Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Moses Mosop of Kenya captured the men's title at the Chicago Marathon in a course-record two hours, five minutes and 37 seconds on Sunday.
Mosop, who won his first major marathon, bested fellow countryman Sammy Wanjiru's previous mark set in 2009 by four seconds.
Wesley Korir (2:06:15) and Bernard Kipyego (2:06:29), both from Kenya, placed second and third, respectively. Ethiopia's Bekana Daba finished fourth, followed by American Ryan Hall.
Russia's Liliya Shobukhova won the women's title for the third straight year, posting a time of 2:18:20. Ejegayehu Dibaba of Ethiopia was nearly four minutes off Shobukhova's pace, while Japan's Kayoko Fukushi was 6:18 behind in third place.
