Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - Luis Silva scored early in the first half as
Toronto FC defeated the New England Revolution, 1-0, on Saturday at Gillette
Stadium for its first back-to-back wins in MLS this season.
Toronto (4-11-4) beat Vancouver Whitecaps FC, 3-2, on Wednesday. Over its last
10 matches, TFC - which lost its first nine fixtures - has four wins and four
ties against just two losses.
New England (6-8-4) had its five-match unbeaten streak snapped, as it lost for
the first time at home since a 2-1 setback to D.C. United on April 14.
TFC built on its last-minute win over Vancouver as Silva deposited a pass from
Danny Koevermans to the lower right less than 10 minutes into the game against
Koevermans, who notched his first assist of the season, fired wide of the post
in the 14th as Toronto missed a chance to extend its lead.
New England played well after it settled down, but when Shalrie Joseph slotted
the ball into the net late in the match with his hand - a goal that was called
back - it was the closest the Revolution came to earning a point.
Both clubs return to action Wednesday as Toronto hosts the Colorado Rapids and
New England visits the Montreal Impact.
