Fantasy MLB
Center Field Player Notes
For The Last 15 Days

Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/16/2014 11:33:00 AM
Description: Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez could be in for a long night on Tuesday.
Insight: Gomez is 3-for-17 over his career against Cardinals' starter Lance Lynn, with an ugly 9 strikeouts. If you have a better option for your outfield, it would not be the worst idea to give Gomez the night off.
Colby Rasmus, CF, TOR9/16/2014 10:21:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays center fielder Colby Rasmus needs to be in the lineup against the Orioles, for Tuesday night's game.
Insight: No doubt Rasmus has struggled this season from an average perspective (.226/.288/.449). However, he should be in the lineup tonight when Toronto takes on Ubaldo Jimenez. Rasmus is a career .370 hitter (10-for-27) against him, with seven extra-base hits. If he is active, Rasmus makes for an intriguing daily fantasy play tonight.
Adam Jones, CF, BAL9/16/2014 10:01:00 AM
Description: Orioles center fielder Adam Jones heads into Tuesday's game against Toronto with a tough matchup.
Insight: Baltimore will be going up against Blue Jay's starter Chad Hutchison. Not many Orioles have good numbers against him, and Jones is no different. He has a .167 carrer batting average (3-for-18) against Hutchison, with no extra-base hits. In no way, should owners bench Jones, but it is important to be aware of his less than stellar numbers versus Toronto's hurler.
Denard Span, CF, WAS9/15/2014 3:14:00 PM
Description: Nationals center fielder Denard Span could be in line for a strong game tonight against the Braves.
Insight: Combined with the fact that he is hitting .347 during the second half of the season, along with his .394 career BA (13-33) against Braves starter Ervin Santana, Span has the potential to get off to a strong start this week. While he won't give you much power, Span has really picked it up on the base path after the All-Star break, as he has stolen 16 bases in the last 54 games (15 SB through the first 84 games). Make sure Span is locked in and ready to go.
Mike Trout, CF, ANA9/15/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Angels center fielder Mike Trout is just a .182 hitter against Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma.
Insight: Trout is still the man, and you aren't going to take him out of your lineup, just don't set your expectations too high for Monday. The center fielder leads the American league with 107 runs and 107 RBI while batting .290. He is fourth in home runs (34) and third with a .945 OPS.
Coco Crisp, CF, OAKCold9/14/2014 12:38:00 PM
Description: Athletics center fielder Coco Crisp is a career .167 batter versus Mariners pitcher Chris Young.
Insight: Crisp is 1-for-11 in his last three games. If possible, leave him out of your lineup on Sunday.
Angel Pagan, CF, SFG9/14/2014 12:33:00 PM
Description: Giants center fielder Angel Pagan is a career .314 (11-for-35) hitter against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw.
Insight: Pagan also has three doubles against Kershaw. It is hard justifying starting anyone against Kershaw, but if you are going to plug anyone in against the tough lefty, it should be Pagan.
Michael Bourn, CF, CLE9/14/2014 11:12:00 AM
Description: Indians center fielder Michael Bourn is hitting .355 (11-for-31) with two doubles in his career against Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.
Insight: Bourn went 1-for-4 and hit a double on Saturday. He is hitting .264/.321/.374 with 27 extra-base hits, 26 RBI, 50 runs and 10 stolen bases this year.
Mike Trout, CF, ANA9/14/2014 10:18:00 AM
Description: Angels center fielder Mike Trout went 3-for-3 with two solo home runs and an intentional walk on Saturday as the Angels beat the Astros, 5-2.
Insight: The home runs are his 33rd and 34th of the season. Trout's other hit was a double, his 39th of the year. The center fielder leads the American league with 107 runs and 107 RBI while batting .290. He is third in home runs and third with a .946 OPS.
Rusney Castillo, CF, BOS9/13/2014 5:30:00 PM
Description: The Red Sox are expected to call up Rusney Castillo from Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday according to Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal.
Insight: Castillo has played well at three different minor league levels with the Red Sox farm system since signing a record seven-year, $72.5 million contract on Aug. 22. He likely won't get regular starts these last two weeks, but he will certainly be on the fantasy radar next season.
Adam Jones, CF, BAL9/13/2014 5:20:00 PM
Description: Orioles center fielder Adam Jones went 2-for-4 against the Yankees on Saturday.
Insight: With Chris Davis and Manny Machado out of the lineup, it is up to Jones to lead the Orioles offense. He had a double and single on Saturday, but did not drive in a run or score. Jones is hitting .285 with 25 home runs and 85 RBI this year.
Jordan Schafer, CF, ATL9/13/2014 1:42:00 PM
Description: Twins outfielder Jordan Schafer is out of the lineup on Saturday against the White Sox.
Insight: Schafer collided with the outfield wall last week, and Minnesota is being very cautious. He is considered day-to-day.
B.J. Upton, CF, ATL9/13/2014 1:21:00 PM
Description: Braves center fielder B.J. Upton is not in the starting lineup on Saturday.
Insight: Upton has had a rough season, batting .207 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI, so Emilio Bonifacio is taking away some of his playing time. Bonifacio will be in center field on Saturday.
Juan Lagares, CF, NYM9/12/2014 10:54:00 PM
Description: Mets center fielder Juan Lagares was 2-for-3 with a run, RBI and stolen base to help the Mets defeat the Nationals, 4-3, on Friday.
Insight: Lagares had what ended up being the game-winning double in the fifth, scoring Eric Young Jr. on the hit. Lagares is hitting a very respectable .279 with four homers and 47 RBI in 401 at-bats this season.
Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/12/2014 1:38:00 PM
Description: Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez is 10-for-24 (.417) with two homers and a 1.250 OPS versus Reds starter Mat Latos.
Insight: Gomez has been battling injuries lately, but his season numbers are still very good with a .287 batting average, 21 HR, 68 RBI, 88 runs and an .839 OPS. He's on a five-game hitting streal and should be a must start on Friday.
B.J. Upton, CF, ATL9/12/2014 1:28:00 PM
Description: Atlanta center fielder B.J. Upton is a career .474 hitter (9-for-19) with four extra-base hits and a 1.384 OPS versus Texas starter Derek Holland.
Insight: He's also stolen three bases with Holland on the mound. That's the good news. The bad news is Upton is batting .207 this season with 11 homers and 34 RBI and just 1-for-9 in three games this week.
Jacoby Ellsbury, CF, NYY9/11/2014 1:07:00 PM
Description: Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury is 3-for-16 (.188) with a solo home run against Rays starter Alex Cobb.
Insight: Cobb has arguably been the best pitcher in baseball, along with Clayton Kershaw, after the All-Star break. It would be unwise to start any Yankee, besides maybe Michael Pineda, on Thursday.
Andrew McCutchen, CF, PIT9/11/2014 12:44:00 PM
Description: Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-4 with a walk and an inside-the-park home run as the Pirates defeated the Phillies, 6-3, on Wednesday.
Insight: After a brief cold streak after returning from his rib injury, McCutchen is a legitimate contender for the National League batting title again. He is hitting .311, which is only behind Justin Morneau (.317) and teammate Josh Harrison (.318). The home run was the center fielder's 23rd of the season. He also has 77 runs, 75 RBI and 17 stolen bases.
Rajai Davis, CF, DET9/10/2014 3:36:00 PM
Description: Tigers center fielder Rajai Davis is not in Wednesday's starting lineup versus James Shields and the Royals.
Insight: This isn't unexpected as Davis is just 2-for-18 (.111) against Shields. Don Kelley will get the start in center field.
Billy Hamilton, CF, CIN9/10/2014 2:48:00 PM
Description: Cincinnati center fielder Billy Hamilton is not in the Reds lineup on Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Insight: Just a routine day off for Hamilton. Chris Heisey will get the start. Hamilton has been good this season, batting .260 with six homers, 46 RBI, 72 runs and 55 steals.
Leonys Martin, CF, TEX9/10/2014 10:07:00 AM
Description: Angels starter Matt Shoemaker has pitched well this season, but one guy he hasn't figured how to get out is Rangers center fielder Leonys Martin.
Insight: Martin is 5-for-7 (.714) with a pair of doubles against Shoemaker. Martin should post a second consecutive 30-plus stolen base season and is batting a respectable .279, but until he bats higher in the lineup his runs and RBI totals will fall a bit short.
Yasiel Puig, CF, LOSCold9/9/2014 12:09:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is just 1-for-11 versus Padres right-hander Andrew Cashner.
Insight: Puig hasn't been hitting up to previous standards, batting just .203 over the past month with an ugly .552 OPS. If he keeps this up, he'll be just one of the many outfielders Don Mattingly has to decide to start each day and not a fantasy stud.
Jacoby Ellsbury, CF, NYY9/9/2014 11:38:00 AM
Description: Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury is 8-for-12 (.667) and has stolen three bases off Rays right-hander Chris Archer.
Insight: Ellsbury has hit .281 with 45 extra-base hits, including 14 homers, with 37 steals this season. he's been struggling this week, however, going 3-for-18.
Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/8/2014 5:09:00 PM
Description: Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez (wrist) is in Monday's starting lineup.
Insight: Gomez singled as a pinch-hitter on Monday. He returns to the starting lineup on Monday for the first time since Aug. 31.
Cameron Maybin, CF, SDP9/8/2014 12:26:00 PM
Description: Padres center fielder Cameron Maybin is a career .095 (2-for-21) hitter against Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw.
Insight: A bad average against Kershaw is really a surprise but .095 is a whole new level of poor. Don't start Maybin on Monday.
Andrew McCutchen, CF, PIT9/8/2014 12:12:00 PM
Description: Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen hits just .231 (3-for-13) against Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick.
Insight: That is basically irrelavant though because McCutchen is 3-for-5 in each of his last two games with two RBI and a home run. He should stay in your lineup, but fantasy owners should be aware that McCutchen has not had much success against Kendrick in the past.
Dexter Fowler, CF, HOU9/8/2014 11:43:00 AM
Description: Astros center fielder Dexter Fowler drew a game-winning walk against the Athletics on Sunday as Houston won, 4-3.
Insight: Fowler went 1-for-3 with the game-winning RBI. The A's intentionally walked Jose Altuve ahead of Fowler with two runners on base. The center fielder drew a five-pitch walk to bring in the go-ahead run. Fowler has drawn 61 walks in 99 games this season and posts a healthy .378 on-base percentage.
Mike Trout, CF, ANA9/7/2014 7:31:00 PM
Description: Angels center fielder Mike Trout went 2-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBI, and three runs as the Angels defeated the Twins, 14-4.
Insight: Trout hit a two-run homer in the third inning, his 32nd of the season. That's a career high, as are his 102 RBI. He is hitting .285/.370/.552 with 97 runs scored as well.
Andrew McCutchen, CF, PIT9/7/2014 7:20:00 PM
Description: Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs in Pittsburgh's victory over the Chicago Cubs, 10-4, on Sunday.
Insight: It was the second straight day McCutchen went 3-for-5 with an RBI. It looked like the center fielder was going to have to play through his rib injury down the stretch, but the way he is swinging now, it appears McCutchen is over the injury. He is hitting .308 with 22 home runs and 74 RBI this season.
Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/7/2014 7:09:00 PM
Description: Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez (wrist) did not start but did pinch hit against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Insight: There was a chance Gomez would play on Sunday, but manager Ron Roenicke likely held him out for precautionary reasons. With the Brewers continuing their slide, Roenicke might have to go with Gomez no matter what on Monday.
Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/7/2014 11:19:00 AM
Description: Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez (wrist) told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel he could play as early as Sunday in the series finale against the Cardinals. UPDATE: Gomez is not in the lineup on Sunday. He could return on Monday. Gerado Parra will start in center field on Sunday.
Insight: Gomez hit batting practice on Saturday and appeared fine. Gomez said that if he feels fine again on Sunday, then he will tell manager Ron Roenicke that he can play. Roenicke indicated, however, he would like to wait until Monday to insert Gomez into the lineup.
Adam Jones, CF, BAL9/7/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: Orioles center fielder Adam Jones is a career .364 hitter with four home runs and a 1.050 OPS against Rays right-hander Jeremy Hellickson.
Insight: Jones hasn't been as good after the All-Star break as before. He's batting .251 with a .724 OPS in the 47 games since the Summer Classic. Still, he's putting together another solid season - .285, 24 home runs, 81 RBI and 80 runs.
Andrew McCutchen, CF, PIT9/6/2014 9:20:00 PM
Description: Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-5 with three singles, an RBI and run to lead Pittsburgh past the Chicago Cubs, 5-0, on Saturday.
Insight: It was one of McCutchen's best days at the plate since returning from his rib injury. McCutchen has had four other multi-hit games since returning, but the center fielder looked completely comfortable and confident at the plate as he battled in his at-bats even in the ninth inning when the Pirates aleady led by five. McCutchen should start in your lineup every day.
Coco Crisp, CF, OAK9/6/2014 8:38:00 PM
Description: Athletics center fielder Coco Crisp went 2-for-4 in the Oakland come-from-behind victory, 4-3, over the Astros on Saturday.
Insight: Crisp also stole two bases. Crisp is starting to heat up as the lead off hitter for Oakland, which is just what the Athletics need. Crisp is 7-for-21 in his last five games. The center fielder is batting .256 with nine home runs and 45 RBI this year.
Denard Span, CF, WAS9/6/2014 8:34:00 PM

Yasiel Puig, CF, LOSCold9/6/2014 6:15:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is out of the starting lineup against on Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Insight: Joc Pederson is starting in center field over Puig. All indications point to Pederson beginning to get regular time in the outfield, so Puig's value is going to take a hit the rest of the month.
Jordan Schafer, CF, ATL9/6/2014 5:37:00 PM
Description: Twins outfielder Jordan Schafer is out of the lineup on Saturday against the Angels due to soreness in his ribs.
Insight: Schafer collided with the wall on Friday night. He is considered day-to-day.
Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/6/2014 3:44:00 PM
Description: Milwaukee center fielder Carlos Gomez is just a .176 hitter with nine strikeouts in 17 at-bats against Cardinals starter Lance Lynn.
Insight: Gomez didn't start Friday night, but did get into the game as a defensive replacement. He's having trouble swinging a bat due to a wrist problem and should be avoided even if he's in Saturday's starting lineup. Update: Gomez is not in the starting lineup.
Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/6/2014 11:42:00 AM
Description: Milwaukee center fielder Carlos Gomez is just a .176 hitter with nine strikeouts in 17 at-bats against Cardinals starter Lance Lynn.

Marcell Ozuna, CF, MIA9/5/2014 10:15:00 PM
Description: Marlins outfielder Marcell Ozuna went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and four RBI against the Braves on Friday.
Insight: As we have seen in the past, Ozuna is a very streaky hitter. Friday was Ozuna at his best. He is hitting .264 with 19 home runs and 78 RBI this year.
Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/5/2014 4:03:00 PM
Description: Milwaukee center fielder Carlos Gomez is not in Friday's starting lineup against St. Louis due to a sprained left wrist.
Insight: He was expected to be shut down for a week so this isn't a surprise, but according to manager Ron Roenicke he was "feeling much better." Having fallen four games back of the Cardinals the Brewers could have used his bat, and enthusiasm, in their lineup.
Angel Pagan, CF, SFG9/5/2014 10:40:00 AM
Description: Giants center fielder Angel Pagan should be back in the lineup Friday, according to his manager Bruce Bochy. Update: Pagan is in the starting lineup.
Insight: Pagan has been dealing with a stiff back. He's batting .303 with 50 runs scored in 86 games and is a major catalyst in the Giants offense.
Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/5/2014 10:29:00 AM
Description: Milwaukee center fielder Carlos Gomez is questionable for Friday's game against St. Louis due to a sprained left wrist.
Insight: This is actually an upgrade as he was supposed to be will be shut down a week, but according to manager Ron Roenicke he's "feeling much better." Having fallen four games back of the Cardinals the Brewers could use his bat, and enthusiasm, in their lineup.

Description: Cincinnati center fielder Billy Hamilton is not in the Reds lineup on Thursday against the Orioles.
Insight: Hamilton went 2-for-4 on Wednesday and broke the rookie stolen base record with his 55th steal of the season. Thursday looks to be just a routine day of rest. In addition to the steals, Hamilton is hitting .269 with 71 runs.
Desmond Jennings, CF, TAM9/4/2014 1:15:00 PM
Description: Tampa Bay center fielder Desmond Jennings is a lifetime .409 (9-for-22) hitter against Toronto starter Mark Buehrle.
Insight: Jennings has been out with a left knee injury since Aug. 29, so owners might be reluctant to insert him so quickly back in the lineup on Thursday. That's if he is even in the Tampa Bay lineup. Jennings told the Tampa Bay Times on Wednesday that his left knee still doesn't feel any better. Make sure Jennings is in the lineup if you want to play the percentages against Buehrle.
Ben Revere, CF, PHIHot9/3/2014 3:46:00 PM
Description: Phillies center fielder Ben Revere added three more hits to his total Wednesday afternoon and raised his batting average to .314 .
Insight: The .314 average makes him the NL leader grabbing the top spot from Josh Harrison (.313) . Revere has stolen 42 bases, but despite the high batting average is a drain on OPS due to just 18 extra-base hits.
Michael Bourn, CF, CLE9/3/2014 10:16:00 AM
Description: Indians center fielder Michael Bourn is hitting .370 (10-for-27) in his career against Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander.
Insight: Bourn is also 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts once he gets on against Verlander. Injuries have minimized Bourn's fantasy value this season as he's played just 82 games
Juan Lagares, CF, NYM9/2/2014 11:22:00 PM
Description: Mets center fielder Juan Lagares went 4-for-4 with two steals on Tuesday against the Marlins.
Insight: Lagares had a perfect night at the plate, registering four hits, including a double, walk, two RBI, three runs and two steals. Lagares has steals in four of his last five games. Terry Collins said he wants his center fielder to continue to use his speed on the base paths which is great news for fantasy owners.
Carlos Gomez, CF, MIL9/2/2014 8:43:00 PM
Description: Milwaukee removed center fielder Carlos Gomez will be shut down a week before resuming baseball drills according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Insight: Gomez will likely be out at least two weeks, which hurts any owner that needed him for a postseason run. Oh, the Brewers will certainly miss him too as Tuesday was the first day since April 5 that Milwaukee was not in first place of the NL Central.
Coco Crisp, CF, OAK9/2/2014 8:34:00 PM
Description: The Athletics are hoping center fielder Coco Crisp (neck) will return to the lineup by this weekend according to John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group.
Insight: Crisp received more injections into his neck on Tuesday. Fantasy owners might have to look elsewhere for center field production. Even if Crisp is healthy by the weekend, expect the Athletics to bring him back slowly.

Chris Coghlan, CF, CHCHot9/2/2014 10:13:00 AM
Description: Cubs outfielder Chris Coghlan is a career .667 hitter (6-for-9) versus Milwaukee right-hander Yovani Gallardo.

Description: Tampa Bay center fielder Desmond Jennings is just 2-for-18 with six strikeouts when facing R.A. Dickey's knuckleball.

Charlie Blackmon, CF, COLHot9/1/2014 10:33:00 PM
