GAME NOTES: The Big Green of Dartmouth again shoot for their first victory in the Ivy League on Saturday night, as the squad tangles with the Yale Bulldogs at Leede Arena in New Hampshire.

Not only is Dartmouth 0-3 in league play at the moment, the team also has just four wins total in 2012-13, and one of those came against a non-Division I program in Colby-Sawyer a few weeks back. Last night, the team was taken out by Brown at home in a 62-50 final, the team's second loss in a row and the third in the last four outings. Needless to say, Dartmouth is alone in last place in the conference standings heading into action on Saturday.

As for the Bulldogs, with just one win in three chances versus the rest of the Ivy squads, they are tied with Cornell and Columbia for fifth place in the standings at the moment. Last night, the squad came up short in a 67-64 comeback bid versus Harvard on the road. The defeat means Yale has now alternated wins and losses over the last seven games.

Yale leads the all-time series between these two teams by a count of 106-94, having won seven in a row and 11 of the last 12 matchups overall. Also boding well for the Bulldogs is the fact that they have taken five of the last six contests played in this building.

Trailing by 13 points at the half against Harvard, the Bulldogs put themselves in a difficult position on the road last night, but fought back in the second half to make things interesting for sure. The defense forced 15 turnovers and watched as the hosts made only 13-of-22 at the free-throw line, but at the same time permitted the Crimson to knock down 54.8 percent from the floor and 8-of-13 beyond the arc. Armani Cotton was the lone double-digit scorer for the visitors with his 14 points as he connected on all but one of his six field goal chances. The effort by Cotton was somewhat unexpected given that he is averaging less than six points per game this season. Austin Morgan, the only player on the team to have started every game, is responsible for 11.4 ppg, but he is shooting just 35.7 percent from the floor and that falls far below the unit's overall accuracy of 41.3 percent. Part of the problem last night for the Bulldogs was they were without Justin Sears (10.6 ppg) for an undisclosed reason and he is their second-leading scorer and top rebounder with 6.4 rpg.

Dartmouth fell behind right out of the chute against the Bears on Friday night as the visitors shot 61.9 percent from the floor in the first half, 52.2 percent for the game. After trailing by double figures at the break, Dartmouth tried to fight back in the second half with 58.8 percent from the field, including 5-of-7 beyond the arc, yet somehow the Big Green was outscored by another two points in the period. Connor Boehm led the way for the squad with his 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor, but he was the only one to make more than three baskets and end up with double figures. Scoring points has not been a strength of this group in 2012-13, averaging just 60.6 ppg, as Gabas Maldunas represents the only double-digit scorer over the course of 17 games with his 10.5 ppg. Maldunas is also the top rebounder for the group with just over six boards per contest, but with him getting his hands on the ball so often, it doesn't help that he is shooting just 50.0 percent at the free- throw line.

Neither one of these teams is a scoring juggernaut, but if Sears is again out of action for the Bulldogs that might just open the door wide enough for Dartmouth to slip through for that elusive first Ivy League win of the season.
