up 7.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game, but he certainly has more value in non-percentage leagues. As for tonight, he has a good matchup with Los Angeles down to their fifth-string point guard.

Insight: Love netted 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting while also contributing 15 rebounds. He's only scored fewer than 26 points once in the month of December. The 25-year-old is the closest thing there is to a guaranteed double-double.

Insight: Love, a 39.3 percent three-point shooter coming into this game, was just 2-for-11 from that distance on Monday. Brandon Bass and Kris Humphries both played solid defense on him throughout the game. Love (14 rebounds) should bounce back Wednesday versus Portland.

Insight: Martin hasn't shot over 50 percent in any of the last three games, shooting a combined 5-for-24 from the field (20.8 percent) and 2-for-11 from beyond the arc (18.1 percent). Perhaps the knee hurts more than he is admitting. Fantasy owners should stay away from now.
Kevin Love, F12/14/2013 9:13:00 AM
Description: Minnesota power forward Kevin Love was outstanding in Friday night's loss to San Antonio.

The UCLA product dominated the boards as usual, contributing 14 rebounds in 39 minutes. It's hard to find a weakness in Love's game. He's a top-ten fantasy player.

Description: Minnesota center Nikola Pekovic is averaging 17.3 points and 8.6 rebounds over his last seven games.
Insight: Pek (14.8 ppg, 8.6 rpg) is a solid contributor in both of those categories but his value is limited because he doesn't pick up many steals or blocks.

Description: For just the second time this season, Timberwolves shooting guard Kevin Martin failed to make a 3-point Wednesday against Denver. However, he still had 29 points because he went 11-of-11 from the charity stripe.
Insight: Martin has made 93.8 percent of his free throws on 6.0 attempts per game this season as well as 43.2 percent of his threes on 5.5 attempts per game. He's averaging 22.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.4 threes and should continue to thrive as Minnesota's No. 2 scoring option.
