Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - Jordan Miller scored 24 points to lead the Furman Paladins to a 77-69 victory over the Utah Valley State Wolverines in the consolation game of the Golden Bear Classic at Haas Pavilion.
Amu Saaka added 22 points and nine boards for Furman (6-6), while Brandon Sebirumbi tallied 11 points in the win.
Corey Claitt posted 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists for Utah Valley State (6-7), while Shawn Deadwiler also netted 16 points. Justin Baker contributed 14 points, while Jourdain Scoubes chipped in 11 points in the losing effort.
Furman went into the break with a 38-28 advantage after holding Utah Valley State to a lowly 36.1 percent shooting effort from the floor in the opening half.
The Paladins continued their strong play in the second stanza, shooting 55.0 percent from the field, en route to the eight-point win.
