Sacramento Kings Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Ramon Sessions, G10/25/2014 5:25:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Ramon Sessions should not be forgotten about heading into this season.
Insight: He has career averages of 11.7 points per game and 4.7 assists per game, and after averaging 15.8 points per game two seasons ago, Sessions easily holds value. He will most likely go undrafted, but owners should monitor his playing time early in the season.
Darren Collison, G10/25/2014 5:22:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Darren Collison has a chance to be a steal in fantasy drafts.
Insight: With Isaiah Thomas gone, Collison will be starting at point guard, and will have a great chance to improve on his 11.4 points per game, 3.7 assists per game, and 1,2 steals per game, averages from last season. Owners should think about drafting Collison beginning in the 10th round.
Ben McLemore, G10/25/2014 5:20:00 PM
Description: Sacramento guard Ben McLemore is nothing more than a late-round pick heading into the season.
Insight: He averaged only 8.8 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game, 1.0 assists per game, and shot 38 percent from the field. McLemore may raise those numbers slightly, but with rookie Nik Stauskas behind him on the depth chart, the numbers for both players will most likely be inconsistent.
Rudy Gay, F10/25/2014 5:17:00 PM
Description: Kings small forward Rudy Gay should continue to a valuable fantasy player.
Insight: In 55 games with Sacramento, Gay averaged 20.1 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 3.1 assists per game, 1.2 steals game, while shooting 48 percent from the field. These numbers are somewhat underrated, and as a result owners should not be afraid to pull the trigger on Gay in the third round.
DeMarcus Cousins, C10/25/2014 5:13:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is in line for a monster season.
Insight: After averaging 22.7 points per game, 11.7 rebounds per game, 1.5 steals per game, 1.3 blocks per game, while shooting 50 percent from the field last season, Cousins should easily be drafted toward the end of the first round.
Jason Thompson, F10/25/2014 5:11:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Jason Thompson will open up the season as the team's starting power forward.
Insight: He still is not a fantays-relevant player. At the very least, owners con monitor his prgress early on, but Thompson should remain undrafted.
DeMarcus Cousins, C8/15/2014 3:43:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins limped off the court in Thursday's Team USA practice, but the MRI revealed no structural damage.
Insight: Team USA and Sacramento fans along with fantasy owners can relax. The 23-year-old was a fantasy stud, averaging 22.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks in 71 games last season. He's also the best big man on Team USA and without him the team would be very small.
Isaiah Thomas, G7/11/2014 7:46:00 PM
Description: According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Kings restricted free agent PG Isaiah Thomas has agreed to a four-year, $27 million offer sheet with the Phoenix Suns.
Insight: The Kings will reportedly agree to a sign-and-trade for a $7 million trade exception and Alex Oriakhi. Sacramento didn't want to commit to the 5-foot-9 Thomas even though he averaged 20.3 ppg and 6.3 apg last season. The Suns are still expected to keep RFA Eric Bledsoe, so Thomas will become a third guard in 2014-15.
Darren Collison, G7/3/2014 12:53:00 PM
Description: Darren Collison has agreed to a three-year, $16 million contract with the Sacramento Kings, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times.
Insight: Collison averaged 25.9 minutes, 11.4 points, 3.7 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals with the Clippers last season, though he was much better in 35 starts (14.8 ppg, 5.3 apg, 2.5 rpg, 1.5 spg). Collison said he hopes to compete for a starting job and he may just do that if the Kings choose to let restricted free agent Isaiah Thomas walk. The Kings will be the fifth team the 26-year-old Collison has played for in six seasons in the NBA.
Rudy Gay, F6/22/2014 4:40:00 PM
Description: Kings small forward Rudy Gay has picked up his player option for next season. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: He'll wait until 2015 to become a free agent. Gay (20.0 ppg in 2013-14) seems to enjoy playing in Sacramento and could be willing to sign an extension later this offseason.
Isaiah Thomas, G4/22/2014 8:57:00 PM
Description: Sacramento will extend a qualifying offer to point guard Isaiah Thomas this offseason. SOURCE: Jonathan Santiago, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: That means that he'll be a restricted free agent and the team can match any offer he receives from another team. After the season Thomas (20.3 ppg, 6.3 apg) had in 2013-14, the Kings would have been crazy to let him walk.
Isaiah Thomas, G4/16/2014 9:32:00 PM
Description: Sacramento guard Isaiah Thomas is active for Wednesday's regular season finale against Phoenix. SOURCE: James Ham, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: It's his second game back from a quad injury. He's one of three Kings averaging over 20 ppg this season (DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay).
Rudy Gay, F4/16/2014 9:28:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay is back in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Phoenix. SOURCE: James Ham, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: He's been in and out of the lineup with back issues. If Gay scores nine points on Wednesday, it will be the second time in his career he's averaged at least 20 ppg.
DeMarcus Cousins, C4/14/2014 7:01:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins will be suspended for Wednesday's game against the Suns without pay for receiving his 16th technical foul of the season, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports.
Insight: Cousins has averaged a monstrous 27.9 points, 12.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.4 blocks over his last eight games, but he let his temper get the better of him again on Sunday and he'll miss the season finale. That 23-year-old will finish with averages of 22.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks in 71 games this season.

DeMarcus Cousins, C4/12/2014 10:32:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins notched 32 points, 12 boards, five assists, two blocks and a pair of steals Saturday in a loss to the Clippers.
Insight: Don't get too excited. The 32 points came on just 12-of-27 shooting (44.4 percent). Still, you have to respect Boogie's consistency. That was the 23-year-old's seventh consecutive double-double.

Insight: Thomas (20.7 ppg, 6.4 apg) has missed nine straight games. Ray McCallum has been a marathon man with Thomas out, averaging 45.1 minutes, 14.4 points, 7.2 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game.

Rudy Gay, F4/9/2014 9:25:00 PM

Insight: Gay was expected to play after he sat out Tuesday's game with a sore back, but he'll miss another one. His wife is also due to give birth, so he may miss Saturday's game at Los Angeles even if his back condition improves.
Reggie Evans, F4/9/2014 8:46:00 PM
Description: Kings power forward Reggie Evans (back) is expected to return Wednesday against the Blazers, according to Sean Cunningham of News 10 Sacramento.

DeMarcus Cousins, C4/9/2014 9:27:00 AM
Description: Boogie Cousins paced the Kings with 24 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks Tuesday in a loss to OKC.
Insight: Cousins (22.3 ppg, 11.6 rpg) is pretty much a guaranteed double-double any time he steps on the court. He's certainly deserving of making the All-NBA team, though voters might pass over him because Sacramento hasn't had a good season (27-51, third-worst record in the Western Conference).
Rudy Gay, F4/8/2014 9:44:00 PM
Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay (back) is officially out Tuesday, according to Sean Cunningham of News10 Sacramento.

Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay has a back injury and may not play Tuesday, according to the Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones.

Description: Kings power forward Reggie Evans (back) will miss Tuesday's game, according to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee.

Rudy Gay, F4/7/2014 8:30:00 PM
Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay may leave the team to be with his wife, who is nine months pregnant. SOURCE: Sacramento Bee

DeMarcus Cousins, C4/6/2014 8:55:00 PM

Rudy Gay, FHot4/6/2014 8:44:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay produced one of his biggest stat lines of the season Sunday in a loss to Dallas.
Insight: Gay posted 32 points, eight assists and six rebounds. The eight dimes tied a career-high. The 27-year-old has averaged 25 ppg on 50.6 percent shooting over his last five appearances. He's averaged just under 40 mpg during that span.
Isaiah Thomas, G4/6/2014 4:47:00 PM
Description: Sacramento point guard Isaiah Thomas will miss Sunday's game due to a bruised quad, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.

Description: Kings guard Isaiah Thomas (bruised quad) will not play Friday, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: Thomas missed his first game of the season Wednesday night. He's been a breakout star this season, averaging 20.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 6.4 apg. Ray McCallum started in his place on Wednesday but shot 3-of-14 in 43 minutes.
Derrick Williams, F3/28/2014 6:55:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Derrick Williams (illness) will miss Friday's game, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.

Insight: Thomas connected on nine of his 13 field goal attempts including 3-of-4 from long range. He's averaged 22.1 ppg since the All-Star break. That's almost a two-point improvement from what he averaged during the first half of the season (20.2 ppg).

DeMarcus Cousins, C3/17/2014 11:11:00 AM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins unexpectedly missed Sunday's game with right knee tendinitis, but should return Tuesday.
Insight: Cousins' production -- 22.2 ppg, 11.7 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.5 spg, 1.3 bpg -- is usually irreplaceable so hopefully he can return soon. Derrick Williams picked up extra playing time Sunday and made the most of it - 26 points, 11 rebounds.
Derrick Williams, F3/16/2014 9:43:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Derrick Williams took advantage of DeMarcus Cousins' absence due to knee tendinitis Sunday to score 26 points and grab 11 rebounds.
Insight: Williams had a similar game on Feb. 28, putting up 26 points and 12 rebounds, but he followed that up with a high of 10 points in his last eight games. The Kings have been rotating Williams, Reggie Evans and Jason Thompson at power forward and none of them really has fantasy value when Cousins is healthy because he's such a high-usage player. If Cousins remains out Williams may be able to put up some fantasy-worthy numbers, but nothing close to what he did Sunday.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot3/16/2014 9:42:00 PM
Description: Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas has scored 20+ points in three straight games.

DeMarcus Cousins, C3/16/2014 9:25:00 AM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins shredded the Bulls for 25 points, 14 rebounds and four steals Saturday at United Center.

Rudy Gay, FHot3/12/2014 9:57:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay drained 5-of-12 from the field and 16-of-19 from the free-throw line to reach the 20-point mark for the third straight game Wednesday against the Sixers.
Insight: Gay had 27 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals at Philadelphia. He has averaged 23 ppg on .486 shooting his last 11 games after a brief slump in mid-February. In 41 games with the Kings, Gay has made over 49 percent of his field-goal attempts.
Derrick Williams, F3/12/2014 6:42:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Derrick Williams will start at power forward Wednesday against the Sixers, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: The Kings have had a revolving door at power forward lately. They started Reggie Evans there Tuesday and Jason Thompson has logged 57 starts.
DeMarcus Cousins, C3/12/2014 9:40:00 AM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins couldn't find his stroke Tuesday against Detroit (5-for-15) but he made up for it by earning 14 rebounds and six blocked shots.
Insight: It's comforting to know that even when Boogie isn't hitting shots, he can still be a productive fantasy contributor. He's fourth in the league in double-doubles this season (39).
DeMarcus Cousins, C3/9/2014 9:25:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins had everything working Sunday against Brooklyn.
Insight: His teammates didn't (the Kings lost by 15) but that's a different story. Boogie totaled 28 points and 20 rebounds though it would have been better without the six turnovers he committed. Cousins' streak of 20-point games is now at five in a row.
Carl Landry, F3/8/2014 3:33:00 PM
Description: Sacramento will be without veteran power forward Carl Landry for the remainder of the season, according to james Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: Landry torn a meniscus in right knee. Even when healthy, he wasn't much of a fantasy option (4.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg in 18 contests). His minutes will go to Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams.
Royce White, F3/6/2014 4:47:00 PM
Description: The Kings have signed controversial forward Royce White to a ten-day contract. SOURCE: Kings on Twitter
Insight: White will get his feet wet in the D-League and depending on how that goes, he could get another ten-day contract with the big club. Even if White sticks, he's not likely to be a major fantasy asset.
Carl Landry, F3/6/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Sacramento will be without veteran power forward Carl Landry Wednesday is out indefinitely, according to coach Michael Malone.
Insight: Knee tendinitis has caused Landry to miss the last four games. Even when healthy, he isn't much of a fantasy option (4.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg in 18 contests). His minutes will go to Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams.

Insight: Knee tendinitis has caused Landry to miss the last four games. Even when healthy, he isn't much of a fantasy option (4.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg in 18 contests).
Carl Landry, F3/3/2014 9:18:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Carl Landry (knee) will miss a second straight game Monday, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: Landry is awaiting the results of an MRI on his sore knee. Jason Thompson (7.7 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and Derrick Williams (8.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg) should both see more minutes in Landry's absence.
Carl Landry, F3/3/2014 1:56:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Carl Landry missed Saturday's game against the T-Wolves and is questionable for Monday's game against New Orleans.
Insight: Landry has been battling a sore knee. Jason Thompson (7.7 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and Derrick Williams (8.9 ppg, 4.2 rpg) should both see more minutes in Landry's absence.
DeMarcus Cousins, C3/2/2014 9:20:00 AM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins had a big game Saturday in his return from a one-game suspension.
Insight: Boogie went off for 21 points, 17 rebounds and three blocked shots, though it wasn't enough to beat Minnesota (108-97). Fantasy owners should be aware that Cousins is one technical away from another suspension. We'll see if he can keep his cool Monday against the Pelicans.
Carl Landry, F3/1/2014 9:36:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Carl Landry is out for Saturday's game against the T-Wolves. SOURCE: James Ham, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: Landry has been battling a sore knee. With averages of just 4.2 ppg and 3.2 rpg, Landry hasn't done much to impress fantasy owners. Jason Thompson (7.7 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and Derrick Williams (9.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg) should both see more minutes in Landry's absence.
DeMarcus Cousins, C3/1/2014 12:25:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins served his one-game suspension and should be back in Saturday's lineup.
Insight: It's a shame such a talented player (22.3 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.9 apg) can't control his emotions. This isn't the last time this is likely to happen.
Carl Landry, F2/28/2014 9:29:00 PM
Description: Sacramento power forward Carl Landry (knee) will miss Friday's game against the Lakers, according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com.
Insight: Landry (4.2 ppg) was the projected starter at power forward earlier today with DeMarcus Cousins serving a one-game suspension, but Derrick Williams was announced as the actual starter and now Landry won't even play.
Derrick Williams, F2/28/2014 3:46:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Derrick Williams will start at the No. 4 at Jason Thompson at No. 5 with starter DeMarcus Cousins suspended for one game.
Insight: In 11 starts this season Williams is averaging 12.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.3 apg and worthy of a fantasy start if needed. This is a one-game opportunity only.
Jimmer Fredette, G2/27/2014 4:54:00 PM
Description: Jimmer Fredette's buyout with the Kings is official, according to nba.com.
Insight: The Kings took Fredette 10th overall in 2011 and proceeded to play him 15 minutes per game the next two and a half seasons. He has averaged an impressive 16.8 points and 2.5 threes per 36 minutes in his career and may be able to establish some fantasy value as a 3-point gunner if he lands with the right organization.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/27/2014 4:00:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended for a game and fined $20,000 for throwing a punch and then verbally abusing the referees. He'll miss Friday's game.
Insight: Cousins is a ticking timebomb and fantasy owners who selected him knew it. Now its time to pay the piper. It's a shame such a talented player (22.3 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.9 apg) can't control his emotions.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/26/2014 9:22:00 AM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins lost his temper again Tuesday in a loss to Houston.
Insight: Cousins' latest tirade included two technical fouls, giving him 15 for the season. If he picks up another, which is almost a certainty at this point, Cousins (16 points, six rebounds in 20 minutes) will be suspended for a game. The 23-year-old has now been ejected eight times in his four-year career.
Jimmer Fredette, G2/25/2014 6:50:00 PM
Description: Jimmer Fredette is close to being bought out by the Kings. SOURCE: Brian Windhorst, ESPN
Insight: Fredette's two and a half year tenure in Sacramento didn't produce many highlights and it will be interesting to see who goes after him in free agency. The Knicks could be a possibility, especially now that Raymond Felton is facing gun charges. Fredette has averaged 5.9 ppg this season while shooting 49.3 percent from three-point range.
Rudy Gay, F2/23/2014 10:37:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay played a big role in Sunday's win against Denver.
Insight: Gay shot 52.2 percent from the field for 32 points. That represents Gay's highest point total in almost a month (January 31st against Dallas). Sunday also marked Gay's 11th double-double of the season.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot2/23/2014 10:32:00 PM
Description: Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas generated a team-high 33 points on 12-of-16 shooting Sunday in a win against the Nuggets.
Insight: Thomas is on a roll. Over his last four games, the 25-year-old has put up 25 ppg on 53.2 percent shooting (33-for-62). He's added 8.0 apg during that stretch. Fantasy owners should definitely be starting Thomas Tuesday against Houston.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/23/2014 7:33:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins will give it a go Sunday against Denver. SOURCE: Jason Jones, Sacramento Bee
Insight: Cousins had been a game-time decision because of a strained hip flexor. Even though he struggled Saturday against Boston (13 points and six turnovers before fouling out), Cousins is way too talented to leave on your bench.
Reggie Evans, F2/22/2014 9:18:00 PM
Description: Reggie Evans will be available for the Kings Saturday night, according to Jonathan Santiago of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: Sacramento acquired Evans from the Brooklyn Nets along with Jason Terry for Marcus Thornton on Wednesday. Evans has averaged 13.4 rebounds per 36 minutes this season but he's only averaging 13.3 minutes per game and will probably get less playing time on the Kings. He's behind Jason Thompson, Carl Landry and Derrick Williams on the depth chart.
Jason Terry, G2/22/2014 1:25:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn sent shooting guard Jason Terry to Sacramento Wednesday as part of a three-player trade, but the guard is expected to stay in Dallas rehabbing his bad knee.
Insight: Terry's had a miserable season to date (4.5 ppg, 1.1 rpg, 1.6 apg) and this will allow more minutes for Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/21/2014 7:17:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins will return Saturday against Boston. He missed Wednesday's game with a strained hip flexor. SOURCE: Kings on Twitter
Insight: Cousins has logged six straight double-doubles. He scored 31 points on 11-of-19 shooting when he played the Celtics in Boston earlier this month.
Roger Mason Jr., G2/20/2014 6:10:00 PM
Description: Miami traded guard Roger Mason Jr. to the Kings on Thursday. He has since been released. SOURCE: Ken Berger, CBS Sports
Insight: The Heat were just trying to clear a roster spot. Mason will be on a new team soon but we wouldn't expect him to have a major fantasy impact (3.0 ppg in 25 appearances this season).
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/19/2014 8:38:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is out for Wednesday's game against Golden State. SOURCE: John Dickinson, 95.7 The Game
Insight: Cousins (22.5 ppg, 11.7 rpg) is dealing with a strained hip flexor. With MRI results inconclusive, it's anyone's guess whether he'll play Saturday against Boston.
Reggie Evans, F2/19/2014 6:28:00 PM
Description: Reggie Evans' next game will be as a member of the Sacramento Kings. SOURCE: David Aldridge, TNT
Insight: What we're trying to say is, Evans has been traded. The deal sends Evans and Jason Terry to Sacramento with the Nets acquiring shooting guard Marcus Thornton. Evans joins a crowded frontcourt that already includes DeMarcus Cousins, Jason Thompson, Carl Landry and Aaron Gray. Just like in Brooklyn, Evans' fantasy value will be nonexistent.
Jason Terry, G2/19/2014 6:22:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn sent shooting guard Jason Terry to Sacramento Wednesday as part of a three-player trade. SOURCE: David Aldridge, TNT
Insight: Terry's had a miserable season, averaging a career-low 4.5 ppg on 36.2 percent shooting. Sometimes a change of scenery can help a player's fantasy value but we're still not expecting much from Terry.
Isaiah Thomas, G2/19/2014 11:23:00 AM
Description: Sacramento guard Isaiah Thomas' MRI revealed sprained ligaments in his left (shooting wrist), according to Adrian Wojnarowski of yahoosports.com.
Insight: Thomas has been playing through the injury and is determined to keep doing so, but he may need surgery in the future. It hasn't affected his play, as the guard has averaged 22.3 points, 5.9 assists, 1.6 threes and 1.2 steals his last nine games, though he has made just 19 of his last 75 3-point attempts (.253) after making 41 percent from behind the arc in his first 40 games.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/18/2014 8:40:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins' second MRI confirmed his strained left hip flexor and he is doubtful for Wednesday's game, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: Cousins suffered a strained hip flexor last Wednesday against the Knicks. He's officially day-to-day.
Jimmer Fredette, G2/18/2014 7:56:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Jimmer Fredette missed Monday's practice due to an illness but returned to practice Tuesday, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: He should be able to play Wednesday. Fredette is coming off a career-high 24-point game last Wednesday at New York and could see more minutes at shooting guard with both Marcus Thornton and Ben McLemore shooting under 39 percent from the field this season.
Jimmer Fredette, G2/18/2014 5:31:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Jimmer Fredette missed Monday's practice due to an illness, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Insight: He should be able to play Wednesday. Fredette is coming off a career-high 24-point game last Wednesday at New York and could see more minutes at shooting guard with both Marcus Thornton and Ben McLemore shooting under 39 percent from the field this season.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/18/2014 5:12:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins will have another MRI Tuesday after the first one was inconclusive, according to Sean Cunningham of News 10 Sacramento.
Insight: Cousins suffered a strained hip flexor last Wednesday against the Knicks. He's questionable for Wednesday's game against the Warriors.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/12/2014 10:57:00 PM
Description: Sacramento coach Mike Malone said he doesn't think center DeMarcus Cousins' strained left hip flexor is a serious injury, according to Aaron Bruski of nbcsports.com.
Insight: Cousins suffered the injury Wednesday against the Knicks. He'll be reevaluated Thursday or Friday and will be able to rest during the All-Star break.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/12/2014 10:21:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins suffered a strained left hip flexor Wednesday against the Knicks, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: Cousins finished with 19 points, 14 rebounds and one block in 33 minutes but had to miss the end of the fourth quarter and all of overtime. He was snubbed from the All-Star team so he has a full week to recover.
Jimmer Fredette, G2/12/2014 10:18:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Jimmer Fredette had a career-high 24 points (six threes) in 27 minutes to help Sacramento knock off the Knicks at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night.
Insight: With Marcus Thornton and Ben McLemore both shooting under 39 percent from the field this season, why not go to Jimmer at shooting guard?
Marcus Thornton, G2/11/2014 10:03:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Marcus Thornton had 11 points, three treys and a steal in 25 minutes Tuesday, but no rebounds or assists.
Insight: Thornton has just 47 assists in 45 games this season. He's also shooting under 39 percent from the field and is splitting time at shooting guard with rookie Ben McLemore (.368 FG%). Neither player is a particularly attractive fantasy option at the moment.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot2/11/2014 9:59:00 PM
Description: Sacramento guard Isaiah Thomas had 16 points and eight assists Tuesday against the Cavaliers.
Insight: Thomas has been playing through a sprained left (shooting) wrist, and while it may be affecting his long-range shooting it hasn't stopped his scoring. The point guard has averaged 23 ppg this month despite shooting 24 percent from 3-point range.
Isaiah Thomas, G2/10/2014 8:43:00 PM
Description: Sacramento guard Isaiah Thomas recently revealed that he's been playing with a sprained wrist. SOURCE: Sacramento Bee
Insight: The left wrist is Thomas' bad one. The 25-year-old still hasn't missed a game yet this season. The Kings will have a full week off after the All-Star break, which should give Thomas (20.3 ppg, 6.2 apg) some extra time to heal. He's not expected to miss Tuesday night's game in Cleveland.
Isaiah Thomas, G2/9/2014 9:30:00 PM
Description: Sacramento point guard Isaiah Thomas dropped 30 points on the Wizards Sunday in the nation's capital.
Insight: It didn't come in a winning effort but we doubt that will phase fantasy owners. Thomas has been a safe bet for 20 points a night almost all season. Any time Thomas racks up double-digit assists, it's an added bonus. If he's playing, you're starting him ... simple as that.
Marcus Thornton, G2/9/2014 4:52:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Marcus Thornton is good to go Sunday against the Wizards. SOURCE: Jason Jones, Sacramento Bee
Insight: He sat out Friday because of a bruised hip. Backup wing Travis Outlaw (4.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg) will move back to the bench.
Rudy Gay, F2/9/2014 2:50:00 PM
Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay (illness) will play Sunday against the Wizards.
Insight: Gay missed Friday's game and Saturday's practice due to his illness, but he's feeling better. The forward has been unstoppable with the Kings, averaging 20.8 ppg on 52.5 percent shooting. Derrick Williams played 42 minutes Friday but will go back to a reserve role.
Marcus Thornton, G2/8/2014 8:17:00 PM
Description: Sacramento shooting guard Marcus Thornton (bruised right hip) is questionable for Sunday's game against Washington, according to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee.
Insight: Thornton is still sore and participated only in non-contact drills Saturday. The guard has averaged 8.2 ppg in 17 games since regaining the starting job from struggling rookie Ben McLemore, but that includes a 42-point explosion on Jan. 24.
Rudy Gay, F2/8/2014 8:13:00 PM
Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay (illness) was unable to practice Saturday, according to Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee.
Insight: Gay missed Friday's game and is questionable for Sunday against the Wizards. The forward has been unstoppable with the Kings, averaging 20.8 ppg on 52.5 percent shooting. Derrick Williams played 42 minutes Friday and had 11 points, 12 boards and three assists but only shot 2-of-11.
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot2/7/2014 10:33:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center Boogie Cousins produced 31 points and 16 boards Friday in a loss to the Celtics.
Insight: Cousins has averaged 27 ppg and 14 rpg in three games since making his return from a sprained ankle earlier in the week. At 6-foot-11 and 270 pounds, the Kentucky alum is almost impossible to defend in the low post. As long as Cousins can control his temper, he should continue to be among the top centers in fantasy basketball.
Marcus Thornton, G2/7/2014 6:43:00 PM
Description: Sacramento shooting guard Marcus Thornton will sit out Friday against the Celtics. SOURCE: Baxter Holmes, Boston Globe
Insight: He's nursing a bruised hip. Rookie Ben McLemore (7.7 ppg) should see a heavy dose of minutes in Thornton's absence. Consider him day-to-day.
Derrick Williams, F2/7/2014 6:41:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Derrick Williams is back after missing Wednesday's game with a strained left foot. SOURCE: James Ham, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: He's going to see a lot of playing time tonight with Rudy Gay out, assuming his ailing foot can handle the heavy workload. If not, Travis Outlaw should get some run.
Rudy Gay, F2/7/2014 6:32:00 PM
Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay is out for Friday's game against Boston. SOURCE: Baxter Holmes, Boston Globe
Insight: He's been scratched with an illness. Derrick Williams will start in his place, though he could be on a minutes restriction while he deals with a foot injury. That could open up some playing time for journeyman Travis Outlaw (4.3 ppg) at the three.
Marcus Thornton, G2/6/2014 1:55:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Marcus Thornton is dealing with an injured hip and is questionable for Friday against Boston.
Insight: X-rays were negative, but he's sore, reports the Sacramento Bee. Rookie Ben McLemore should see extra minutes, though he hasn't done much with the minutes he's been getting (7.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.9 apg).
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot2/6/2014 9:45:00 AM
Description: Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins was large again on Wednesday and his 25-point, 10-rebound, four-assist game led the Kings to a second straight win.
Insight: It's not a coincidence that Sacramento's seven-game losing streak ended as soon as Cousins returned to the lineup. He's averaged 25 ppg and 13 rpg over his last two contests.
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot2/4/2014 8:30:00 AM
Description: Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) returned to action Monday against the Bulls and was back to his old self - 25 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, one bloack and a technical foul.
Insight: His fantasy owners have to be smiling after a six-game absence. It's a travesty that he's not on the All-Star team, but he's obviously a fantasy All-Star.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/3/2014 8:45:00 PM
Description: Kings coach Mike Malone confirmed that DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) will return to action Monday against the Bulls, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: Getting Cousins and his 22.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game back in the lineup after a six-game absence will be extremely helpful to fantasy owners.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/3/2014 5:22:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) will be a game-time decision Monday against the Bulls, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: Ham is hearing "positive things" regarding Cousins' availability for the game. The 23-year-old has missed six straight games. Update - Cousins says he will play. Not official, but its looking good for his return.
DeMarcus Cousins, C2/3/2014 5:00:00 PM

DeMarcus Cousins, C2/1/2014 7:39:00 PM
Description: As expected, Sacramento will again be without center DeMarcus Cousins Saturday against San Antonio. SOURCE: Dan McCarney, San Antonio Express-News
Insight: This will be Cousins' sixth consecutive absence. He's been sidelined with an ankle sprain since January 22nd. The Kings are 0-5 with him out of the lineup. Aaron Gray (1.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg) has been filling in at center.
Rudy Gay, FHot1/31/2014 11:09:00 PM
Description: Kings small forward Rudy Gay was unstoppable Friday in a 35-point, 12-rebound, six-assist effort.
Insight: Gay made 10-of-16 from the floor and 15-of-17 from the free-throw line. The 27-year-old has been a completely different player with Sacramento than he was with Toronto. In 23 games with the Kings, he has made 53.2 percent from the field and averaged 20.9 ppg. The Achilles injury that kept him out of four games hasn't been a problem the last two.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/31/2014 7:23:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) will miss Friday's game against the Mavericks, according to Tim MacMahon of espndallas.com.
Insight: Cousin suffered a severe ankle sprain on Jan. 22 and will miss his fifth straight game. It's nearly impossible for fantasy owners to fill a 22.6 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 3.0 apg gap and hopefully they won't have to do it much longer. Sacramento plays again Saturday.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/31/2014 2:29:00 PM
Description: Coach Mike Malone said he's not optimistic that Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) will be able to play Friday night against Dallas.
Insight: Consider Cousins likely to miss his fifth straight game after suffering a severe ankle sprain on Jan. 22. It's nearly impossible for fantasy owners to fill a 22.6 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 3.0 apg gap and hopefully they won't have to do it much longer. Next game is Saturday against the Spurs.
Rudy Gay, F1/30/2014 5:03:00 PM
Description: Kings small forward Rudy Gay (Achilles) was fine in practice Thursday and should be able to play Friday. SOURCE: Sean Cunningham, News10 Sacramento
Insight: Gay returned from a three-game absence Wednesday and scored 23 points but also thought he tweaked his strained Achilles. However, coach Mike Malone said the tweak was more in the middle of the foot and not the Achilles.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/30/2014 9:32:00 AM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) did not play Wednesday and will be another game-time decision for Friday's contest with Dallas.
Insight: Cousins missed his fourth straight game after suffering a severe ankle sprain on Jan. 22. It's nearly impossible for fantasy owners to fill a 22.6 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 3.0 apg gap and hopefully they won't have to do it much longer.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/29/2014 9:02:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) will not play Wednesday, according to James Ham of cowbellkingdom.com.

Isaiah Thomas, G1/29/2014 8:32:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Isaiah Thomas (illness) will play Wednesday against the Grizzlies, as expected. SOURCE: kings.com
Insight: A stomach illness limited Thomas to just 25 minutes Monday versus Utah. That's well in the past now and fantasy owners shouldn't hesitate to plug Thomas (19.8 ppg, 6.3 apg) into their starting lineups on Wednesday.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/29/2014 8:30:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) will be a game-time decision Wednesday against Memphis.
Insight: Cousins has missed the last three games after suffering a severe ankle sprain on Jan. 22. It's nearly impossible for fantasy owners to fill a 22.6 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 3.0 apg gap and hopefully they won't have to do it much longer.
Rudy Gay, F1/29/2014 8:28:00 PM
Description: Kings small forward Rudy Gay will return from an Achilles injury Wednesday against Memphis, according to kings.com.
Insight: Gay missed the last three games and most of a fourth with the strained Achilles. He has averaged 20.1 ppg on .523 shooting with Sacramento after making just 38.8 percent of his shots with Toronto.
Isaiah Thomas, G1/29/2014 4:55:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Isaiah Thomas is probable for Wednesday's game against Memphis. SOURCE: SB Nation

Insight: The next chance for Cousins' owners is Wednesday. It's nearly impossible for fantasy owners to fill a 22.6 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 3.0 apg gap and hopefully they won't have to do it much longer.
Rudy Gay, F1/27/2014 9:09:00 PM
Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay missed his third straight game Monday versus the Jazz. SOURCE: Sean Cunningham, KXTV Sacramento
Insight: He was a last minute scratch. Derrick Williams will handle the small forward duties while Gay continues to recover from a strained Achilles.
Rudy Gay, F1/27/2014 8:25:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay will dress for Monday's game against Utah though it's uncertain whether or not he'll actually play. SOURCE: James Ham, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: Gay has sat out the last two games with an Achilles injury. Derrick Williams (8.6 ppg) would get most of the minutes at small forward if Gay never ends up leaving the bench.
Rudy Gay, F1/26/2014 7:31:00 PM
Description: Kings coach Mike Malone said Rudy Gay (Achilles) is doubtful for Sunday's game, according to Jonathan Santiago of cowbellkingdom.com.
Insight: Malone said Saturday that Gay is ahead of DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) in his recovery from an injury, but both are not expected to play Sunday. Gay has averaged 20.1 points on 52.3 percent shooting in 21 games since joining Sacramento after hitting just 38.8 percent of his shots as a Raptor.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/26/2014 11:49:00 AM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) missed Friday's game and is doubtful for Sunday, according to Sean Cunningham of News10 Sacramento.
Insight: Cousins is still dealing with swelling in his left ankle. Prepare to be without him Sunday and Monday unless he dramatically improves. Perhaps he has a chance to return Wednesday against Memphis.
Rudy Gay, F1/25/2014 4:40:00 PM
Description: Kings coach Mike Malone says Rudy Gay (Achilles) is ahead of DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) in his recovery from an injury. Gay hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game.
Insight: Cousins is doubtful, but Gay has a better chance of playing after sitting out Friday due to a strained Achilles tendon. Gay has averaged 20.1 points on 52.3 percent shooting in 21 games since joining Sacramento after hitting just 38.8 percent of his shots as a Raptor.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/25/2014 4:38:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) missed Friday's game and is doubtful for Sunday, according to Sean Cunningham of News10 Sacramento.
Insight: Cousins is still dealing with swelling in his left ankle. Prepare to be without him Sunday unless he dramatically improves overnight.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot1/25/2014 10:06:00 AM
Description: Sacramento guard Isaiah Thomas is generating some late All-Star buzz. Friday's game against Indiana featured 38 points from the 24-year-old.
Insight: That ties a career-high Thomas set earlier in the week against Oklahoma City. Over his last four games, Thomas has exploded for 29 ppg on 43.9 percent shooting. Not bad for a guy who was taken with the last pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
Marcus Thornton, G1/25/2014 10:00:00 AM
Description: Marcus Thornton would not be denied Friday against the Pacers. The Sacramento shooting guard chipped in with a career-high 42 points on 16-of-27 shooting.
Insight: Seven of his 16 made field goals came from beyond the arc. He had just 15 points combined in his previous four games so most fantasy owners probably had Thornton on the bench while he was delivering the performance of a lifetime. We'll see if this strong outing earns him more minutes Sunday against the Nuggets.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/24/2014 8:43:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins won't appear in Friday night's game against Indiana. SOURCE: Jonathan Santiago, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: It's only the second game Cousins has missed this season. He suffered a nasty ankle sprain in his last outing Wednesday at Houston. It's unknown what Cousins' status is for Sunday's game versus Denver.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/24/2014 2:18:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins left Wednesday's game with a sprained ankle and was in a walking boot Thursday, so is unlikely to go Friday night or Sunday.
Insight: The good news is that he's listed as day-to-day which means tests must have showed no serious damage. Cousins has been a fantasy stud this season averaging 22.6 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.8 spg and not causing trouble as in the past.
Rudy Gay, F1/23/2014 6:31:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay has been diagnosed with a strained left Achilles. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo Sports
Insight: His MRI came back negative but he's still going to be in a walking boot for the next 3-to-5 days. Obviously Gay (19.8 ppg) won't be competing in Friday night's game against the Pacers.
Rudy Gay, F1/23/2014 10:36:00 AM
Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay hurt his Achilles Wednesday against Houston and is doubtful for Friday's game against Indiana.
Insight: Gay has played solid basketball in Sacramento, averaging 20.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.0 apg in 21 games for the Kings. His rebounding is down slightly after the trade, but his assists are at a career-high pace.
DeMarcus Cousins, C1/22/2014 9:14:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins left Wednesday's game with a sprained ankle and will not return. SOURCE: Sacramento Bee
Insight: By rule, Cousins isn't allowed to return because he wasn't able to shoot his free throws. With Boogie and Rudy Gay injured, backups Derrick Williams and Aaron Gray will both see heavy minutes tonight against Houston.
Rudy Gay, F1/22/2014 9:11:00 PM
Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay hurt his Achilles Wednesday against Houston. SOURCE: James Ham, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: He'll sit out the rest of the game. Gay finishes with four points in six minutes of court time. Derrick Williams (8.2 ppg) has taken over at small forward.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot1/21/2014 10:40:00 PM
Description: After a career-high 38 points on Sunday, Isaiah Thomas returned to earth, but still managed 20 points and 11 assists.
Insight: Thomas has become a fantasy stud in case you haven't noticed, averaging 19.5 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 6.2 apg, 1.4 spg and two threes per contest. He's been hot for the past two months.
Rudy Gay, F1/21/2014 10:36:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay went off against New Orleans to the tune of 41 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Insight: Gay more than made up to his fantasy owners for getting tossed from Sunday's game and scoring just six points.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot1/19/2014 9:45:00 PM
Description: Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas had a career-high 38 points while making 11-of-18 from the field, 12-of-13 from the free-throw line and 4-of-8 from behind the arc Sunday at Oklahoma City.
Insight: Thomas has averaged 37 minutes, 21 points, 7.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 2.4 threes and 1.3 steals in 21 games since the Kings traded Greivis Vasquez and gave Thomas the starting gig.
Rudy Gay, FHot1/19/2014 9:16:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay was tossed from Sunday's game against Oklahoma City for arguing with referee Ken Mauer.
Insight: Mauer gave Gay two consecutive technicals when he wouldn't stop yapping. The forward finished with six points in 27 minutes Sunday.
Carl Landry, F1/19/2014 6:15:00 PM
Description: Sacramento power forward Carl Landry (hip) will dress for the first time this season Sunday against Oklahoma City, according to James Ham of SB Nation.
Insight: Landry suffered a torn hip flexor in October and had to undergo surgery. He averaged 23 minutes, 10.8 points and 6.0 rebounds in 81 games with Golden State last season. He'll cut into the playing time of Derrick Williams and Jason Thompson and we may see a situation in which none of the three have fantasy value.
Ben McLemore, G1/17/2014 2:50:00 PM
Description: Sacramento rookie guard Ben McLemore left Wednesday's game with a sprained ankle, but will play Friday against Memphis, according to beat writer Jason Jones.
Insight: McLemore hasn't reached double-digitd since December and is shooting just 35.9 percent from the field. With a 7.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.0 apg average, he should only be on fantasy rosters in dynasty leagues.
Rudy Gay, FHot1/15/2014 10:40:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay put on another amazing shooting performance Wednesday against the Timberwolves.
Insight: Earlier this season, the only time we would have heard "Rudy Gay" and "shooting performance" in the same sentence was if the latter had the word "atrocious" in front of it, but he has turned things around since joining the Kings. Gay made 12-of-19 from the field and 6-of-6 from the foul line for 33 points Wednesday and has averaged 22.9 ppg on 56.7 percent shooting his last 10 games.
Ben McLemore, G1/15/2014 9:08:00 PM
Description: Sacramento rookie guard Ben McLemore left Wednesday's game with a sprained ankle and will not return.
Insight: McLemore has been abysmal this season after the Kings selected him seventh overall. He came into Wednesday's game shooting 35.9 percent from the field. Marcus Thornton will see more playing time with McLemore out.
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot1/14/2014 9:36:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins had another productive game Tuesday against Indiana.
Insight: Boogie netted 31 points in the Kings' 116-92 loss. Cousins (13 boards on Tuesday night) has contributed at least ten rebounds in each of his past 11 games. You could argue that he's been the best center in fantasy basketball this season.
Jason Thompson, F1/12/2014 9:51:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Jason Thompson was all over the boards Sunday night against Cleveland.
Insight: He led the way with 16 rebounds in 31 minutes of court time. Thompson also added eight points and two blocked shots. He's averaging almost ten rebounds per game for the month of January (9.6 rpg).
Isaiah Thomas, G1/12/2014 9:44:00 PM
Description: Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas piled on 26 points, four rebounds and six assists Sunday in a lopsided win over Cleveland.
Insight: It was a nice bounceback performance from Thomas, who was limited to just nine points on 2-of-13 shooting Friday against Orlando. The Kings may not be ready to compete in the Western Conference this season but they're building a nice foundation with Thomas, Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins. If they can add a talented lottery pick to the mix like Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker, this team could be lethal in a few years.
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot1/8/2014 9:16:00 AM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins has averaged 31.3 ppg and 12.7 rpg in his first three games of January.
Insight: He had 35 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 43 minutes Tuesday against the Blazers. Cousins leads the NBA with a usage rate (the percentage of a team's possessions a player uses while he's on the court) of 33.8 percent and is second with 9.1 free-throw attempts per game. The 23-year-old has realized his fantasy potential this season with 23.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.
Rudy Gay, FHot1/8/2014 9:14:00 AM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay has been a completely different player since joining Sacramento in a trade from Toronto.
Insight: Gay is taking 3.6 less field goals per game with the Kings than he did with the Raptors, but he's shooting 50.8 percent from the field compared to 38.8. He's averaging 20.5 ppg with the Kings after putting up 32 points in 31 minutes Tuesday against Portland.
Marcus Thornton, G1/7/2014 10:27:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Marcus Thornton started Tuesday for the first time since Nov. 9.
Insight: Thornton averaged 22 minutes, 8.6 points and 1.3 threes in 20 games off the bench. His return to the starting lineup bumped rookie Ben McLemore to the pine. McLemore has shot just 36.6 percent and averaged 8.4 ppg this season.
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot12/28/2013 9:51:00 AM
Description: DeMarcus Cousins dominated the Heat for 27 points and 17 rebounds Friday in Sacramento.
Insight: Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem were no match for Cousins in the low post. He's been an absolute machine lately, averaging 23.9 ppg on 52.5 percent shooting in the month of December. Cousins should be going to his first All-Star game in a couple months.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot12/28/2013 9:46:00 AM
Description: Sacramento guard Isaiah Thomas (22 points, 11 assists, seven boards) came within striking distance of a triple-double Friday in an overtime win over Miami.
Insight: It would have been the first triple-double of his career. Three of the five three-pointers the Kings made on Friday were shot by Thomas. He's averaging 19.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 8.4 apg over his last five games.
Ben McLemore, G12/20/2013 10:00:00 PM
Description: Sacramento rookie guard Ben McLemore tied a season-high with 20 points Friday at Miami.
Insight: McLemore has shot just 35.8 percent from the field in 19 games since joining the starting lineup, including 17.1 percent from Dec. 9-17. However, he's hit on 13-of-19 over the past two games.
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot12/20/2013 9:54:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins dropped in 27 points Friday at Miami.
Insight: That's actually his lowest point total in the last three games. He's averaged 28.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting 30-of-48 (.625) from the field in that span but the Kings lost all three games by a combined margin of 44 points.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot12/18/2013 10:40:00 PM
Description: Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas is averaging 39 minutes, 22.2 points and 7.2 assists per game since joining the starting lineup six games ago.
Insight: Thomas moved into the starting five when Greivis Vasquez was traded to Toronto in the Rudy Gay trade and has seen the expected uptick in production.
Rudy Gay, F12/18/2013 10:38:00 PM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay had 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting Wednesday.
Insight: Gay dealt with knee stiffness Tuesday but he was able to play 36 minutes Wednesday. He's scored at least 22 points in three of his four games since joining Sacramento and is shooting 52.9 percent with the Kings after hitting an ugly 38.8 percent with Toronto.
Rudy Gay, F12/18/2013 10:10:00 AM
Description: Kings forward Rudy Gay downplayed the seriousness of the knee stiffness he experienced Tuesday night in Charlotte. He should be ready to go Wednesday versus Atlanta. SOURCE: Jason Jones, Sacramento Bee
Insight: That's good news for fantasy owners. Gay has averaged 18 ppg in his first three games with Sacramento. Derrick Williams could see additional minutes if Gay is limited at all on Wednesday.
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot12/17/2013 10:30:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins gave the Bobcats everything they could handle on Tuesday night.
Insight: Boogie finished with 30 points, 17 boards, three steals and six assists. He went 9-of-13 from the field while shooting 12-of-15 from the line. Cousins' current five-game double-double streak is his longest of the season.
Rudy Gay, F12/17/2013 10:09:00 PM
Description: Sacramento small forward Rudy Gay had to leave Tuesday's game because of stiffness in his right knee. SOURCE: Charlotte Observer
Insight: He finished with just four points on 1-of-6 shooting. The Kings would likely turn to Derrick Williams at the three if Gay is unable to Wednesday against Atlanta.
DeMarcus Cousins, C12/14/2013 9:46:00 AM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins did a little bit of everything Friday against Phoenix.
Insight: Cousins posted 15 points on offense while dominating the boards with 16 rebounds. He tried his hand at distributing with five dimes and was also active on defense with five steals. Though he can be volatile at times, Cousins is one of the most complete centers in the NBA.
Rudy Gay, F12/12/2013 9:17:00 PM
Description: The other player in the Greivis Vasquez trade, Rudy Gay, should be available for Friday's game in Phoenix. SOURCE: James Ham, Cowbell Kingdom
Insight: Gay's fantasy value shouldn't change much now that he's in Sacramento. He's a volume scorer with good hops, meaning he's going to score about 20 ppg with a handful of rebounds and a few blocks here and there. Derrick Williams will serve as his backup.
Jason Thompson, F12/9/2013 10:08:00 AM
Description: Sacramento PF Jason Thompson may be the big loser in the Kings' trade for Rudy Gay if the team decides to use Derrick Williams at the big forward spot.
Insight: Rumors have the team looking to trade Thompson, but for now Williams could eat into Thompson's minutes. The Rider alum is current posting a less-than-desired 7.1 ppg and 5.6 rpg.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot12/7/2013 9:27:00 AM
Description: Kings point guard Isaiah Thomas is averaging 27 minutes, 17.4 points, 4.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.5 threes per game this season.
Insight: Thomas has outplayed Greivis Vasquez all season and while he hasn't started a game, he's still averaging more minutes than Vasquez. Thomas has started off December with an average of 19 points, 6.7 assists, 2.3 rebounds, 3.3 steals and 2.0 threes per game.
DeMarcus Cousins, C12/6/2013 10:02:00 AM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) is expected to play Friday, according to Jason Jones of sacbee.com.
Insight: Sacramento coach Mike Malone said Cousins was "fine" at practice Thursday after missing Tuesday's game with a sprained ankle. He's a fantasy stud averaging 21.7 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.6 spg and 1.2 bpg. Fantasy owners need him back in the lineup.
DeMarcus Cousins, C12/5/2013 7:27:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (ankle) is expected to play Friday, according to Jason Jones of sacbee.com.
Insight: Sacramento coach Mike Malone said Cousins was "fine" at practice Thursday after missing Tuesday's game with a sprained ankle.
DeMarcus Cousins, C12/3/2013 9:49:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins won't participate in Tuesday's game against the Thunder. SOURCE: Grant Napear, CBS Sports 1140
Insight: He's out with a sprained ankle. That might explain why Cousins was limited to 21 minutes the other night against Golden State. Patrick Patterson is likely to fill in at center. Jason Thompson could also see some time there.
Marcus Thornton, G11/30/2013 5:11:00 PM
Description: Kings guard Marcus Thornton saw his first playing time since Nov. 17 Friday against the Lakers.
Insight: He played 17:26 off the bench and had four points. Even if Thornton works his way back into the rotation as a backup to Ben McLemore, he won't have any fantasy value.
Derrick Williams, F11/26/2013 4:51:00 PM
Description: According to Jonathan Santiago of ESPN's TrueHoop Network, Kings coach Mike Malone said Derrick Williams will see playing time at both the three and the four. "I think a little bit of both," Malone said. "Right now obviously with losing Luc (Mbah a Moute), there's a void at the three spot. So Derrick is going to get time at the three and he's also going to get time at the four. We'll put him in as many positions as we can for him to have success and if that proves to be the four, then it'll be at the four. But right now, he's gonna play three for us and he'll also slide to the four at times."
Insight: Williams was traded from Minnesota to Sacramento for Luc Mbah a Moute Monday night. The former No. 2 overall pick averaged just 15 minutes, 4.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 11 games with Minnesota this season. He never fit in with the Timberwolves due to the presence of PF Kevin Love, but he could see enough time with the Kings to be a fantasy factor this season.
Derrick Williams, F11/25/2013 9:20:00 PM
Description: The Timberwolves have reached a deal that will send forward Derrick Williams to Sacramento. SOURCE: Jerry Zgoda, Minneapolis Star Tribune
Insight: Minnesota will receive Luc Mbah a Moute, pending a physical. Williams saw solid playing time last season while filling in for Kevin Love but now that Love's back, he's only getting about 15 minutes per game. It's possible the Kings could use him at the three though Williams is probably more suited to play power forward.
DeMarcus Cousins, C11/23/2013 8:47:00 PM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins was dominant in Saturday's loss to the Clippers (23 points, 19 rebounds, seven assists).
Insight: And of course, he gave Twitter users something to talk about by refusing to let teammate Isaiah Thomas shake Chris Paul's hand after the game. Boogie can be a handful for his teammates and coaches, but he hasn't given fantasy owners much to complain about this season (21.7 ppg, 10.7 rpg).
DeMarcus Cousins, C11/20/2013 5:52:00 PM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins suffered a dislocated shoulder Tuesday but he's expected to be fine for Wednesday's game, according to Sean Cunningham of news10.net.
Insight: Cousins shoulder popped out briefly but he didn't miss much time. He logged 35 minutes and had 27 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks and four steals in a win over Phoenix.
DeMarcus Cousins, C11/20/2013 9:19:00 AM
Description: Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins flexed his fantasy muscles by contributing 27 points and 12 rebounds Tuesday in a win over Phoenix.
Insight: Cousins logged 35 minutes, which is 17 minutes more than he played Sunday in a loss to Memphis. He's always a bit of a wild card but when Cousins (21.8 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 1.5 bpg, 1.9 spg) is on, he can be one of the most dynamic players in fantasy basketball.
Patrick Patterson, F11/19/2013 9:16:00 PM
Description: Sacramento power forward Patrick Patterson will be active for Tuesday night's game against Phoenix. SOURCE: Kings on Twitter
Insight: He had been questionable after missing Sunday's game with a bruised knee cap. Patterson has only reached double figures once in eight games this season.
Patrick Patterson, F11/19/2013 11:37:00 AM
Description: Kings power forward Patrick Patterson is questionable for Tuesday's game against Phoenix while dealing with a bruised left knee.
Insight: Patterson missed Sunday's game after warming up so he is close. He's averaging just 5.3 ppg and 4.8 rpg so isn't much value to fantasy owners.
Ben McLemore, G11/13/2013 10:35:00 AM
Description: Sacramento rookie guard Ben McLemore could start Wednesday against Brooklyn, according to sacbee.com.
Insight: McLemore has come off the bench in the first six games this season and the Kings have started out 1-5. While coach Michael Malone has not confirmed that McLemore will start, he promised to make changes to his lineup and praised McLemore this week. "Ben is such a big part of our team now and probably more importantly for our future," Malone said. "He’s going to be a big part of this team moving forward. And the way he played coming off the bench last game, shooting the ball with confidence, making plays, he’s our best athlete. He’s definitely one of the few bright spots in a very dismal 1-5 season." McLemore could replace Marcus Thornton in the starting lineup Wednesday.
Isaiah Thomas, G11/10/2013 10:33:00 AM
Description: After getting off to a blazing hot start, Sacramento point guard Isaiah Thomas seems to be running out of steam. The 17 minutes he logged Saturday against Portland were a season-low.
Insight: Thomas was held under 15 points for the second consecutive game (12 points on 6-of-10 shooting). Head coach Mike Malone's postgame comments suggested that Thomas, who hasn't started in a game yet this season, could ultimately replace Greivis Vasquez in the starting lineup if Vasquez doesn't get it together soon (just 9.0 ppg in six contests). That would elevate Thomas to must-start status in most leagues.
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot11/10/2013 10:29:00 AM
Description: Boogie Cousins went off for 33 points in Saturday's 96-85 loss to Portland.
Insight: The Kings center asserted himself in the low post by snagging 12 rebounds. Since stinking up the joint Tuesday versus Atlanta (just 11 points), Cousins has averaged 34 ppg on 53.1 percent shooting.
Greivis Vasquez, G11/9/2013 9:10:00 AM
Description: Kings point guard Greivis Vasquez scored 12 points with six assists and two steals in 32 minutes Friday night but he's still averaging just 26.5 minutes, 9.6 points and 4.2 assists per game this season.
Insight: Vasquez has started all five games but he's yielding playing time to Isaiah Thomas, who is averaging 29.5 minutes per game. If you have to pick one, Thomas is the player to own in this PG timeshare.
DeMarcus Cousins, C11/8/2013 9:15:00 AM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins blew up for 35 points, nine rebounds, four steals and one block over 37 minutes Friday night against Portland.
Insight: The talented-yet-troubled center had spent the fourth quarter on the bench in each of the last two games and averaged just 9.5 ppg in that span, but Friday was his third game with at least 24 points this season. He's averaging 21.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 2.4 steals per game.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot11/6/2013 9:50:00 AM
Description: Surprising Kings guard Isaiah Thomas had another solid game Tuesday in a loss to Atlanta.
Insight: Thomas (26 points on 8-of-17 shooting) is in the midst of a breakout season. Through four games, he's scoring nearly eight points per game more than his career average (13.1). His long distance shooting has been particularly impressive as he has now made seven of his 15 tries from behind the three-point line.
DeMarcus Cousins, C11/6/2013 9:15:00 AM
Description: Kings center DeMarcus Cousins watched the fourth quarter from the bench for the second game in a row Tuesday against the Hawks.
Insight: Are any of us really surprised? Cousins flipped out on Atlanta center Al Horford, which drew the ire of his head coach Mike Malone. He watched from the sidelines as Sacramento would eventually fall by a count of 105-100. Cousins finished with 11 points and six boards in just 29 minutes of action. It looks like Boogie still has a lot of growing up to do.
DeMarcus Cousins, CHot11/2/2013 9:29:00 AM
Description: Sacramento center Demarcus Cousins has stuffed the stat sheet in his first two games.
Insight: Cousins is averaging 27 points, 12 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks. Here's hoping the 23-year-old stays motivated after signing a new contract in the offseason.
Isaiah Thomas, GHot11/2/2013 9:26:00 AM
Description: Sacramento guard Isaiah Thomas made 9-of-13 shots, including all three 3-point attempts, in a 29-point effort Friday against the Clippers.
Insight: Thomas has come off the bench behind Greivis Vasquez in both games this season but he's averaging two more minutes per game than Vasquez.
Jimmer Fredette, G11/1/2013 6:33:00 PM
Description: The Kings won't pick up Jimmer Fredette's option for next season. SOURCE: Sam Amick, USA Today
Insight: He'll become a restricted free agent. Fredette hasn't panned out in the NBA, producing just 7.4 ppg in 130 games. Though he's not a true point guard, Fredette could be valuable to a contender because of his three-point shooting (38.4 percent from downtown in his career).
