Beijing, China (Sports Network) - Germany edged Spain 1-0 in the final of the men's field hockey tournament to win the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.
Christopher Zeller scored the game's only goal in the 16th minute -- on the first of his team's two penalty corners -- to lead Germany to its first Olympic gold medal in men's field hockey since the 1992 Barcelona Games.
"Unbelievable, just unbelievable," said forward Florian Keller. "We need time to grasp that we really won the gold medal."
Spain claimed the silver medal and Australia beat the Netherlands 6-2 for the bronze.
