NCAA Game Summary - Penn vs. Fairfield

Final Score: Fairfield 62, Penn 53
Charlottesville, VA (Sports Network) - Derek Needham totaled 14 points to lead
the Fairfield Stags to a 62-53 decision over the Penn Quakers in the first-
ever meeting between the schools at the South Regional consolation game of the
NIT Preseason Tip-Off.
Maurice Barrow and Colin Nickerson added 10 points apiece for the Stags (2-1),
who lost to Virginia on Monday.
Fran Dougherty poured in a career-high 31 points to go with 10 rebounds for
the Quakers (1-2), who fell to Delaware one day prior.
Fairfield limited Penn to 33.3 percent shooting in the first half and led
33-28 at the break.
Dougherty's layup early in the second half pulled the Quakers within one, but
the Stags pulled away for good with a 12-2 run, ending on Nickerson's lay-in
just prior to the midway point which provided a 45-34 advantage.
Penn was only able to close the gap to nine thereafter.
