Peveto hired as coach at Northwestern State

Natchitoches, LA (Sports Network) - LSU co-defensive coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto has been named head coach at Northwestern State.

The 45-year-old Peveto will complete his duties as co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at LSU when the Tigers play Georgia Tech in the Chick- Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta on New Year's Eve.

Peveto was defensive coordinator for the Demons under the school's winningest head coach, Sam Goodwin, from 1996-98.

Northwestern State needed a replacement for Scott Stoker, who was fired after the season. Stoker was in his seventh year with the Demons, who compiled a 43-38 mark for his alma mater. That included playoff runs in 2002 and '04. This past season, the team finished 7-5 overall and 4-3 in the Southland Conference.
