Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Frantz Massenat led the way with 21 points as the Drexel Dragons tamed the Tennessee State Tigers, 75-61, in a non-conference matchup at the Daskalakis Center.
For the Dragons (6-2), Chris Fouch added 20 points and Kazembe Abif finished with 11 points.
Patrick Miller led the Tigers (0-10) with 21 points while M.J. Rhett posted a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Drexel was hot from the field in the first half, connecting on 59.3 percent of its field goal tries, including 6-of-14 from 3-point distance. After trailing early, the Dragons used an 11-2 run midway through the first to help take a 40-28 lead at the break. Tennessee State made just 43.5 percent of its shots from the field in the opening period, missing all three of its 3-point attempts.
The Tigers shot much better after halftime, making 52 percent of their field goal attempts. The Dragons cooled off in the second, making only 34.8 percent of their field goal tries, though they outscored the Tigers 16-5 from the free-throw line in the half. The Tigers got as close as six with under seven minutes to play but the Dragons were able to pull away again and cruise to victory.
The Tigers dominated down low, outscoring the Dragons in the paint, 36-22. Drexel outrebounded the Tigers, 34-25.
