Insight: Kinsler hit four homers in the final 14 regular season games, which is more than he had in the previous two and a half months. Kinsler has struggled getting on base lately, but he will remain Detroit's lead off man for the ALDS.
Description: Astros second baseman Jose Altuve registered two hits and finished with a .341 batting average to win the American League batting title.
Insight: Altuve had to talk his way into the lineup as the Astros wanted him to sit and protect the batting title lead. He came into the day with a three point lead over Detroit's Victor Martinez, who went 0-for-3 on Sunday. Altuve had a fantastic year: .341/.377/.453 with seven home runs, 59 RBI, and 56 stolen bases.

Insight: After an 0-for-4 on Saturday, Altuve's average has dopped to .340, which is only three percentage points ahead of Detroit's Victor Martinez for the American League lead. With nothing to play for on Sunday, make sure Altuve is not sitting out to ensure he keeps the batting title before inserting him in your fantasy lineup.

Insight: Not good timing for Los Angeles. It looked like Gordon tweaked something when running out a groundball in the first inning. The Dodgers will provide an upsate shortly, but for now Darwin Barney has taken over.

Insight: Altuve tied the game with his single in the sixth. He also scored in the inning which proved to be the game-winner. Altuve is batting .342, which leads the American League. Victor Martinez of the Tigers is second, hitting .336.
Description: Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa had two hits in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday against the Mets.
Insight: Espinosa was 2-for-4 with a run in a loss to the Mets. He scored in the fifth inning, in which the Nationals tied the game at four, but New York scored the final three runs of the game to win, 7-4. Espinosa is hitting .222 with eight home runs and 27 RBI in 324 at-bats this year.
Description: Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks hit 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs in the loss to the Reds on Thursday.
Insight: Unfortunately for Weeks, he also committed two errors in the field which contributed to two Reds runs. It was a fitting end to the Brewers slide out of first place and then playoff contention this month. Weeks is hitting .272 with eight home runs, 36 runs and 28 RBI in 246 at-bats this year.
Description: Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run to seal the victory over the Brewers, 5-3, on Thursday.
Insight: The Reds eliminated the Brewers from playoff contention with the victory. Phillips scored in the third to tie the game at one, and his two-run bomb came in the sixth to extend the Reds lead to 5-2. The second baseman is hitting .263 with eight home runs and 51 RBI on the season.
Description: Cleveland second baseman Jason Kipnis is out for Wednesday's game against Kansas City with tightness in right hamstring.
Insight: Even when he's in the lineup he's been a DH due to the injury. The second baseman has been disappointing this season, hitting .241 with six home runs, and 41 RBI after a 17- homer, 84 RBI, 2013 season.
Description: Rays second baseman Ben Zobrist went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run against the Red Sox on Tuesday.
Insight: Zobrist hit a two-RBI double in the eighth inning as Tampa Bay took its first lead of the night, 2-1. Zobrist came around to score on David DeJesus' single as the Rays added three more runs in the frame. The second baseman is hitting .273 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI this season.
Description: Padres second baseman Jedd Gyorko is a career .643 hitter (9-for-14) against Rockies starter Jorge de la Rosa.
Insight: Gyorko is hitting just above the "Mendoza Line" for the season so it would be a gamble to start him, but if you are ever going to take a chance, Tuesday is the day in this favorable matchup. It's encouraging that he's batting .278 in September.
Description: Astros second baseman Jose Altuve just keeps on hitting.
Insight: After a two-hit game last night, Altuve has a nice matchup against Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma. He is 9-for-22 (.409 BA) lifetime against Iwakuma, with four RBI. Altuve has the AL batting title locked up.
Description: Mets second baseman Dilson Herrera is likely to miss several days because of a quad strain according to ESPN New York.
Insight: Herrera suffered the injury on Saturday against the Braves. Manager Terry Collins said he intends to leave Daniel Murphy at third base with Herrera out. Do not count on Herrera returning at any point in the final week of the season.
Description: Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong came up big for St. Louis Saturday night.
Insight: He went 3-for-3 with a walk, including his 12th homer of the year. Wong has been a little inconsitent at the plate, but still has a .256 average with 20 stolen bases. At 23-years-old, Wong should improve upon those numbers in 2015.
Description: Astros second baseman Jose Altuve it hitless in seven at-bats against Seattle starter Chris Young.
Insight: It's hard to believe the "hit machine" hasn't had any success against Young, but it is a small sample size. He has 216 hits with a week still left on the season. The 24-year-old now has a commanding lead in the batting title race, hitting .343/.379/.456 on the year.
Description: Mariners second basman Robinson Cano has a .395 lifetime batting average against Angels pitcher Jered Weaver.
Insight: Cano is 15-for-38 off Weaver, but only has one extra-base hit (a triple). His power numbers are also down in his first year with Seattle as he has just 14 homers. Cano, however, is batting .319 with 34 doubles, 77 RBI and 76 runs.
Description: Yankees 2B/3B/OF Martin Prado has an emergency appendectomy and is likely done for the season.
Insight: Prado has been sidelined much of the past week with a mild left hamstring strain, but now this. Prado is batting .282 with a .733 OPS for the season, but was much better as a Yankee infielder, batting .316 with seven homers and an .877 OPS.
