Davis, White win record sixth straight ice dance title

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Heavy favorites Meryl Davis and Charlie White won their record sixth straight dance title Saturday at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships at TD Garden.

After posting a record-breaking score of 80.69 during Friday's short dance, the duo picked up 119.50 points during Saturday's free dance, giving them a total of 200.19 points to take the top spot for the event.

The victory assured the pair, which won silver at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, of a spot in Sochi for the upcoming Olympics.

Madison Chock and Evan Bates, along with siblings Maia and Alex Shibutani are expected to join Davis and White in Sochi after they finished second and third, respectively.

Chock and Bates finished with 181.44 points after posting a score of 108.03 in the free dance, while the Shibutanis secured third with a total score of 170.44 following Saturday's performance.

The U.S. Olympic figure skating teams for Sochi will be announced Sunday, with the top three in dance expected -- but not guaranteed -- to get spots.
