Irving highlights USA Basketball select team roster

Colorado Springs, CO (Sports Network) - Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving was among 13 players chosen for the 2012 USA men's select team.

The squad will train against the U.S. men's national team as it prepares for the 2012 London Olympics from July 6-12 in Las Vegas.

Joining Irving, this season's NBA Rookie of the Year, on the select team will be Washington's John Wall, Ryan Anderson of Orlando, San Antonio's DeJuan Blair and Kawhi Leonard, Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins, Toronto's DeMar DeRozan, Utah's Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward, Indiana's Paul George, Chicago's Taj Gibson, Golden State's Klay Thompson and Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks.

"The USA select team was a vital part of the USA men's national team's training in 2007, 2008 and 2010, and again in 2012 we'll utilize this team of select NBA players to help get our national team ready for the very competitive summer that is ahead of us," said USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo.

Former Toronto Raptors head coach Jay Triano will guide the squad along with current Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins.

Previous members of the USA select team include current national team finalists Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love and Andre Iguodala.
