NCAA Game Summary - ULM at Texas State

San Marcos, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Isaiah Newsome recorded two interceptions and returned both for touchdowns as he led the ULM Warhawks over the Texas State Bobcats, 21-14, in a Sun Belt Conference matchup at Bobcat Stadium.
ULM (3-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) struggled to get any offense going until the final drive. Brayle Brown completed just 16-of-32 passes for 112 yards and two interceptions while Centarius Donald led the squad in rushing with 45 yards and a score on 14 carries. Tavarese Maye managed seven receptions for 74 yards as the Warhawks broke out of a three-game slump.
Texas State (3-3, 0-2) was led by Robert Lowe, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. Tyler Jones completed 6-of-15 passes for 66 yards and two interceptions before Tyler Arndt came in to replace him and threw for 81 yards on 6-of-19 passing. The Bobcats have lost three of their last four.
The first points of the game came when Newsome intercepted Jones and returned it 71 yards for a touchdown to get ULM on the board midway through the first quarter. After a scoreless second quarter, it was Newsome again in the third. Newsome intercepted another Jones pass and managed to return it 75 yards for another touchdown to put ULM up 14-0.
Texas State finally got on the board late in the third quarter with Jason Dann kicking a 22-yard field goal as well as a 43-yard field goal to cut the Bobcats' deficit to 14-6.
With just over six minutes remaining in the game, Lowe took in a six-yard touchdown for Texas State. After Arndt found Andy Erickson for the two-point conversion, the game was all tied at 14-14.
The ULM offense struggled the entire game but in the final minutes were able to pull it out. The Warhawks put together a 10-play, 75-yard drive which was capped off by a 10-yard touchdown run from Donald with just 18 seconds left in the game. With such little time, the Bobcats were unable to score as ULM secured the 21-14 victory.
Texas State accumulated 358 yards of total offense compared to just 192 yards for ULM but it was the costly interceptions resulting in touchdowns for ULM that lost the Bobcats the game.
