NCAA Game Summary - Texas vs. Temple

(Saturday, December 7)

Final Score: Texas 81, Temple 80 (OT)

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Javan Felix's 3-pointer in the final seconds of overtime lifted the Texas Longhorns to a dramatic, 81-80 win over the Temple Owls in non-conference action from the Wells Fargo Center.

Jonathan Holmes paced the Longhorns (8-1) with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Isaiah Taylor scored 15 in the win. Cameron Ridley (eight rebounds, three blocks) and Prince Ibeh (six rebounds, four blocks) rounded out the UT players in double figures, with 11 points apiece.

Anthony Lee posted a game- and career-high 23 points and 14 rebounds for the Owls (4-4). Dalton Pepper was next in line with 20 points, followed by Will Cummings with 13, and Quenton DeCosey (seven assists, three steals) with 11.

The Longhorns led by as many as 16 at the 8:27 mark of the first half, and they eventually took a 48-37 halftime lead into the locker room behind a 51.4- percent shooting effort from the floor.

Temple put together a 17-4 run in the second half and claimed a 73-70 lead with two and a half minutes to play in regulation. However, the Owls did not score again in regulation, while the Longhorns made 3-of-4 free throws down the stretch to force overtime.

With Temple clinging to a 79-78 lead with 13.6 seconds remaining in the extra session, Pepper was sent to the foul line to attempt two free throws. He made the first, but the second make was taken off the board as Pepper was whistled for a lane violation, leaving Temple with a two-point lead. The Owls were slow to get set defensively, and UT's Felix made them pay with a go-ahead 3-pointer with eight seconds on the clock. The Owls had one final desperation heave at the other end that ultimately bounced off the rim.

The Owls hurt themselves by making only 15-of-31 free throws (.484) for the game, as they suffered their first OT loss since the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
