NCAA Game Summary - Notre Dame at DePaul

Rosemont, IL (Sports Network) - Jack Cooley had a game-high 26 points and 16 rebounds, as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish held on for a 79-71 overtime victory against the DePaul Blue Demons in a Big East Conference tilt at Allstate Arena.
It marked the 14th double-double of the season for Cooley as well as his fifth straight game with double-digit rebounds. Eric Atkins had 16 points and Jerian Grant scored 10 to help the Fighting Irish (18-4, 6-3 Big East) notch their fourth win in their last five outings.
The Blue Demons (10-11, 1-7) suffered their sixth consecutive loss despite all five starters finishing in double figures. Brandon Young led the way with 15 points, while Cleveland Melvin (10 rebounds) and Jamee Crockett both scored 13, and Donnavan Kirk and Charles McKinney finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
DePaul jumped out to a 10-3 lead, but Notre Dame weathered the early storm and went ahead, 13-12, on a layup by Pat Connaughton at the 11:34 mark. The Fighting Irish went on to shoot 50 percent from the floor in the opening frame and they took a 39-30 halftime lead into the locker room.
The Irish led by as many as 12 with 16:29 to play in regulation, although they made only six more field goals for the rest of the period. With the score tied at 70-70, UND held out for the final possession of regulation, but Grant missed a step-back 3-pointer as time expired.
Atkins took over in overtime by scoring the first five points of the period. He would account for seven of UND's nine points in the extra session, while DePaul managed only a single point.
The game featured seven ties and 13 lead changes. The Fighting Irish held a key 21-13 scoring edge at the foul line.
