NCAA Game Summary - North Texas at Florida Atlantic

Boca Raton, FL (Sports Network) - Brelan Chancellor hauled in six catches for 135 yards as the North Texas Mean Green managed to hold on to a 20-14 victory over the Florida Atlantic Owls in Sun Belt Conference action at FAU Stadium.
It was Chancellor's second straight game with over 100 yards receiving and his third on the season. Derek Thompson was impressive for North Texas (2-3, 1-1 Sun Belt), completing 18-of-30 passes for 251 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The win for the Mean Green halts a two-game losing skid.
For Florida Atlantic (1-4, 0-2), Graham Wilbert was shaky, completing 21-of-34 passes for 142 yards with zero touchdowns and two interceptions, although he did add a touchdown on the ground. Damian Fortner led all rushers with 63 yards while also adding a score. The Owls have now lost four straight after winning their season-opener.
The Mean Green found the end zone first midway through the opening quarter when Thompson hooked up with Chancellor for a 68-yard touchdown strike.
The only other score in the first half came on a Zach Olen 48-yard field goal at the beginning of the second quarter as North Texas took a 10-0 lead into intermission.
Thompson added another touchdown, this time on a 14-yard pass to Drew Miller at the 5:03 mark of the third quarter to put the away team up, 17-0.
FAU finally found the scoreboard late in the third quarter on an 11-yard touchdown rush from Fortner, cutting its deficit to just 10. The Owls added another score at the start of the fourth quarter on an 11-yard rushing score from Wilbert to make it 17-14.
The Mean Green gave itself a cushion midway in the fourth quarter with another Olen field goal (28 yards) to give them a 20-14 lead with just over seven minutes to play in regulation. FAU failed to convert a first down on either of its final two possessions.
The North Texas defense forced three turnovers and sacked Wilbert five times.
