Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Robert Olson scored a game-high 18 points as the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds grabbed a 68-64 win over the Canisius Golden Griffins in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Reitz Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Greyhounds (18-9, 10-5 MAAC) were Dylon Cormier and Julius Brooks with 17 and 13 points, respectively, as they won for the third time in four games.
The Golden Griffs (16-10, 9-6) were led by Chris Manhertz who registered a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, while Jordan Heath responded with 15 points and nine boards and Billy Baron 14 points for the visitors as they bowed for the second time in three games.
Canisius led by as many as four points early in the meeting, but the team shot just 38.5 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes of action, compared to 53.6 percent for Loyola as the host moved out to a 37-32 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Griffs knocked down an even 50 percent from the floor, but the Greyhounds proved to be just too strong in the four-point decision.
In addition to shooting only 6-of-21 beyond the arc on the night, the visitors also hurt themselves with 17 turnovers.
