Ann Arbor, MI (Sports Network) - Tim Kamczyc scored a career-high 21 points as he helped guide the Cleveland State Vikings to a thrilling 79-73 overtime victory against the Bowling Green Falcons as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off at Crisler Arena.
Kamczyc made good on 5-of-10 shots behind the three-point line for Cleveland State as the team moved to 2-0 on the campaign. Sebastian Douglas accounted for 16 points, Charlie Lee 14 and a game-high 10 assists, followed by Marlin Mason with a double-double of his own consisting of 11 points and a game-high 13 boards. Before fouling out, Anton Grady chipped in 10 points in 20 minutes of action.
The Falcons (1-1) were paced by A'uston Calhoun who delivered a game-high 30 points and pulled down seven rebounds in defeat. Luke Kraus tacked on 10 points as he shot just 2-of-7 from the floor.
Cleveland State opened the meeting on a 7-0 run, but ended up shooting just 38.7 percent from the floor in the first half and found itself tied at the break, 33-33, as a result.
In the second half it was BGSU that opened with a 7-0 run, but a jumper by Lee with just over 30 seconds remaining in regulation tied the game at 66-66 and sent it into overtime.
In the extra session the Vikings scored four points off turnovers and took advantage at the free-throw line with a perfect 6-of-6 showing to seal the win.
CSU won the battle of the boards, 45-38, and knocked down 9-of-20 behind the three-point line in the contest.
The Vikings now wait for their second-round opponent to be determined between nationally-ranked Michigan and IUPUI.
