Evansville, IN (Sports Network) - Ceola Clark scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half as the Western Illinois Leathernecks defeated the Buffalo Bulls, 67-58, in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic at Ford Center.
Clark shot 5-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-6 from three-point range, while also adding five rebounds and a four assists for the Leathernecks (2-0), who will play the host team Evansville on Saturday. Terell Parks tallied 12 points, eight boards, and three blocks, and Adam Link chipped in with 10 points.
For Buffalo (1-3), Will Regan and Javon McCrea each scored 13 points, and Jarod Oldham recorded 11 points and a team-high six assists. The Bulls will face off against Yale on Saturday.
The teams spent most of the first half within one possession of one another, with Western Illinois taking a slim 32-31 advantage into intermission.
Buffalo took a 38-37 lead at the 16:19 mark of the second half, but the Leatherneck proceeded to go on a 10-2 run over the next seven minutes and they never trailed from that point forward.
Western Illinois shot 46.3 percent from the floor in the game, while Buffalo connected on less than 39 percent of its field goal attempts.
