NCAA Game Summary - Louisiana at ULM

(Saturday, November 3)

Final Score: Louisiana 40, ULM 24

Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Behind 460 yards of total offense from Terrance Broadway, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns handed the ULM Warhawks their first Sun Belt Conference loss of the season, 40-24, at Malone Stadium.

Terrance Broadway completed 23-of-32 passes for 373 yards with four touchdowns and an interception and added 87 yards and a touchdown rushing for Louisiana (5-3, 3-2 Sun Belt). Broadway fell only a yard short of his career-high in passing yards, which he set just last week against Arkansas State. Jamal Robinson had a career day with three receptions for 153 yards and two scores.

For ULM (6-3, 4-1), Kolton Browning completed 5-of-7 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown, but he had to leave the game in the first half with an injury. Cody Wells took his place, and he finished 18-of-31 for 209 yards with two touchdowns and two picks. Brent Leonard accounted for 11 receptions for a career-high 168 yards and a touchdown. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Warhawks, who fell into a tie for first place in the conference with Middle Tennessee and Arkansas State.

The Cajuns struck first midway through the opening quarter when Alonzo Harris rushed in a 12-yard touchdown, but ULM wasted no time answering. Following a short kickoff return, Browning connected on an 81-yard touchdown pass to Tavarese Maye to tie the score at 7-7.

Justin Manton added a 23-yard field goal at the tail end of the first quarter to give the Warhawks their first, and only, lead of the game.

Louisiana responded nicely in the second quarter. Broadway connected on a 52- yard touchdown pass to Robinson early on in the frame, and with 4:46 to go in the half he completed a 23-yard scoring strike to Harry Peoples to give the Cajuns a 21-10 lead.

Replacing Browning, Cody Wells threw a 19-yard scoring strike to Je'Ron Hamm with less than a minute to play in the first half, his first touchdown pass of the season.

The Cajuns added to their advantage midway through the third quarter when Broadway ran in an eight-yard touchdown.

Louisiana put the game out of reach midway through the fourth quarter. Despite being pinned deep in its own territory, it orchestrated a 17-play, 99-yard drive, which culminated in a one-yard touchdown pass from Broadway to Jacob Maxwell.

Leonard hauled in a 22-yard touchdown pass from Wells later in the fourth quarter for ULM, but Louisiana put an exclamation point on the win with another big play touchdown from Broadway to Robinson, this time for 81 yards.

Louisiana held more than a two-to-one advantage in terms of time of possession (40:35 to 19:25). Although ULM put up 407 yards of offense, it seemed out of sync without Browning under center, converting just 2-of-11 third down conversions.
