Balanced attack leads Dream past Mystics
Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Four Atlanta starters scored between 14 and 16 points and the Dream got past the Washington Mystics, 75-67, on Sunday.
Angel McCoughtry and Erika de Souza netted 16 apiece, Sancho Lyttle scored 15 and Tiffany Hayes put up 14 to help Atlanta to its fourth straight win. The other six players that logged minutes combined for just 14 points.
Atlanta jumped out to a 21-14 lead after one and extended the spread to 11 points early in the second following de Souza's layup at 6:45. The lead hovered between six and 11 for the rest of the half.
The Dream managed just eight points in the third period on a putrid 1-of-13 shooting, but they dominated on the glass and did enough defensively to carry a two-point lead into the fourth.
Lyttle scored 10 in the final period on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting. Her back- to-back baskets highlighted a late 8-0 push to pull away.
Bria Hartley led Washington with 13 points in defeat.
