Valparaiso, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike McCall, Jr. made a tip-in at the buzzer to lift the Saint Louis Billikens to a 67-65 triumph over the Valparaiso Crusaders in a non-conference tilt at the ARC.
Dwayne Evans tallied a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Jordair Jett contributed 19 points and nine assists for Saint Louis (8-2), which has won back-to-back games. Grandy Glaze came off the bench to pour in 14 points.
For Valparaiso (6-5), LaVonte Dority tied a game-high with 21 points, while Bobby Capobianco logged 14 points and eight rebounds. Moussa Gueye scored just six points but he chipped in 13 rebounds and four blocks for the hosts.
Saint Louis controlled the first half, shooting 51.7 percent from the field to Valparaiso's 34.6 percent, as it carried a 39-30 lead into intermission.
The Billikens' advantage was 12 with under 13 minutes to play before the Crusaders made their charge. Trailing by two with just five seconds left, Dority made a layup to tie the game at 65. After a timeout, Saint Louis held possession and Rob Loe missed a layup, but McCall, Jr. tipped in the miss before the buzzer sounded to give the Billikens the thrilling victory.
Valparaiso was plagued by 17 turnovers, which turned into 15 points for Saint Louis. The Billikens committed just six miscues themselves.
