Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Rotnei Clarke finished with 15 points to lead the Butler Bulldogs over the Ball State Cardinals, 67-53, in non-conference action at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
For the Bulldogs (5-2), Andrew Smith added 12 points and Khyle Marshall scored 10 points.
Jesse Berry led the Cardinals (2-4) with 12 points and Majok Majok pulled down 10 rebounds.
Ball State connected on 50 percent from the field in the first half. Butler could manage just 37.1 on its field goal attempts, but was able to stay in the game by forcing seven turnovers, as the teams entered halftime knotted at 33-33.
The Cardinals struggled in the second half, shooting just 36.8 percent from the field, while the Bulldogs improved to 44.1 percent. After trailing by three in the opening minute of the second half, the Bulldogs went on a 23-7 run to build their largest lead at 59-40, as they cruised to the easy victory.
The Bulldogs converted 19 Cardinal turnovers into 27 points. Butler held a slight edge in the paint, outscoring Ball State 38-30.
