Fordham to remain ineligible for 2012 Patriot title
New York, NY (Sports Network) - Athletic scholarships are on the way to Patriot League football in 2013, but Fordham University will remain ineligible for the conference title this season.
The league first ruled the Rams program ineligible for the title in 2010 after it began to offer athletic scholarships. Last month, the league members voted in scholarships for 2013, which will keep the Rams ineligible for a third straight season this year.
The Rams are eligible for one of the 10 NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoff at-large bids.
Fordham will play each of the other six Patriot teams again in games that do not count toward the league standings.
The Rams will play five home games, beginning with an Aug. 30 season opener against Division II Lock Haven which serves as first-year head coach Joe Moorhead's debut.
Fordham's non-league schedule is highlighted by an Oct. 13 game at the University of Cincinnati.
The Rams finished 1-10 last season.
