Bowling Green, KY (Sports Network) - T.J. Price posted a team-best 17 points as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers held on to defeat the Troy Trojans, 65-61, in a Sun Belt Conference bout at E.A. Diddle Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Hilltoppers (12-11, 6-6 Sun Belt) were Aleksejs Rostov and George Fant with 14 and 13 points, respectively, the latter also claiming a game-high nine rebounds as they snapped a three-game slide.
The Trojans (9-13, 4-7) were paced by Hunter Williams with 23 points, shooting 5-of-8 behind the 3-point line, while Ray Chambers produced 18 points as the team had a two-game win streak snapped.
Troy managed to move out to an eight-point lead less than five minutes into the meeting, yet even with 50.0 percent shooting from the floor in the first half the team was still behind by one at the break, 32-31.
In the second half WKU pushed the lead to as many as nine points midway through, but had to weather a series of 3-point tries late in order to capture the four-point win.
The Trojans were outscored at the free-throw line on the night, 12-3.
