NCAA Game Summary - Duke at Stanford

Stanford, CA (Sports Network) - Josh Nunes tossed a trio of touchdowns to lead
No. 25 Stanford to a 50-13 rout of Duke on Saturday at Stanford Stadium.
Nunes, making his second start in the post-Andrew Luck era, went 16-of-30 for
275 yards and an interception for Stanford (2-0), which snuck past San Jose
State, 20-17, to open the season.
Stepfan Taylor carried the ball 14 times for 69 yards and a score, while
Levine Toilolo, Drew Terrell and Jamal-Rashad Patterson each added a receiving
score.
Sean Renfree started for Duke (1-1) and passed for 200 yards and a pair of
interceptions on 28-of-40 passing. Backup Anthony Boone added 147 yards and an
interception on 13-of-21 passing for the Blue Devils, who defeated FIU last
weekend.
Jamison Crowder hauled in 10 passes for 112 yards and Desmond Scott added 11
grabs for 83 yards in the setback.
After a quick three-and-out from Duke on the opening possession of the game,
Terrell took the punt and scampered 76 yards into the end zone.
Stanford's defense forced another three-and-out before taking the ball 55
yards on seven plays to set up a 35-yard field goal from Jordan Williamson to
press the lead to 10-0.
Williamson added a 32-yarder later in the first to extend the margin to 13-0.
Stanford's first possession of the second quarter produced its first
touchdown, as Taylor capped a 7-play, 56-yard drive with a 13-yard touchdown
surge.
Another Duke three-and-out resulted in another Williamson field goal, this one
from 22 yards to press the lead to 23-0.
Ross Martin nailed a 29-yard field goal just before halftime to get Duke on
the board as they trailed 23-3 heading into the locker room.
The Blue Devils tried on onside kick to start the second half, but Stanford
recovered the ball at Duke's 43-yard line.
Nunes then completed four consecutive passes, the final one coming on a 19-
yard touchdown strike to Terrell to make it a 30-3 contest.
After Jordan Richards intercepted Renfree's pass and took it down to the Duke
8, Nunes hit Toilolo two plays later for a 3-yard touchdown pass.
Following a 29-yard field goal from Martin later in the third, the Blue Devils
drove into Stanford territory, but Ed Reynolds picked off Renfree and Kyle
Olugbode took it 70 yards for a touchdown to extend the margin to 43-6
after the extra point was blocked.
Duke responded with its first touchdown drive of the game, as Boone led the
Blue Devils on an 8-play, 82-yard march, capped by Brandon Connette's 4-yard
touchdown plunge late in the third.
Stanford answered early in the fourth when Nunes found Patterson for a 27-yard
touchdown strike to make it 50-13 and finish off the rout.
Game Notes
Terrell finished with three catches for 39 yards and also returned four punts
for 99 yards ... Williamson went 3-for-4 on field goal attempts ... Duke
punted seven times compared to three for Stanford ... Duke turned the ball
over four times.
