Rosemont, IL (Sports Network) - Cashmere Wright scored 20 points and handed out seven assists as the Cincinnati Bearcats fought back to capture a 75-70 win over the DePaul Blue Demons in a Big East Conference battle at Allstate Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Bearcats (15-3, 3-2 Big East) were Sean Kilpatrick and JaQuon Parker with 18 and 12 points, respectively, as they won their second straight outing.
The Blue Demons (10-7, 1-3) were led by Cleveland Melvin who tallied a game- high 32 points, shooting 14-of-20 from the floor, while adding eight boards in the team's fourth setback in the last five contests. Brandon Young dropped in 18 points and Charles McKinney 10.
DePaul opened game on a 13-2 run, but that advantage didn't last long and eventually the team fell behind at intermission by three points, 41-38. While the Blue Demons connected on an impressive 54.8 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes, the Bearcats erupted with 66.7 percent accuracy in the frame.
In the second half the Cincinnati lead ballooned to 14 points just over five minutes into the period, but because the visitors shot only 13-of-24 at the free-throw line, it allowed DePaul to close the gap.
The Bearcats survived despite converting 19-of-31 at the charity stripe and turning the ball over 19 times on the night.
