Atletico boss Simeone signs new deal

Madrid, Spain (Sports Network) - Atletico Madrid announced Tuesday that manager Diego Simeone has signed a new deal with the club, keeping him at the Vicente Calderon through the 2016-17 season.

"The club have reached an agreement that seals continuity and keeps the Atletico coach on the bench until 2017," read a statement on Atletico's official website. "Atletico Madrid and Diego Pablo Simeone have agreed to renew the coach for the next four seasons."

Simeone joined Atletico in December 2011 and has since become one of the game's most respected bosses. The former Argentina international won the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup in the first six months of his tenure and has helped the Rojiblancos to a second-place position for the majority of the La Liga season this term.
