Fayetteville, AR (SportsNetwork.com) - Michael Qualls scored 17 points off the bench as the Arkansas Razorbacks held on for a 74-68 victory over the Clemson Tigers in a non-conference matchup at Bud Walton Arena.
Qualls nailed 6-of-7 from the field and finished with six rebounds for Arkansas (6-2), which has won 19-straight games at home. Rashad Madden added 14 points and Bobby Portis tacked on 13 more.
K.J. McDaniels posted a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds for Clemson (7-2), which was playing in its first true road game. Damarcus Harrison chipped in 13 points on just 5-of-14 shooting before fouling out and Rod Hall recorded 10 points and four assists. Sidy Djitte came off the bench to secure 10 rebounds before also fouling out.
The Razorbacks had a 40-32 lead at halftime. Arkansas hit on 46.4 percent of its field goal tries, including 8-of-13 from 3-point range, during the first 20 minutes. The Tigers fell behind, knocking down just 33.3 percent from the floor.
In the second half the Razorbacks cooled to 39.1 percent shooting but it was enough to overcome the Tigers, who struggled yet again, connecting on just 32.4 percent from the field in the frame.
Clemson lost despite dominating inside, outscoring the Tigers 34-12 in the paint and holding a 45-30 advantage on the boards. Arkansas had the edge from 3-point range (30-9).
