Missouri's Alvarez named MISL Player of Week
Independence, MO (Sports Network) - Missouri forward Byron Alvarez totaled 13 points in two matches, the most scored in that span by any player this season, to lead the Comets to two victories and claim the Major Indoor Soccer League's Player of the Week award.
Alvarez notched his league-leading fourth hat trick in Friday night's 11-6 win over the Omaha Vipers. He also had the match-winning goal, his fourth of the year - which also leads the league.
Alvarez then had a three-point goal, a two-point goal and two assists in the Comets' 23-7 win at the Chicago Riot on Saturday.
The Baltimore Blast defeated Chicago, 16-13, on Sunday in the weekend's other game. Baltimore leads the MISL standings, with Milwaukee two points behind in second place.
