GAME NOTES: It's a showdown between Virginia schools, as George Mason and James Madison square off on the hardwood in a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at the JMU Convocation Center.

After a 58-54 loss to the Drexel Dragons, the Patriots have lost two in a row following a three-game winning streak. This is the first of two games on the road for George Mason, but the team doesn't have to leave Virginia, facing Old Dominion after the Dukes.

JMU is coming off a 62-41, win over Hofstra to start its current three-game homestand. It was the fourth win in a row for the Dukes who are in second place in the CAA at 7-3.

While James Madison leads the all-time series 49-44, the Patriots have won the past eight meetings and earned a 68-57 win just a few weeks ago in Fairfax on Jan. 15.

The Patriots played tough against the Dragons but despite holding them to 58 points, no one could match the 29-point, nine-rebound performance that Damion Lee supplied for Drexel. For George Mason, Sherrod Wright was the high scorer with 15 points, while Jonathan Arledge supplied 14 points and five rebounds. Wright has been electric for the Patriots this season, averaging 17.9 ppg and shooting just under 50.0 percent from the field. Although Wright has been great, no other George Mason player is averaging over 7.0 ppg this year, as the team is scoring 64.4 ppg. Defense has been the team's key, holding opponents to 62.4 ppg and under 40.0 percent shooting from the field.

The Dukes went on a 16-2 run in the second half against Hofstra to pull away for the win. Rayshawn Goins led all scorers with 16 points, while pulling down a game-high seven rebounds. Andre Nation and Charles Cooke added 13 points each, as Nation dished out four assists and Cooke shot 5-of-5 from the floor. JMU earned a 36-21 rebounding edge in the game and forced Hofstra into just 33.3 percent shooting from the field and 18.8 percent from 3-point range. Goins leads the squad in scoring this year with 13.8 ppg and also leads the team in rebounding with 7.9 boards per game. He has 101 rebounds more than any other JMU player. Devon Moore is averaging 10.1 ppg, but the team is missing Andrey Semenov (10.0 ppg), who has played in just seven games this season.

Although JMU has been dominant at home (8-2), the Patriots are a .500 team away from home and are looking for the season sweep of the Dukes. With another big performance from Wright, they could begin their climb in the CAA standings and increase their winning streak over JMU to nine games.
