Fantasy NBA
Brooklyn Nets Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Deron Williams, G9/26/2014 8:48:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams told CBSsports that he does not feel 100 percent, but he does feel 20 percent better than last season.
Insight: Williams apparently does his math like Brian Fantana from Anchorman. It is encouraging that Williams feels better, but who knows where he started. Williams should be the focal point of the offense without Paul Pierce this year, but it is concerning Williams is not 100 percent.
Brook Lopez, C8/18/2014 1:58:00 PM
Description: Nets center Brook Lopez has been cleared for all basketball activities and is expected to be ready for training camp, according to a SiriusXM NBA Radio report.
Insight: Lopez only played 17 games last season before injuries struck, but he was playing at a high level. He averaged 20.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 0.9 apg, 1.8 bpg before leg injuries ended his season. He's only played 96 of 246 regular season games over the past three seasons making him a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option.
Markel Brown, G8/12/2014 4:09:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Markel Brown broke a bone in his right hand while working out and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
Insight: The 6-foot-3 guard from Oklahoma State averaged 17.2 points last season. He'll be expected to take the backup role behind Jarrett Jack at shooting guard when he's ready to go.
Jarrett Jack, G7/9/2014 1:39:00 PM
Description: The Cavaliers have traded guard Jarrett Jack to the Nets as part of a three-team trade.
Insight: Cleveland dealt Jack and Sergey Karasev to Brooklyn and Tyler Zeller to Boston to clear enough cap space to offer LeBron James a max contract. Jack averaged 28.2 minutes, 9.5 points and 4.1 assists per game last season and could replace the departed Shaun Livingston in the Nets starting lineup. Brooklyn will be the seventh team Jack has played for in his 10 years in the NBA.
Kevin Garnett, C6/25/2014 8:39:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Kevin Garnett is expected to return for another season. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: Garnett (6.5 ppg, 6.6 rpg) would be leaving $12 million on the table if he chose to retire. It's clear KG doesn't have much left in the tank but he can probably make it through at least one more season.
Deron Williams, G5/22/2014 8:42:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn point guard Deron Williams is slated to have surgery on both ankles next Tuesday. SOURCE: Nets on Twitter
Insight: Ankle issues are likely to follow Williams the rest of his career. He's coming off a disappointing season (14.3 ppg, 6.1 apg) and fantasy owners shouldn't expect much improvement in 2014-15.
Paul Pierce, F5/18/2014 3:46:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Paul Pierce estimates he has one or two years left in his career. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Insight: Pierce (13.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg in 2013-14) is still good enough to be a starter but he can't carry the load on offense like he used to. If the Nets are unable to re-sign Pierce, the Clippers and Grizzlies would both be great fits for him. Pierce would also welcome a return to Boston but that's unlikely given the team's rebuilding efforts.
Deron Williams, G5/18/2014 3:39:00 PM
Description: The Nets haven't ruled out the possibility of trading point guard Deron Williams this offseason. SOURCE: Howard Beck, Bleacher Report
Insight: It could be tough to do that given Williams' enormous contract (three years, $63.1 million remaining on his current deal). Teams are also going to be skeptical about Williams' health after struggling with ankle issues for the second year in a row. Williams' scoring average this season (14.3 ppg) was his lowest since 2005-06.
Joe Johnson, G/F5/14/2014 9:43:00 PM
Description: Nets swingman Joe Johnson had 34 points on 15-of-23 shooting Wednesday in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, but he couldn't get a shot off with a chance to tie the game in the closing seconds.
Insight: Brooklyn inbounded the ball to Johnson with less than five seconds left, but he had it knocked loose and couldn't regain possession before time expired. Johnson was Brooklyn's best player during its 2014 playoff run, averaging 21.2 points per game on .533 shooting.
Deron Williams, GCold5/10/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams followed up his 0-of-9 shooting performance in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Heat by going 3-of-11 with nine points in Game 3 Saturday night.
Insight: Williams had 11 assists and the Nets won, 104-90, to cut Miami's lead to 2-1 in the series. However, Brooklyn is going to need D-Will to be better than its seventh-leading scorer if it's going to put real pressure on the Heat.
Deron Williams, GCold5/8/2014 10:19:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams was held scoreless in 37 minutes Thursday against the Heat.
Insight: Williams missed all nine of his shots while also committing two turnovers. For the last time D-Will was held without a point, you'd have to go all the way back to January 30, 2006 against San Antonio. The Nets are in rough shape heading into Saturday's Game 3 at Barclays Center.
Mirza Teletovic, F5/8/2014 10:08:00 PM
Description: Mirza Teletovic led the Nets with 20 points Thursday in a loss to Miami.
Insight: He shot 6-of-9 from three-point range and 7-for-12 overall. After beating the Heat four times in a row during the regular season, Brooklyn hasn't shown much life in its first two playoff games against them. The Nets will have a chance to cut into Miami's 2-0 lead Saturday in Game 3 at Barclays Center.
Joe Johnson, G/F5/4/2014 4:09:00 PM
Description: Joe Johnson delivered 26 points Sunday in Brooklyn's series-clinching win over Toronto.
Insight: Johnson was on the court for all but three minutes on Sunday. He averaged 21.9 ppg for the series, a significant improvement over the 15.8 ppg he put up during the regular season. The Nets will face second-seeded Miami in the next round. Brooklyn won all four meetings during the regular season.
Joe Johnson, G/FHot5/2/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Nets G/F Joe Johnson has upped his game in the playoffs, averaging 21.6 ppg over the first five contests.
Insight: The 32-year-old was obviously saving himself for the postseason. He's playing eight more minutes per game and scoring almost six points a game more. That's why they brought him to Brooklyn.
Joe Johnson, G/FHot4/30/2014 10:40:00 PM
Description: Nets G/F Joe Johnson's 30 points were not enough Wednesday as Brooklyn lost Game 5 of its first-round postseason series to the Raptors.
Insight: Johnson made 13-of-23 from the field and helped the Nets erase a 22-point deficit in the fourth quarter, but Toronto pulled out the win to take a 3-2 series lead. The 32-year-old had just seven points in Game 4 but has averaged 21.6 ppg on .562 shooting in the series.
Brook Lopez, C4/25/2014 9:50:00 AM
Description: Nets center Brook Lopez was seen out of his walking boot and taking shots at practice on Thursday, according to a Nets Daily report.
Insight: There is no information that he'll actually try to play basketball this season, but after his left ankle surgery in March (and surgery on his right foot in January) its nice to see him making progress for next season.
Shaun Livingston, G4/24/2014 5:27:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston (illness) will play Friday in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against the Raptors. SOURCE: Andy Vasquez, Bergen Record
Insight: Livingston, who averaged 28 minutes, 11 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in the first two games of the series, missed practice Thursday but should be ready to go Friday.
Joe Johnson, G/F4/19/2014 4:05:00 PM
Description: Nets G/F Joe Johnson was certainly ready for the start of the playoffs, putting up 24 points on 8-for-13 shooting with eight rebounds, four assists and a couple of steals.
Insight: He played close to 45 minutes which likely isn't sustainable if the Nets get past the first series, but we like his production.
Alan Anderson, F4/19/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Nets have SF Alan Anderson is questionable for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Saturday against Toronto.
Insight: He's dealing with a sore abdominal muscle and missed four consecutive games to end the season. Anderson (7.2 ppg) should be ready to go for the playoffs but has little fantasy value.
Joe Johnson, G/F4/19/2014 11:05:00 AM
Description: Nets G/F Joe Johnson sat out Wednesday versus the Cavaliers, but he'll be ready for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Saturday against Toronto.
Insight: He was officially listed as having a calf injury though we know Jason Kidd was just resting his starter. Johnson finished the regular season averaging 15.8 ppg, 2.7 apg and 3.4 rpg in 79 appearances.
Shaun Livingston, G4/19/2014 11:01:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston practiced on Friday and is probable for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals Saturday against Toronto.
Insight: He sat out the final five games of the regular season with a big toe injury to be ready for this game. He's not a great scorer, but is a solid low-end contributor (8.3 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.2 spg).
Kevin Garnett, C4/16/2014 6:42:00 PM
Description: Nets center Kevin Garnett won't be in the lineup Wednesday for the regular season finale. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: Garnett barely played in the second half, sitting out 19 games because of back spasms. Mason Plumlee (7.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg) and Andray Blatche (11.1 ppg, 5.3 rpg) are both better fantasy options than KG at this point.
Joe Johnson, G/F4/16/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Nets G/F Joe Johnson will take a seat Wednesday versus the Cavaliers. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: He's officially listed as having a calf injury though we know Jason Kidd is just resting his starters before the playoffs. Johnson will finish the year with 15.8 ppg, 2.7 apg and 3.4 rpg in 79 appearances.
Paul Pierce, F4/16/2014 6:37:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Paul Pierce is getting the night off Wednesday against Cleveland. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: So are veterans Deron Williams, Kevin Garnett and Joe Johnson. Pierce's 28 minutes per game this season respresent a career-low. His fantasy value seems to be shrinking by the minute.
Deron Williams, G4/16/2014 6:07:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn will be without point guard Deron Williams Wednesday versus Cleveland. SOURCE: ESPN New York
Insight: D-Will's just getting a breather before the playoffs. Jorge Gutierrez (3.5 ppg) is a candidate to start in his place.
Mason Plumlee, PF4/15/2014 10:51:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn F/C Mason Plumlee did a little bit of everything Tuesday in a loss to New York.
Insight: The rookie out of Duke contributed 16 points, nine rebounds, four assists and one steal in 30 minutes of action. He's been deadly accurate over his last five games, making 81.1 percent of his field goal tries over that span. Look for Plumlee (7.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg) to have a big role in the Nets' upcoming postseason run.
Marcus Thornton, G4/15/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Marcus Thornton put in a game-high 24 points Tuesday in a loss to the Knicks.
Insight: He played more minutes (30) than most of Brooklyn's starters on Tuesday. The high-scoring two-guard should be in for another big game Wednesday against Cleveland.
Shaun Livingston, G4/15/2014 7:18:00 PM
Description: As expected, Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston won't be in the lineup Tuesday versus the Knicks. SOURCE: Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News
Insight: He's still out with a big toe injury. Backup guard Marcus Thornton (9.4 ppg) has averaged 25.7 mpg during Livingston's three-game absence.
Paul Pierce, F4/15/2014 7:10:00 PM
Description: Nets power forward Paul Pierce is ready to go Tuesday against the Knicks. SOURCE: Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News
Insight: Pierce, who had been questionable with a shoulder injury, has averaged 13.5 ppg since the All-Star break. That's the same scoring average he had in the first half, though he's been much more efficient in the second half (48.8 percent shooting versus 42.9 before the break).
Deron Williams, G4/15/2014 7:05:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams will play Tuesday against New York. SOURCE: Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News
Insight: He had been a game-time decision because of knee tendinitis. A win tonight will give Brooklyn the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference and a date with Chicago in the first round of the playoffs. The Bulls won in seven games when these teams met a year ago.
Joe Johnson, G/F4/15/2014 6:59:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn G/F Joe Johnson will be active for Tuesday night's game against the Knicks. SOURCE: Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News
Insight: There had been a rumor the Nets were thinking of resting their starters to try and get the No. 6 seed and a more favorable matchup with Toronto in the first round, though apparently that wasn't the case. A shooting guard for most of his career, Johnson has played primarily as a small forward this season. He leads the team in scoring at 15.8 ppg.
Mirza Teletovic, F4/15/2014 6:32:00 PM
Description: Nets power forward Mirza Teletovic (personal) will sit out Tuesday against the Knicks, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
Insight: His wife gave birth to twins on Tuesday. Teletovic has averaged 2.9 threes, 12.1 points and 4.6 rebounds over his last 11 games and would have been in line to play increased minutes in the final two games of the regular season with Brooklyn looking to rest its stars.
Paul Pierce, F4/15/2014 12:05:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Paul Pierce (shoulder) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.
Insight: The Nets have an "old" roster with six players 30-years-old or older, so this isn't a surprise. Starting any of the veterans on Tuesday will be a risky play. Marquis Teague, Marcus Thornton and Mason Plumlee could play big minutes.
Deron Williams, G4/15/2014 12:02:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams along with most of the Nets are game-time decision as the team rests up for the playoffrs.
Insight: The Nets have an "old" roster with six players 30-years-old or older, so this isn't a surprise. Starting any of the veterans on Tuesday will be a risky play. Marquis Teague, Marcus Thornton and Mason Plumlee could play big minutes.
Alan Anderson, F4/15/2014 11:57:00 AM
Description: The Nets have already ruled Alan Anderson out for Tuesday's game with the Knicks, according to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post.
Insight: He's dealing with a sore abdominal muscle and will miss his third consecutive game. Anderson (7.2 ppg) should be ready to go for the playoffs but has very little fantasy value.
Shaun Livingston, G4/15/2014 11:55:00 AM
Description: Nets guard Shaun Livingston is not expected to play on Tuesday, according to Tim Bontempts of the New York Post.
Insight: Livingston (8.3 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.2 spg) is still dealing with a bruised toe. He's expected to be ready when the playoffs begin.
Mirza Teletovic, F4/13/2014 10:35:00 PM
Description: Nets power forward Mirza Teletovic has averaged 2.8 triples in April despite playing just 22.8 minutes per game.
Insight: Teletovic had 20 points, six rebounds and four threes in 29 minutes Sunday and should see increased minutes in the last few games as the team gets Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett as much rest as possible before the postseason.
Mason Plumlee, PFHot4/13/2014 10:33:00 PM
Description: Nets rookie Mason Plumlee had 17 points, 11 rebounds, two steals and one block in 26 minutes Sunday against the Magic.
Insight: Plumlee started when Kevin Garnett was out due to back spasms and the Nets have expanded his minutes lately. He has averaged 14.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks and 0.8 steals over his last five games.
Alan Anderson, F4/13/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: The Nets have already ruled Alan Anderson out for Sunday's game against the Magic. SOURCE: Newsday
Insight: He's dealing with a sore abdominal muscle. Anderson (7.2 ppg) has only registered double-digit points once in his last five contests so it's not a big loss for fantasy owners.
Shaun Livingston, G4/12/2014 9:28:00 PM
Description: Nets guard Shaun Livingston will not be available for Sunday's game against Orlando. SOURCE: Andy Vasquez, The Record
Insight: Livingston (8.3 ppg) is still dealing with a bruised toe, though he says that it's improving. While he's sidelined, Joe Johnson (15.8 ppg) will play shooting guard with Andrei Kirilenko (5.0 ppg) filling in at small forward.
Andray Blatche, F/C4/11/2014 10:03:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Andray Blatche missed his third straight game Friday.
Insight: Nets coach Jason Kidd said before the game that Blatche was available after he missed the last two games due to illness, but he didn't end up using the center. Mason Plumlee has moved ahead of him on the depth chart.
Mason Plumlee, PFHot4/11/2014 10:00:00 PM
Description: Nets rookie Mason Plumlee has averaged 14.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks over his last four games.
Insight: Plumlee started when Kevin Garnett was out due to back spasms and the Nets have expanded his minutes lately with Andray Blatche out due to an illness.
Alan Anderson, F4/11/2014 6:47:00 PM
Description: Nets guard Alan Anderson was scratched from Friday's lineup due to sore abdominal muscles, according to Andy Vasquez of the Bergen Record.
Insight: Anderson was going to get another chance to start with Shaun Livingston out, but Andrei Kirilenko will replace him. Marcus Thornton also should see a good chunk of minutes.
Paul Pierce, F4/11/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Paul Pierce (hip) will return to the lineup Friday, the Nets announced via Twitter.
Insight: Pierce got a night off to rest on Wednesday. He'll start alongside Jorge Gutierrez, Alan Anderson, Joe Johnson and Kevin Garnett against the Hawks.
Shaun Livingston, G4/11/2014 5:58:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston (foot) will miss Friday's game, according to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post.
Insight: Livingston has played 28.6 minutes per game over his last 45 games but doesn't do enough to be a fantasy factor. With Deron Williams and Livingston both out, Jorge Gutierrez and Alan Anderson will get the majority of the backcourt minutes.
Deron Williams, G4/11/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams will sit out Friday with right patellar tendinitis, according to Rod Boone of Newsday. Coach Jason Kidd said sitting him out is about getting Williams rest more than anything.
Insight: Williams has averaged 15.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.7 threes per game since the All-Star break. With Shaun Livingston also out, Jorge Gutierrez will start and Alan Anderson also will see big minutes.

Description: Nets power forward Mirza Teletovic had 17 points, nine rebounds and five threes Wednesday at Orlando.
Insight: He started with Paul Pierce getting the night off. Despite playing just 19.3 minutes per game this season, Teletovic has averaged 1.9 threes per game. However, he hasn't done anything else to warrant attention from fantasy owners.

Description: Nets guard Joe Johnson had 31 points, five assists and four rebounds Wednesday at Orlando.
Insight: Johnson has scored at a clip of 18.6 ppg over his last 21 games after scoring 14.8 ppg his first 55 games this season.

Description: Brooklyn center Kevin Garnett will start Wednesday against the Magic, according to Stefan Bondy of the NY Daily News.
Insight: KG missed 19 games due to back spasms before returning to play 13 minutes Saturday and then sat out Tuesday. He'll play 15-20 minutes Wednesday and isn't a fantasy option.
Shaun Livingston, G4/9/2014 5:45:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston (rest) will miss Wednesday's game, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Livingston has played 28.6 minutes per game over his last 45 games but doesn't do enough to be a fantasy factor. His absence will give Alan Anderson a chance to get into the starting lineup.
Paul Pierce, F4/9/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Paul Pierce will sit out Wednesday, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Mirza Teletovic will start in Pierce's place. The 36-year-old Pierce played 32 minutes Tuesday at Miami and will get a rest.
Andray Blatche, F/C4/8/2014 7:54:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn will be without center Andray Blatche Tuesday against the Heat. SOURCE: Andy Vasquez, The Record
Insight: He's battling an illness. It's a shame because Blatche (11.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg) really could have exploited Miami's lack of size in the low post. Rookie Mason Plumlee (6.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg) should see a heavy workload at center.
Kevin Garnett, PF/C4/7/2014 8:40:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Kevin Garnett has already been ruled out for Tuesday's matchup against Miami. SOURCE: Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News
Insight: However, he will play Wednesday versus Orlando. KG scored ten points in 13 minutes Saturday in his return from back spasms. The Nets are trying to avoid playing him in back-to-back games.

Description: Brooklyn center Kevin Garnett (back spasms) will return to the lineup Saturday, according to the Nets on Twitter.

Kevin Garnett, PF/C4/4/2014 7:02:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Kevin Garnett (back spasms) won't be in action Friday against the Pistons. SOURCE: Wall Street Journal

Andrei Kirilenko, F4/4/2014 6:55:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko is back in the lineup after missing the last six games with an ankle injury. SOURCE: Wall Street Journal
Insight: In 15 games since the All-Star Game, Kirilenko has averaged just 4.5 ppg while shooting 34.1 percent from the free throw line. That's not a guy you want on your fantasy team.
Marcus Thornton, G4/2/2014 5:51:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Marcus Thornton (back) will play Wednesday against the Knicks, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Thornton missed two of the last four games with a lower-back injury. He has played fewer minutes per game with the Nets than he did with the Kings, but he has improved his shooting and averaged 11.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 threes and 0.9 steals with Brooklyn.
Marcus Thornton, G4/2/2014 2:20:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Marcus Thornton thinks he rushed back from injury (bruised lower back) and will make sure he's completely healthy before returning to the court.
Insight: Thornton lasted just 15 minutes Sunday against Minnesota and didn't play on Tuesday. Depending on how cautious the Nets are, he may not be back until the playoffs. He's been improved after the trade to Brooklyn, averaging 11.4 ppg over 17 games, up from 8.3 in Sacramento.
Andrei Kirilenko, F4/1/2014 11:07:00 AM

Description: Nets PF/SF Paul Pierce hurt his shoulder again in the first half Sunday against Sacramento and is questionable for Monday's game against Toronto.

Kevin Garnett, F3/10/2014 10:53:00 AM
Description: Nets PF/C Kevin Garnett (back spasms) missed Sunday's game and is questionable for Monday's game against Toronto.
Insight: Garnett's averaging career low numbers (6.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and even when he returns, coach Jason Kidd has said he will not play a lot of minutes. Andray Blatche has averaged 13.6 ppg and 5.6 rpg while Garnett has been sidelined.
Andrei Kirilenko, F3/9/2014 8:26:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko suffered a sprained ankle Sunday in a win against Sacramento. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Insight: The injury forced him to miss most of the second half. If Paul Pierce (shoulder) and Kirilenko (five points in 18 minutes) are both out Monday against Toronto, the Nets may have to start four guards with Mason Plumlee as the lone frontcourt player.
Paul Pierce, F3/9/2014 7:19:00 PM
Description: Nets PF/SF Paul Pierce hurt his shoulder in the first half Sunday against Sacramento. He will not be returning. SOURCE: Newsday

Description: Nets PF/C Kevin Garnett (back spasms) will miss yet another game Sunday, according to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post.

Marcus Thornton, G3/7/2014 11:19:00 AM
Description: Nets backup shooting guard Marcus Thornton could be a starter against Boston on Friday night if Joe Johnson (game-time decision due to illness) can't run.
Insight: Thornton is certainly capable of tossing up a 20-point night if he gets the minutes. In fact, he's got two 20-point games in the last three contests.
Joe Johnson, G3/7/2014 11:17:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn shooting guard Joe Johnson is questionable for Friday's game against Boston due to illness.
Insight: Johnson missed the morning shootaround, but will be a game-time decision, according to Tim Bontempts of the New York Post. JJ is averaging 15.0 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.7 apg this season, but has averaged 20.0 ppg over his last two starts. Marcus Thornton would get the start if Johnson can't go.

Description: Nets PF/C Kevin Garnett (back spasms) will not play Wednesday, according to Rod Boone of Newsday.
Insight: Garnett will miss his third straight game. Mason Plumlee started in his place the last two, but Andray Blatche benefited the most with 29 mpg, 15 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.5 apg and 3.0 spg.

Deron Williams, G3/2/2014 10:09:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams played through a right wrist injury Saturday in a win against Milwaukee. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Insight: Williams (15 points, four assists) had an ice pack on his wrist after the game. It doesn't sound like he's going to miss any time but it wouldn't hurt to check on D-Will's status one more time before tipoff Monday against Chicago.
Andray Blatche, F/C3/2/2014 10:06:00 AM
Description: Nets center Andray Blatche had a productive outing Saturday against Milwaukee.
Insight: Blatche chipped in with 19 points, 13 rebounds, three steals and one blocked shot. He shot 9-of-9 from the free throw line. Of course, Blatche, who played 30 of 48 minutes on Saturday, won't see as much playing time when Kevin Garnett (rest) returns to the lineup Monday against Chicago.
Kevin Garnett, F3/1/2014 1:52:00 PM
Description: Nets PF/C Kevin Garnett will not play in Saturday's contest against Milwaukee.
Insight: The 37-year-old has started all 48 games he has appeared in this season but is averaging just 21.1 minutes per game. He has played only 18.6 minutes per game in February as the team limits his time during the regular season. They can probably beat the hapless Bucks without him.
Kevin Garnett, F/C2/27/2014 9:32:00 PM
Description: The Nets will have Kevin Garnett available on Thursday against the Nuggets, according to beat writer Andy Vasquez.
Insight: Garnett's status was in question because Brooklyn is on a back-to-back. The 37-year-old has started all 48 games he has appeared in this season but is averaging just 21.1 minutes per game. He has played only 18.6 minutes per game in February.
Marcus Thornton, G2/26/2014 5:08:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Marcus Thornton (food poisoning) will make his Nets debut Wednesday, according to Rod Boone of Newsday.
Insight: Brooklyn acquired Thornton (8.3 ppg) from the Kings last week for Reggie Evans and Jason Terry, but the illness has prevented him from making his debut with the team. He was playing just 24.4 mpg with Sacramento and is unlikely to even get that with the Nets.
Shaun Livingston, G2/26/2014 4:39:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston will start Wednesday's game against Portland. He sat out Sunday because of a back/tailbone injury. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: Livingston's return will likely bump Andrei Kirilenko out of the starting lineup. Though Livingston has definitely given the Nets a boost with his play this season, his fantasy contributions have been minimal (7.7 ppg, 3.1 apg, 3.2 rpg).
Shaun Livingston, G2/25/2014 4:40:00 PM
Description: Nets guard Shaun Livingston (bruised tailbone) will be a game-time decision Wednesday against the Trail Blazers.
Insight: Livingston missed his first game of the season Sunday night. He has averaged just 24 minutes, 5.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists his last seven games and the Nets just acquired Marcus Thornton, so there's no reason to hold Livingston in fantasy leagues.

Description: Nets guard Shaun Livingston will miss Sunday's game in Los Angeles. He's out with a tailbone injury. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday

Description: Nets shooting guard Marcus Thornton won't be available Sunday against the Lakers. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday

Description: Brooklyn will be without center Kevin Garnett Sunday against the Lakers. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: Garnett hasn't been playing the second game of back-to-backs. Andray Blatche (12.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg) and Mason Plumlee (6.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg) will both see minutes at center on Sunday night.
Jason Collins, C2/23/2014 1:48:00 PM
Description: The Nets have signed center Jason Collins to a 10-day contract, according to yahoosports.com.
Insight: He doesn't have any fantasy value but it's a major story as Collins is the first active openly gay player in the NBA. He'll occupy no more than 10 minutes per game for Brooklyn. It's his second stint with the organization after playing with the Nets from 2001-08.
Shaun Livingston, G2/23/2014 10:39:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston is questionable for Sunday's game with a bruised tailbone, according to Andrew Keh of the New York Times.
Insight: Livingston's X-rays came back negative, but he didn't sound optimistic that he'll be able to play. He hasn't been providing fantasy-worthy numbers anyway with averages of 5.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists his last seven games.
Deron Williams, G2/23/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams has averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds his last two games.
Insight: After sitting out nearly three full weeks to rest his injured ankles (following a PRP and cortisone injection), Williams has averaged just 13.6 points and 6.2 assists in 32.6 minutes per game over 15 games since he returned to the lineup. His shooting is still an issue, as he made just 41.9 percent from the field and 31.7 percent from 3-point range in that span. After having the PRP treatment in his ankles last season, Williams averaged 22.9 points, 8.0 assists and 2.8 threes while shooting .481/.420/.866 in his final 28 games, but it hasn't worked as well this season.

Description: Nets guard Marcus Thornton has a stomach bug and will not play Saturday, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

Marcus Thornton, G2/19/2014 2:42:00 PM
Description: The Kings traded Marcus Thornton to the Nets Wednesday for Jason Terry and Reggie Evans, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of yahoosports.com.
Insight: Both Thornton and Terry are signed through 2014-15, with Thornton due nearly $17 million and Terry set to receive nearly $11. The 26-year-old Thornton is averaging just 8.3 ppg on 38.1 percent shooting this season and won't gain fantasy value by joining the Nets. The trade will open up the starting shooting guard spot for Ben McLemore, but the rookie has made just 36.6 percent from the field.
Reggie Evans, F2/13/2014 12:02:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Reggie Evans won't be available Thursday against Chicago. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday.
Insight: Evans is out for personal reasons. Evans' stat line has been pretty lackluster this season. In 30 games, he's only averaged 2.7 ppg on dismal 39 percent shooting. Evans isn't a fantasy option.
Paul Pierce, F2/12/2014 10:00:00 PM
Description: Five of Brooklyn forward Paul Pierce's made field goals Wednesday were 3-pointers.
Insight: Pierce finished with 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting (5-5 3PT), four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in just 22 minutes. He has played only 20 mpg in his last four games.
Kevin Garnett, F/C2/12/2014 2:50:00 PM
Description: Nets center Kevin Garnett will be active Wednesday against Charlotte. However, his status is a bit murkier for Thursday's game in Chicago. SOURCE: Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News
Insight: Garnett (6.8 ppg, 6.9 rpg) provides Brooklyn with veteran leadership and is still an above average defensive player but he's not anywhere close to being useful in fantasy. Ignore KG until further notice.
Reggie Evans, F2/12/2014 11:50:00 AM
Description: Nets forward Reggie Evans won't be available Wednesday against Charlotte. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: Evans is out for personal reasons. He'll also miss Thursday's game against Chicago. Evans' stat line has been pretty lackluster this season. In 30 games, he's only averaged 2.7 ppg on dismal 39 percent shooting. Evans isn't a fantasy option.
Mason Plumlee, PFHot2/9/2014 8:47:00 PM
Description: Nets rookie Mason Plumlee enjoyed his best game as a pro Sunday against the Pelicans.
Insight: Plumlee set a career-high with 22 points and also tied a career-high with 13 rebounds. After averaging just 15.2 mpg in his previous 37 appearances, Plumlee has played at least 28 minutes in each of his last two games. Plumlee's emergence seems to be coinciding with Andray Blatche's hip injury.
Kevin Garnett, F/C2/9/2014 4:42:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Kevin Garnett will return to the lineup Sunday against the Pelicans, according to Tom Lorenzo of NetsDaily.com.
Insight: The Nets gave the 37-year-old off on Friday to rest. He's not getting enough minutes to be considered a fantasy option.
Kevin Garnett, F/C2/7/2014 1:35:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Kevin Garnett will not play Friday, according to Nets reporter Andy Vasquez.
Insight: The Nets face a big front line in Detroit and could start Andray Blatche, Mason Plumee and Mirza Teletovic.

Description: Brooklyn shooting guard Joe Johnson is ready to play Thursday against the Spurs. He sat out Monday because of right knee tendinitis. SOURCE: Mike Mazzeo, ESPN New York

Deron Williams, G2/6/2014 9:59:00 AM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams had a knee issue late in Monday's game which caused him to limp off the court, but it doesn't appear to be serious, according to Nets beat writer Rod Boone.
Insight: Williams should be ready to go, but it would be worth checking back just before tipoff to verify that there are no problems.
Andrei Kirilenko, F2/6/2014 9:56:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn forward Andrei Kirilenko practiced without issue on Wednesday and has been upgraded to probable for Thursday's game with San Antonio.
Insight: Kirilenko (5.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg) had missed the previous three games with a quad issue. Functioning as Paul Pierce's backup, Kirilenko has no fantasy value at this time.

Joe Johnson, G2/5/2014 12:51:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson (knee soreness) returned to practice Wednesday after missing Monday's game, according to Andy Vasquez of the Bergen Record.
Insight: Johnson is averaging 15.6 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.8 apg, his lowest totals in 10 years, but still made the All-Star team this season. If he returns Thursday he'll bump Alan Anderson back to the bench and may take some minutes from Shaun Livingston, though Livingston was having success even with Johnson in the lineup.
Andray Blatche, F/C2/5/2014 12:50:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Andray Blatche (hip) practiced Wednesday and said he'll play Thursday, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Blatche missed the last two games. He averaged 24 minutes, 15.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks in his last seven games before suffering a bruised hip. His return will take minutes away from 3-point shooting big man Mirza Teletovic.
Shaun Livingston, GHot2/4/2014 5:18:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston has generated 11.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals over his last 18 games.

Paul Pierce, F2/3/2014 11:56:00 PM

Insight: Pierce accomplished that on just nine shots while making 14-of-14 from the free-throw line. Over his last 11 games, the Nets forward has averaged 15.7 ppg.
Deron Williams, G2/3/2014 11:54:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams scored 20 points Monday for the first time since he returned from an ankle sprain on Jan. 20.
Insight: Williams finally returned to the starting lineup Saturday after coming off the bench in his first six games back from undergoing platelet-rich plasma therapy on his ankles and missing two weeks. If the procedure works as well as it did last season Williams should have a big second half.
Mirza Teletovic, F2/3/2014 11:52:00 PM
Description: Nets power forward Mirza Teletovic made five threes and scored 20 points in 28 minutes Monday against the 76ers.
Insight: The Sixers give up the most three-points in the NBA. Teletovic hadn't scored in double figures since he exploded for a career-high 34 on Jan. 24. He saw some extra time Monday with Andray Blatche still out but has played just 19 minutes per game this season. Still, he has fantasy value in deeper leagues due to his 2.6 threes per game over his last 24 games.
Andray Blatche, F/C2/3/2014 7:00:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Andray Blatche (hip), agame-time decision against the 76ers on Monday, will sit the game out
Insight: Blatche also missed Saturday's game. He averaged 24 minutes, 15.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks in his last seven games before suffering a bruised hip.
Andrei Kirilenko, F2/3/2014 6:58:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Andrei Kirilenko will sit out again Monday due to a calf injury, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
Insight: It will be his third straight absence. The forward has played just 17 games and 18 minutes per game this season and shouldn’t be owned in any leagues.
Joe Johnson, G2/3/2014 6:38:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson is not expected to play against Philadelphia on Monday night due to right knee tendinitis, according to Andy Vasquez of The Record.
Insight: Johnson is averaging 15.6 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.8 apg, his lowest totals in 10 years. Shaun Livingston has scored 40 points over the past two games and with Johnson sidelined could be in for another big night.
Andray Blatche, F/C2/3/2014 4:16:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Andray Blatche (hip) will be a game-time decision against the 76ers on Monday.
Insight: Blatche missed Saturday's game with the injury. He averaged 24 minutes, 15.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks in his last seven games before suffering a bruised hip.
Deron Williams, G2/1/2014 6:51:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams will return to the starting lineup Saturday versus Indiana. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: Williams (13.2 ppg, 6.9 apg) has come off the bench since his return from an ankle injury on January 16th. He's not the fantasy dynamo that he used to be but if you're interested in double-digit points and a handful of assists, you could do a lot worse than D-Will.
Andray Blatche, F/C2/1/2014 6:23:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn PF/C Andray Blatche won't be in action Saturday against Indiana. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: Blatche bruised his hip in last night's loss to OKC. Mirza Teletovic may see some extra minutes at the five, assuming Jason Kidd continues his trend of monitoring Kevin Garnett's playing time (just 21.7 mpg this season).
Andrei Kirilenko, F2/1/2014 11:58:00 AM
Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko did not play Friday due to a calf injury and is questionable for Saturday's game against Indiana.
Insight: Kirilenko has played just 17 games this season due to injuries and is averaging 5.8 ppg. Don't bother with him in fantasy leagues.
Andray Blatche, F2/1/2014 11:55:00 AM
Description: Nets F/C Andray Blatche is questionable for Saturday's game against Indiana while dealing with a bruised left hip.
Insight: Blatche is averaging 13.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.4 apg as a starter this season which make him a low-end fantasy value.
Andrei Kirilenko, F1/31/2014 6:25:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko will not play Friday due to a calf injury, according to Tom Lorenzo of netsdaily.com. He'll be reevaluated for Saturday's game.
Insight: Kirilenko has played just 17 games this season due to injuries and is averaging 5.8 ppg. Don't bother with him in fantasy leagues.
Andrei Kirilenko, F1/31/2014 5:34:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko will be a game-time decision Friday night due to a calf injury, according to Andy Vasquez of the Bergen Record.

Andrei Kirilenko, F1/30/2014 5:15:00 PM
Description: The Nets announced that Andrei Kirilenko's MRI came back negative. He remains day-to-day with a calf injury.
Insight: Kirilenko has averaged 5.8 ppg since returning from a back injury at the end of last month. Alan Anderson (8.4 ppg) and Paul Pierce (13.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg) would see more minutes if Kirilenko is unable to play Friday against the Thunder.
Andrei Kirilenko, F1/29/2014 2:53:00 PM
Description: A sore calf prevented Brooklyn forward Andrei Kirilenko from practicing on Wednesday. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Paul Pierce, F1/27/2014 9:13:00 PM
Description: Nets small forward Paul Pierce has returned to action. He left Monday's game briefly after injuring his neck.
Insight: Pierce is having a much better evening than he did last night in his return to Boston. Through three quarters he already has 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Whatever neck injury Pierce may have suffered earlier appears to be well behind him.
Paul Pierce, F1/27/2014 8:30:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Paul Pierce left Monday's game against Toronto with a neck/shoulder injury.
Insight: Pierce hasn't gone to the locker room yet, which is probably a good sign. The Nets are plenty deep at shooting guard/small forward so it's not the end of the world if Pierce doesn't come back. Andrei Kirilenko and Jason Terry would both see extra minutes in Pierce's absence.
Deron Williams, G1/26/2014 11:33:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams (ankle) is coming off the bench, but still averaging 30 minutes of court time.
Insight: Williams has averaged 13.3 ppg and 7.7 apg which isn't up to preseason expectations, but not bad off the bench. Fantasy owners should expect him to start soon and hopefully his numbers will return to projected levels.
Mirza Teletovic, F1/24/2014 10:33:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Mirza Teletovic was on fire Friday against the Mavericks.
Insight: He shot 12-of-18 from the floor for a season-high 34 points. Seven of Teletovic's 12 made field goals came from behind the arc. Look for him to stay hot Sunday against the Celtics.
Deron Williams, G1/23/2014 2:42:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams (ankle) will come off the bench again on Friday.
Insight: Williams has still managed to get 27.5 mpg off the bench, but don't expect him to stand for the bench role too much longer. Fantasy owners need more of him than his production over the past two games.
Paul Pierce, F1/23/2014 2:35:00 PM
Description: Nets SG/SF Paul Pierce missed Thursday's practice due to illness, so fantasy owners should check back before Friday's game to verify that he'll be in uniform.
Insight: Pierce isn't the fantasy stud he once was, but he's still a box score filler - 13.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.0 spg, 1.3 threes per contest.
Mirza Teletovic, FHot1/22/2014 12:57:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Mirza Teletovic has averaged 2.7 threes per game over his last 18 games.
Insight: That would be a lot of threes of anyone, much less a 6-foot-9 player with power-forward eligibility. Teletovic has only averaged 23 minutes, 10.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists in his last 18 games, but the 3-pointers make him a fantasy option in deep leagues.
Andray Blatche, FHot1/21/2014 9:58:00 PM
Description: Nets F/C Andray Blatche scored a team-high 18 points with five rebounds and three assists as Brooklyn got past Orlando 101-90.
Insight: Blatche is averaging 19 ppg over his last three contests with 10.3 rpg.
Deron Williams, G1/21/2014 6:18:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams (ankle) had 13 points in 27 minutes off the bench in his return to action Monday and will not start on Tuesday.
Insight: As long as he's getting the minutes it doesn't matter if he starts or not. D-Will had a platelet-rich plasma injection and a cortisone shot in both ankles two weeks ago after spraining his left ankle for a third time this season and missed the last five games. He had the same procedure at the All-Star break last season and averaged 22.9 ppg post-break.
Marquis Teague, G1/21/2014 12:31:00 PM
Description: Backup point guard Marquis Teague has been traded from Chicago to Brooklyn.
Insight: Teague's value, or lack of one, won't change with this trade. He'll be stuck behind Deron Williams and Shaun Livingston.
Andray Blatche, F1/20/2014 8:48:00 PM
Description: Nets F/C Andray Blatche has averaged 27 minutes, 19.5 points, 13 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks the last two games.
Insight: Blatche didn't see an immediate statistical boost from Brook Lopez' season-ending injury and he'll probably continue to see 20-25 minutes per game as part of coach Jason Kidd's befuddling rotation.
Joe Johnson, GHot1/20/2014 7:09:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson drained four threes Monday at New York on his way to a 25-point game.
Insight: Johnson has scored at least 23 points in five of the last six games and averaged 24.5 ppg in that span. He has made 16-of-31 from behind the arc the last five games.
Deron Williams, G1/20/2014 7:06:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams (ankle) had 13 points in 27 minutes in his return to action Monday against the Knicks. He came off the bench but will probably rejoin the starting lineup Tuesday.
Insight: D-Will had a platelet-rich plasma injection and a cortisone shot in both ankles two weeks ago after spraining his left ankle for a third time this season and missed the last five games. He had the same procedure at the All-Star break last season and averaged 22.9 ppg post-break.
Deron Williams, G1/19/2014 1:48:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams practiced fully on Sunday. He expects to return Monday against the Knicks. SOURCE: Mike Mazzeo, ESPN New York
Insight: D-Will has been nursing a sprained ankle. He'll return to averages of 13.6 ppg and 6.9 apg, his lowest totals since his rookie season in 2005-06.
Deron Williams, G1/17/2014 5:29:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams (ankles) is aiming to return Monday against the Knicks, Brooklyn GM Billy King said. SOURCE: nydailynews.com
Insight: Williams had PRP and cortisone injections in both ankles on Jan. 7 after spraining his left ankle a third time. We expected he would try to return for Monday's game against the Knicks, as the Nets light schedule allowed him to sit out two full weeks while only missing five games. Williams had the same procedure during the All-Star break last season and went off for 22.9 ppg in 28 games after returning.
Paul Pierce, F1/16/2014 8:46:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Paul Pierce has averaged 18.7 ppg his last three games.
Insight: Pierce had 18 points, six assists and three rebounds in 27 minutes of action Thursday afternoon against the Hawks.
Joe Johnson, G1/16/2014 8:43:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson had 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting (6-8 3PT) Thursday against the Hawks in London.
Insight: Johnson has scored at least 23 points in four of the past five games and averaged 24.4 ppg in that span. He should continue to be the Nets leading scorer until Deron Williams (ankles) finally rejoins them.
Deron Williams, G1/16/2014 10:35:00 AM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams didn't make the trip to London for Thursday's game against the Hawks, but could return for the Jan. 20 game.
Insight: Shaun Livingston will continue to start at point guard until Williams returns to the court. He's averaing 9.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.5 apg as a starter this season.
Deron Williams, G1/12/2014 6:08:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams won't make the trip to London for Thursday's game against the Hawks. D-Will has missed four games in a row with a sprained ankle. SOURCE: Mike Mazzeo, ESPN New York
Insight: Shaun Livingston has done an excellent job in his place, averaging 13.0 ppg, 2.5 apg and 6.0 rpg over his last four games. There's no timetable for Williams' return.
Joe Johnson, G1/11/2014 9:43:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson's three-game hot streak came to an end Saturday against the Raptors.
Insight: After scoring nine points or less in five straight games from Dec. 27 to Jan. 4, Johnson averaged 27.3 ppg in his last three games. However, he had just 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting Saturday and the Nets lost to snap a five-game winning streak.
Kevin Garnett, F/C1/11/2014 6:11:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Kevin Garnett will not play Saturday, according to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post.
Insight: The Nets are playing in their third game in the last four days and will choose to rest the veteran. KG is averaging just 22 minutes, 6.7 points and 7.0 rebounds this season and is not a recommended fantasy option. Mason Plumlee will start in his place Saturday after playing just 12 minutes total in the previous five games (three DNP-CDs). Look for Mirza Teletovic to be heavily involved.
Kevin Garnett, F/C1/11/2014 5:54:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Kevin Garnett will be a game-time decision Saturday, according to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post.
Insight: The Nets are playing in their third game in the last four days and may choose to rest the veteran. KG is averaging just 22 minutes, 6.7 points and 7.0 rebounds this season and is not a recommended fantasy option.
Deron Williams, G1/9/2014 7:00:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams has already been ruled out for the team's next two games. He's been battling a sprained ankle. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Insight: That means he'll be watching from the sidelines Friday against the Heat and then again Saturday in Toronto. Brooklyn's current four-game winning streak is its longest of the season.
Deron Williams, G1/7/2014 4:14:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams received platelet-rich plasma injections and cortisone shots in both ankles Tuesday, according to Rod Boone of Newsday. Williams will be reevaluated Friday.
Insight: Williams has dealt with ankle issues all season and his MRI Monday revealed another left ankle sprain. He had the same procedure during the All-Star break last season and it helped him recover and average 22.9 ppg, 8.0 apg and 2.8 3pg after the break.

Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams (ankle) missed Monday's contest, his 12th missed game this season and is questionable for Wednesday's game against Golden State.
Insight: Williams sprained left ankle swelled up before Monday's game. We don't expect the 13-21 Nets to rush him back, so fantasy owners should have a backup plan for Wednesday.
Joe Johnson, G1/6/2014 10:10:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson snapped a string of five straight single-digit scoring efforts with 23 points on 10-of-22 shooting Monday against Atlanta.
Insight: Johnson averaged just 7.0 ppg on 30 percent shooting during the five-game stretch. His average of 15.2 ppg this season is his lowest since 2002-03, when he was a role player for Phoenix.
Deron Williams, G1/6/2014 5:59:00 PM

Brook Lopez, C1/6/2014 10:51:00 AM
Description: Nets center Brook Lopez' foot surgery will hopefully solve his chronic foot problems, according to NBA columnist Howard Beck.

Kevin Garnett, F/C1/4/2014 6:52:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Kevin Garnett won't participate in Saturday's game against Cleveland. SOURCE: Mark Herrmann, Newsday

Andray Blatche, F1/4/2014 11:26:00 AM
Description: Nets F/C Andray Blatche (personal) attended shootaround and will play Saturday, according to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post.
Insight: Blatche missed the last four games due to personal reasons. He's averaging 23 minutes, 11.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game this season. While Brook Lopez is out for the season, the Nets have been using a collection of players, including Kevin Garnett, Mirza Teletovic, Reggie Evans, Mason Plumlee and Blatche, to fill his minutes rather than one guy.
Tyshawn Taylor, G1/3/2014 10:07:00 AM
Description: Nets point guard Tyshawn Taylor missed his third consecutive game Thursday night while dealing with an ankle injury.
Insight: Taylor hasn't played more than six minutes in a game since Dec. 7. He had a little fantasy value when starting for the injured Deron Williams, but has none at this time.

Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams confirmed he's dealing with an injury but didn't want to discuss it, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirlineko will only play about 10-to-12 minutes Tuesday in his return from a back injury. SOURCE: ESPN New York
Insight: That sounds about right given how much time he's missed. Kirilenko really hasn't been healthy all year so it's unknown how he'll mesh with his new teammates. Fantasy owners should be going in with low expectations.
Andrei Kirilenko, F12/31/2013 1:22:00 PM
Description: Andrei Kirilenko's long-awaited return could come as early as Tuesday against San Antonio. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Insight: The Brooklyn small forward hasn't played since November because of back spasms but he looked good in his return to practice on Monday. He'll probably be eased back into the lineup so fantasy owners shouldn't expect Kirilenko to play big minutes in his return.

Description: Nets forward Paul Pierce snapped out of his slump with 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting Saturday.

Description: Nets forward Mirza Teletovic had 17 points Saturday at Indiana and is averaging 15.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.8 blocks and 3.4 threes over his last five games.
Insight: Brook Lopez' season-ending foot injury opened the door for Teletovic to play big minutes. He should be added in most leagues.
Andray Blatche, F12/27/2013 7:15:00 PM
Description: Nets F/C Andray Blatche won't be available for the team's next four games. SOURCE: Tom Lorenzo, SB Nation
Insight: He's out for personal reasons. With Brook Lopez already out with a broken foot, the Nets are looking very thin in the low post. Expect veterans Kevin Garnett and Reggie Evans to play more minutes than usual while Blatche is out.
Andray Blatche, FCold12/25/2013 4:55:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn F/C Andray Blatche was ugly Wednesday, shooting 1-for-11 from the field with five rebounds in 26 minutes.
Insight: Blatche is the guy in the middle with Brook Lopez sidelined, but he'll have to play a lot better than this to be fantasy worthy.
Deron Williams, G12/25/2013 10:03:00 AM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams suffered yet another ankle injury Monday, but it doesn't appear to be serious and he's listed as probable for Wednesday's game against Chicago.
Insight: Williams tweaked his left ankle late in the fourth. The Nets were getting blown out so there was no reason to rush him back considering all the ankle issues the point guard has dealt with this season. After posting double-doubles in the three previous games fantasy owners hope he's ready to go.

Brook Lopez, C12/21/2013 5:10:00 PM
Description: League sources confirmed that Nets center Brook Lopez is done for the season with a broken right foot, according to espn.com. It's the same foot he fractured and had surgically repaired in 2011.
Insight: It's a huge blow to the Nets, but fantasy owners who can grab Andray Blatche will come out of this smelling like a rose. He's averaging 13.4 ppg and 5.6 rpg in five starts this season. Mirza Teletovic also figures to see increased playing time.
Andray Blatche, FHot12/21/2013 1:28:00 PM

Description: Nets forward Paul Pierce had a season-high 27 points on 10-of-12 shooting (3-5 3PT) Wednesday against Washington.

Description: Deron Williams paced the Nets with 13 points and 13 assists Monday in a blowout win over Philadelphia.
Insight: Now that's more like it. After ankle injuries hampered him in the early going, a rejuvenated Williams has come back to average 18.8 ppg on 56.5 percent shooting over his last four games. Brooklyn trails Boston by two games for the Atlantic Division lead.
Joe Johnson, GHot12/16/2013 10:23:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson torched the Sixers for 37 points on Monday night.

Description: Nets center Brook Lopez is going to sit out Monday's game versus the Sixers. SOURCE: Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News
Insight: It's the second game he's missed with an ankle sprain. Kevin Garnett will start at center with Mirza Teletovic filling in at the four. Even though he won't be in the starting five, Andray Blatche will probably play more minutes than both of them.
Brook Lopez, C12/16/2013 11:59:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn center Brook Lopez made it through the morning shootaround and is "pretty sure" he'll play Monday night.
Insight: Lopez confirmed that this sprain isn't as bad as the one he had last month. Andray Blatche (11.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg) won't get the 32 minutes he saw on Friday if Lopez returns.

Paul Pierce, F12/11/2013 12:06:00 PM
Description: According to the New York Daily News, Nets coach Jason Kidd indicated he may keep Paul Pierce in a bench role. "I liked him being a leader with that second group," Kidd said. "Will it stay that way? I don’t know. We will look at the video tomorrow as a team and coaches. I will talk to Paul and see what his comfort level is, but I would like to get him back, give him more minutes and get him used to that glove."
Insight: Pierce came off the bench for the first time since Feb. 9, 2007 Tuesday in his return from a fractured hand. He wore a brace on his right hand and had four points, seven rebounds and three assists. Pierce was open to continuing to play off the bench. "It's all about winning," Pierce said. "If that's what's best for the team, then so be it."

Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams returned to the lineup Tuesday against Boston.

Paul Pierce, F12/10/2013 11:36:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn forward Paul Pierce (hand) was supposed to test his hand in Tuesday's shootaround, but it was cancelled because of the snow storm.

Description: According to espn.com, Nets point guard Deron Williams (ankle) said he'll "definitely" play Tuesday against Boston.

Deron Williams, G12/5/2013 12:05:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams won't be available for Thursday's game with the Knicks. SOURCE: Brooklyn Nets on Twitter
Insight: This will be his seventh consecutive game on the sidelines with a sprained ankle. Expect Tyshawn Taylor to grab another start at point guard. Taylor scored 12 points with two rebounds and two assists against Denver on Tuesday - so he's no fantasy replacement for D-Will.
Alan Anderson, F12/3/2013 11:18:00 AM
Description: Nets swingman Alan Anderson should most of the court time at small forward over the next two weeks with starter Paul Pierce sidelined.
Insight: Anderson has never averaged more than 10.7 ppg in any of his five seasons, so his fantasy value is limited.
Deron Williams, G12/2/2013 10:05:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams won't return Tuesday against the Nuggets. SOURCE: Brooklyn Nets on Twitter
Insight: He's missed eight of the last nine games with a sprained ankle. The Nets aren't counting on having D-Will back for Thursday's game either. Expect Tyshawn Taylor to grab another start at point guard.

Insight: Pierce suffered the injury during Friday night's blowout loss to Houston. He's had a miserable year, producing just 12.4 ppg in 15 games. Alan Anderson (7.9 ppg) should benefit the most from Pierce's absence.
Andrei Kirilenko, F11/30/2013 1:49:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko won't be in the lineup for at least another week. SOURCE: Long Island Newsday
Insight: Back issues continue to be the culprit. If you haven't already, it's probably time to move on and let Kirilenko be someone else's problem.
Jason Terry, G11/30/2013 1:39:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Jason Terry is still out with a knee injury.
Insight: According to Long Island Newsday, Terry will be out for at least another week. With Paul Pierce (hand) also expected to miss Saturday's game versus Memphis, it could be a big night for swingman Alan Anderson (8.4 ppg).
Paul Pierce, FCold11/30/2013 1:32:00 PM
Description: Nets small forward Paul Pierce isn't expected to play Saturday against Memphis. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Insight: Pierce bruised his hand last night against Houston. He's having a disastrous season, averaging just 12.4 ppg on pitiful 36.8 percent shooting. Fantasy owners should bench The Truth until further notice.
Kevin Garnett, F/C11/29/2013 7:10:00 PM
Description: Nets power forward Kevin Garnett is taking the night off to rest Friday against Houston. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Insight: Garnett has appeared in 14 of the Nets' first 15 games. He's been a productive rebounder (7.9 boards a game) but his scoring is way down from last season (6.7 ppg compared to 14.8 in 2012-13).

Description: The Nets were without point guard Deron Williams Wednesday against Los Angeles - his fourth consecutive missed game and is doubtful for Friday at Houston.
Insight: His sprained ankle has been slow to heal. Williams is a fantasy stud when healthy, but there hasn't been much of that lately. He's played just one of the Nets last seven games.

Jason Terry, G11/27/2013 4:06:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Jason Terry won't be available Wednesday against the Lakers. SOURCE: Nets on Twitter
Insight: He's out with a knee injury. Alan Anderson has been getting extra minutes in Terry's absence. Anderson (7.7 ppg) might be the better fantasy option in the long run anyway.
Andrei Kirilenko, F11/27/2013 4:00:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn forward Andrei Kirilenko is still out with back spasms. SOURCE: Nets.com
Insight: Wednesday will mark his tenth absence in a row. Kirilenko took $7 million less to join the Nets last offseason. So far, the move hasn't paid off for either party.

Description: Nets PF/C Andray Blatche led Brooklyn with 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting over 32 minutes Tuesday at Toronto.
Insight: Blatche has played 27.5 mpg and produced 17.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.2 spg and 0.7 bpg over his last six games and should come close to that as long as Brook Lopez (ankle) remains out.
Jason Terry, G11/26/2013 10:30:00 AM
Description: Nets shooting guard Jason Terry (bruised knee) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Toronto.
Insight: He missed his second straight game Sunday. Even when he's been on the court he has played just 17 minutes per game this season while averaging 5.3 points and 1.1 threes per game. He's not worth owning in any leagues.

Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko was supposed to be back at practice Monday, but didn't participate.
Insight: He's only competed in four games this season. The Nets have been a trainwreck due to injuries. Kirilenko, Deron Williams, Jason Terry and Brook Lopez have all missed significant time.

Description: Brooklyn point guard Deron Williams (sprained ankle) won't accompany the team to Toronto on Tuesday. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday

Joe Johnson, G11/24/2013 7:09:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Joe Johnson got hot from three-point range and finished with 34 points Sunday in a loss to Detroit.
Insight: It's the first time this season Johnson (8-for-10 on three-pointers) has scored over 20 points. The Nets dropped to 3-10 with the loss. That gives Brooklyn the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference (Milwaukee is 2-10).
Andrei Kirilenko, F11/24/2013 11:25:00 AM
Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko is still out with back spasms. SOURCE: Wall Street Journal
Insight: He's only competed in four games this season. The Nets have been a trainwreck. Despite having the highest payroll in the league, their 3-9 record ranks 27th out of 30 NBA teams. Ironically, they're tied with their equally disappointing crosstown rival, the New York Knicks.
Jason Terry, G11/24/2013 10:53:00 AM
Description: Nets shooting guard Jason Terry's bruised knee will again keep him sidelined.
Insight: He'll miss his second straight game Sunday against Detroit. Jet has played just 17 minutes per game this season while averaging 5.3 points and 1.1 threes per game. He's not worth owning in any leagues.

Description: Nets PF/C Andray Blatche is averaging 17.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg is relief of Brook Lopez over the past four games.

Description: Brooklyn guard Deron Williams won't play Sunday against the Pistons. SOURCE: Mike Mazzeo, ESPN New York
Insight: His sprained ankle is still bothering him. Williams hasn't looked like himself this season (career-low 9.3 ppg) and the ankle issues are a big reason why. Shaun Livingston's fantasy value should get a boost from Williams' absence.
Andray Blatche, F11/22/2013 10:34:00 PM
Description: Nets PF/C Andray Blatche played only 22 minutes off the bench Friday but still had time to take 14 shots and score 16 points with four rebounds.
Insight: With Brook Lopez out with an ankle injury, Nets coach Jason Kidd has stuck with Kevin Garnett as his starting center and Reggie Evans at power forward, but Blatche has been the biggest beneficiary of Lopez' absence. He has produced 17.5 points, 6.0 boards and 1.0 steals per game over the last four games.
Deron Williams, G11/22/2013 4:36:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams (ankle) will not play Friday against the Timberwolves.
Insight: Williams suffered another left ankle sprain Wednesday night. He was making his return from a two-game absence after spraining the same ankle last Friday. Shaun Livingston will move into the starting lineup again. He averaged 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.7 steals in three games from Nov. 15-18.
Jason Terry, G11/22/2013 4:35:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Jason Terry's bruised knee will keep him out of Friday's game.

Insight: Kevin Garnett started at center with Lopez (ankle) out but played just 21 minutes. Lopez is expected back soon so fantasy owners don't need to run out and add the 27-year-old Blatche, however.
Deron Williams, G11/20/2013 8:30:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams suffered another left ankle sprain Wednesday against the Bobcats and will not return, the team announced. He rolled his ankle on Kemba Walker's foot while landing after a jump shot.

Jason Terry, G11/20/2013 1:59:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Jason Terry is going to suit up Wednesday against Charlotte. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: He had been questionable with a bruised knee. Like most of his teammates, Terry hasn't been productive this season (career-low 5.8 ppg in ten contests).
Brook Lopez, C11/20/2013 1:57:00 PM
Description: Nets center Brook Lopez will not be available for Wednesday's game in Charlotte. SOURCE: Nets on Twitter
Insight: It's his third consecutive absence. His ankle sprain must have been more severe than the one Deron Williams suffered because D-Will is returning to the starting lineup tonight. Consider Lopez questionable for Friday's game at Minnesota.
Deron Williams, G11/20/2013 1:55:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams will be active for Wednesday's game at Charlotte.
Insight: Williams missed the last two games with a mild ankle sprain. According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Williams will not be on a minutes restriction. Fantasy owners would be wise to start him against a Bobcats team that has lost five straight versus Brooklyn.
Deron Williams, G11/19/2013 5:46:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams (ankle) says he'll play Wednesday against Charlotte after practicing Tuesday. SOURCE: Andy Vasquez, Bergen Record.
Insight: Williams fully participated Tuesday and said he felt "great." The point guard sprained his left ankle Friday night and missed the last two games. He has dealt with ankle woes since the preseason, but his latest injury is not an aggravation of the old one.
Brook Lopez, C11/19/2013 5:40:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Brook Lopez (ankle) is questionable for Wednesday's game at Charlotte. He'll travel with the team, however, according to Andy Vasquez of the Bergen Record.
Insight: Lopez suffered a sprained left ankle in the fourth quarter Friday night and has missed two straight games. He didn't practice Tuesday, but indicated it wasn't his decision. "I feel good," he said. "I feel like I could play. I’m not the one calling the shots there. We’ve got to think about long-term."
Paul Pierce, F11/18/2013 7:08:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn swingman Paul Pierce is active for Monday's game against Portland. SOURCE: Comcast Sportsnet Northwest

Kevin Garnett, F/C11/18/2013 7:05:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn F/C Kevin Garnett is back after missing Saturday's game with a sore ankle. SOURCE: Rod Boone, Newsday
Insight: Saturday's absence wasn't much of a surprise as KG rarely plays the second game of back-to-backs. He should play a lot tonight with Brook Lopez and Andrei Kirilenko both out with injuries.
Brook Lopez, C11/18/2013 6:40:00 PM
Description: As expected, Brooklyn center Brook Lopez won't play Monday against Portland. SOURCE: Bergen Record
Insight: He's still out with a sprained ankle. Kevin Garnett is expected to get the start at center. Andray Blatche should also see some time at the five on Monday night.
Deron Williams, G11/18/2013 6:37:00 PM
Description: Deron Williams is missing his second straight game Monday versus Portland. SOURCE: Bergen Record
Insight: The Nets point guard sprained his ankle on Friday night. Though D-Will claims this injury isn't nearly as bad as the last time he sprained his ankle, it still might be a while before we see him back on the court. Shaun Livingston will continue to run the point in Williams' absence.
Andrei Kirilenko, F11/18/2013 6:33:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn small forward Andrei Kirilenko isn't suiting up for Monday's game against the Trail Blazers. SOURCE: Bergen Record

Andray Blatche, FHot11/18/2013 11:24:00 AM
Description: Nets PF/C Andray Blatche started Saturday's game against the Clippers in place of Brook Lopez (ankle) and is likely to start again Monday versus Portland.
Insight: Blatche posted a team-high 19 points with eight rebounds and a pair of assists Saturday night and is a high-quality replacement for Lopez.
Brook Lopez, C11/18/2013 11:21:00 AM
Description: Nets center Brook Lopez is doubtful for Monday's game against Portland while dealing with a sprained left ankle.
Insight: Lopez suffered an ankle injury Friday night but was able to play through it, then missed Saturday's contest. He was limping badly Saturday night, according to Stefan Bondy, and is likely to miss more time.
Kevin Garnett, C11/18/2013 11:18:00 AM
Description: Nets PF/C Kevin Garnett sat out Saturday against the Clippers and is questionable for Monday's game against Portland due to a sprained right ankle.
Insight: The 37-year-old Garnett is averaging just 23 minutes, 5.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.5 blocks per game and there is no reason to own him in most leagues. Reggie Evans would get the start if Garnett isn't ready to run.
Deron Williams, G11/16/2013 11:17:00 PM
Description: According to David Aldridge of NBA.com, the Nets are hopeful that Deron Williams (ankle) won't be out long.
Insight: Williams sprained his ankle Friday night and missed Saturday's game, but the injury is different than the one he suffered during the preseason. He has minimal swelling and does not need crutches or a walking boot.
Kevin Garnett, C11/16/2013 11:13:00 PM
Description: Nets PF/C Kevin Garnett sat out Saturday against the Clippers. Reggie Evans got the start.
Insight: The Nets were without four-fifths of their starting lineup in the game. Garnett was the only one who missed the game for a non-injury reason, as it was the second game of a back-to-back. The 37-year-old is averaging just 23 minutes, 5.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.5 blocks per game and there is no reason to own him in most leagues.
Andray Blatche, F11/16/2013 5:43:00 PM
Description: Nets PF/C Andray Blatche will start Saturday's game against the Clippers in place of Brook Lopez (ankle).
Insight: Kevin Garnett will be a game-time decision for the second half of a back-to-back but he won't play big minutes even if he's active. With Deron Williams and Paul Pierce also out, fantasy owners should expect Joe Johnson to be the No. 1 offensive option and Shaun Livingston to be heavily involved.
Paul Pierce, F11/16/2013 5:41:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Paul Pierce (groin) will not play Saturday against the Clippers, according to Rod Boone of Newsday.
Insight: Pierce is believed to have suffered the injury Friday. Brooklyn will definitely be without Deron Williams (ankle), Brook Lopez (ankle) and Pierce and could also sit Kevin Garnett for rest purposes.
Brook Lopez, C11/16/2013 5:40:00 PM
Description: Nets center Brook Lopez will miss Saturday's game against the Clippers.
Insight: Lopez suffered an ankle injury Friday night but was able to play through it, so it's possible the injury isn't too serious to keep him out of Monday's game.
Brook Lopez, C11/16/2013 3:57:00 PM
Description: Brook Lopez's status is in question for Saturday's game against the Clippers. SOURCE: SB Nation
Insight: Lopez tweaked his ankle in Friday's win over Phoenix. The Nets are already going to be without Deron Williams. He also suffered an ankle injury in Friday night's victory.
Deron Williams, G11/16/2013 3:49:00 PM
Description: Nets guard Deron Williams won't be available for Saturday's game versus the Clippers. SOURCE: SB Nation
Insight: Williams sprained his ankle in the first quarter Friday night and did not return. Shaun Livingston could be a nice fantasy add if the injury lingers. Remember, D-Will is a notoriously slow healer with a history of ankle problems.
Joe Johnson, G11/16/2013 9:50:00 AM
Description: Joe Johnson propelled the Nets to victory Friday with a game-winning layup as time expired in overtime.
Insight: Johnson's bucket with 29 seconds left in the fourth quarter was what sent the game into overtime in the first place. Statistically, it was a pretty pedestrian night for Johnson (13 points on just 6-of-19 shooting) but his late-game heroics prove that he can still be a force in both real life and fantasy.

Insight: He's done for the night and there's a good chance he'll have to sit out a handful of games. Shaun Livingston will handle the point guard duties while D-Will gets his ankle checked out.
Andrei Kirilenko, F11/15/2013 10:32:00 AM
Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko is not on the trip with the Nets while struggling with back spasms.
Insight: Kirilenko hasn't seen enough court time to be of value to fantasy owners and shouldn't be on any rosters at this point.

Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko won't be available for Saturday's game against the Pacers. SOURCE: Nets on Twitter
Insight: Kirilenko is struggling with back spasms. Without him, Alan Anderson should see more minutes off the bench.
Paul Pierce, F11/8/2013 6:56:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Paul Pierce (illness) is in the starting lineup Friday night, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com.
Insight: Pierce missed Friday's shootaround. He's averaging just 28 minutes and 9.0 field-goal attempts per game this season but has made 55.6 percent of his shots and averaged 15.8 ppg.
Paul Pierce, F11/8/2013 12:01:00 PM
Description: Paul Pierce (illness) missed the morning shootaround, but is expected to play this evening, according to coach Jason Kidd.
Insight: Pierce will obviously be at less than 100 percent and will likely yield much of his offense to the other guys. This would be a good time to let him sit and use a fill-in until he is feeling better.
Kevin Garnett, C11/7/2013 5:12:00 PM
Description: Nets PF/C Kevin Garnett (hip) will play Friday but is questionable for Saturday.
Insight: Garnett is playing just 22 minutes per game this season. The team is just trying to get him to the playoffs 100 percent healthy, so he's not a fantasy option.
Joe Johnson, G11/5/2013 10:23:00 PM
Description: Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson is only averaging 11.5 ppg through the first four games this season.
Insight: He has played just 27.5 minutes per game. The Nets have a deep bench and plenty of scoring options in the starting lineup, especially when Deron Williams gets healthy, so fantasy owners should expect inconsistent production from Johnson all season.
Brook Lopez, C11/5/2013 10:20:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Brook Lopez (ankle) had his second straight 20-point game Tuesday with a season-high 27 against Utah.
Insight: Lopez missed Monday's practice with an ankle injury and played just 25 minutes Tuesday, but that didn't prevent him from making 10-of-13 from the field (7-9 FT) and recording seven boards, two assists, one block and two steals. Lopez has scored 21 or more points in three of four games this season.
Deron Williams, G11/5/2013 10:18:00 PM
Description: Nets guard Deron Williams' 10 points Tuesday against Utah were a season high.
Insight: Williams has not played more than 27 minutes in any game this season as he works his way back from an ankle injury. He's still averaging 8.0 assists per game despite the limited playing time, but has just 8.5 ppg.
Kevin Garnett, C11/5/2013 10:16:00 PM
Description: Nets PF/C Kevin Garnett has not scored more than eight points in any game this season.
Insight: He hasn't played more than 26 minutes either. Garnett is just here to provide a veteran presence, play some defense, grab a few rebounds and make it to the playoffs 100 percent healthy. He's not a fantasy option.
Brook Lopez, C11/5/2013 6:25:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Brook Lopez (ankle) will play Tuesday against the Jazz.
Insight: Lopez was probable for the game despite missing Monday's practice. He's averaging 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.7 blocks through three games.
Andray Blatche, F11/5/2013 11:42:00 AM
Description: Nets PF/C Andray Blatche is probable for Tuesday's game against Utah while recovering from a sprained left ankle.
Insight: Blatche (3.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg) is back up for Brook Lopez and Kevin Garnett and has little fantasy value as long as they are healthy.
Brook Lopez, C11/4/2013 2:34:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn center Brook Lopez didn't practice Monday, but is expected to play on Tuesday versus Utah.
Insight: He's averaging 18.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg, slightly down from the past few seasons, but the loaded Nets have a lot of mouths to feed. This is likely his production level this season.
Shaun Livingston, G11/1/2013 10:07:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston has been battling a sprained thumb and is questionable for Friday's game against Miami.
Insight: He had his thumb taped at practice on Thursday. His has minimal fantasy value even when healthy as Deron Williams, Joe Johnson and Jason terry will eat up most of the guard minutes.
Andrei Kirilenko, F11/1/2013 10:03:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn forward Andrei Kirilenko is probable for Friday's game against Miami while dealing with back spasms.
Insight: Kirilenko's fantasy value is closely tied to how much playing time Paul Pierce gets this season. Pierce played almost 30 minutes in the opener which won't leave a lot for AK47.
Deron Williams, G10/31/2013 10:20:00 PM
Description: Nets guard Deron Williams will be on a minutes limit again Friday against Miami but if all goes well, he should be back to playing normal minutes Sunday against Orlando.
Insight: D-Will played sparingly in the opener and only finished with seven points. His sprained ankle is healing nicely but it may take a few more games for him to get back to 100 percent.
Shaun Livingston, G10/31/2013 10:14:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn guard Shaun Livingston has been battling a sprained thumb. SOURCE: Tim Bontemps, New York Post
Insight: He had his thumb taped at practice on Thursday. The 28-year-old was limited to one point and three assists in the season opener Wednesday night at Cleveland.
Paul Pierce, F10/30/2013 9:56:00 PM
Description: Paul Pierce (toe) scored 17 points with four rebounds Wednesday night in his Nets debut.
Insight: Pierce played 30 minutes, which is about what fantasy owners should expect even when he isn't dealing with a toe injury. He also only took eight shots in the game, but was able to score 17 points because he went 4-of-4 from the free-throw line and 3-of-4 from behind the arc. With all the options Brooklyn has, Pierce is unlikely to reach the 14.2 FGA per game he averaged last season.
Deron Williams, G10/30/2013 9:53:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn point guard Deron Williams (ankle) played just 22 minutes and finished 2-of-6 for seven points with nine assists in the season opener Wednesday.
Insight: Williams missed most of the preseason due to a sprained ankle and was on a minutes limit. He didn't aggravate the injury, according to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post.
Jason Terry, G10/30/2013 4:18:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn backup guard Jason Terry played just 19 minutes in his Nets debut Wednesday against Cleveland but had 14 points.
Insight: Terry jacked nine threes in the game and made four of them. He had a steal but just one assist and no rebounds. The veteran will offer inconsistent production on one of the deepest teams in the NBA.
Paul Pierce, F10/30/2013 3:52:00 PM
Description: Paul Pierce is expected to make his Brooklyn debut Wednesday night against the Cavaliers. SOURCE: Stefan Bondy, New York Daily News
Insight: He missed the team's preseason finale because of a toe injury. Though his athleticism isn't what it used to be, Pierce is still a strong competitor with a knack for knocking down big shots. He should have an excellent season for the new-look Nets.
Andrei Kirilenko, F10/30/2013 11:17:00 AM
Description: Brooklyn forward Andrei Kirilenko hopes to return Friday against Miami. SOURCE: Tim Bonteps, New York Post
Insight: He's sitting out Wednesday's season opener because of a back injury. Kirilenko's fantasy value is closely tied to how much playing time Paul Pierce gets this season.
Deron Williams, G10/29/2013 6:26:00 PM
Description: ESPN New York's Mike Mazzeo has confirmed that Brooklyn guard Deron Williams will be on the court for the team's season opener Wednesday versus Cleveland.
Insight: He made his preseason debut on Friday after missing the first six games with a sprained ankle. It doesn't sound like Williams will play his usual amount of minutes but he's still worth starting in all formats.
Andrei Kirilenko, F10/28/2013 9:22:00 PM
Description: Nets forward Andrei Kirilenko (back) is on the inactive list for the season opener Wednesday, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
Insight: Kirilenko has been dealing with back spasms since the middle of October. The 32-year-old averaged 32 minutes, 12.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks with the Timberwolves last season but will back up Paul Pierce this year.
Deron Williams, G10/25/2013 4:22:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams (ankle) practiced Thursday and could play in Friday's exhibition game after missing most of the preseason.
Insight: The point guard sprained his ankle seven weeks ago and hasn't played in the preseason. He's looking much better to be ready for the season opener on Oct. 30.
Jason Terry, G10/25/2013 4:18:00 PM
Description: Brooklyn backup guard Jason Terry is probable for Wednesday's game against Cleveland.
Insight: Terry returned to the court for the first time on Wednesday playing 24 minutes. On the loaded Nets roster, barring injury Terry's fantasy value will be minimal.
Deron Williams, G10/22/2013 7:37:00 PM
Description: Nets point guard Deron Williams (ankle) had his first day of full contact 5-on-5 practice this preseason on Tuesday.
Insight: Nets coach Jason Kidd says the next step is to see how Williams feels Wednesday. The point guard sprained his ankle seven weeks ago and hasn't played in the preseason. He's questionable for the season opener on Oct. 30.
Deron Williams, G10/20/2013 10:57:00 AM
Description: According to the New York Daily News, Nets coach Jason Kidd wouldn't answer questions about point guard Deron Williams' chances of playing in the season opener.
Insight: "He did a little bit more (Saturday)," Kidd said. "If not, about the same ... We’re only on October 19th. Just trying to get to the 20th ... Things change. You go forward, you might take a step back. We’re only going forward now." Williams sprained his ankle seven weeks ago and hasn't returned to a full practice yet.
Kevin Garnett, C10/3/2013 7:02:00 PM
Description: According to Nets GM Billy King, Kevin Garnett is not on a strict back-to-back schedule.
Insight: Nets coach Jason Kidd said in August that Garnett "probably" wouldn't play in any back-to-back sets, of which the Nets have 20 this season. However, it appears the team has backed off that stance just a bit. Look for Garnett to play 68 games in a best-case scenario.
