Description: Penguins center Sidney Crosby (jaw) will make his return to action Friday in Game 2 of the team's first-round playoff series against the Islanders, according to Penguins.nhl.com.
Insight: Crosby hasn't played since breaking his jaw after being hit with a puck on March 30 against these same Islanders. Crosby still finished third in the NHL in scoring with 56 points, but the injury most definitely cost him the title. His return adds more firepower to a team that just blew out the Isles 5-0 in Game 1.

Description: Penguins center Sidney Crosby wasn't able to partcipate in Wednesday's Game 1 against the Islanders. He's still recovering from a broken jaw.

Description: Pittsburgh center Sidney Crosby won't appear in Saturday's regular season finale versus the Hurricanes. Crosby, who broke his jaw late last month, was recently cleared to begin practicing again.

Description: Pittsburgh center Sidney Crosby could miss the rest of the regular season after undergoing oral surgery on Saturday. SOURCE: Rob Rossi, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
Insight: Crosby broke his jaw Saturday after taking a puck to the face. Fortunately the Pens just acquired Jarome Iginla, who should fill some of the scoring void in Crosby's absence. When Crosby was out last season with a concussion, Pittsburgh often started a line of Evgeni Malkin, James Neal and Chris Kunitz.

3/30/2013 5:58:00 PM
Description: Penguins center Sidney Crosby went to the hospital for oral surgery after taking a puck to the mouth Saturday against New York.
Insight: Crosby left the game early in the first period and did not return. We're not sure how long this injury will keep him sidelined but the good news is that the Penguins don't play again until Tuesday. Even without Crosby for most of the afternoon, Pittsburgh was still able to fend off the Islanders for a 2-0 victory. The win extended Pittsburgh's win streak to 15 straight games.

Description: Sidney Crosby is heating up. The Penguins center scored twice Friday in a 4-2 loss at Winnipeg.
Insight: It's Crosby's first multi-goal game since April 3rd against the Bruins. As long as he can stay healthy, Crosby should be among the league leaders in just about every offensive category this season.

1/23/2013 9:52:00 PM
Description: Pittsburgh center Sidney Crosby scored his first goal of the season on Wednesday. He also had an assist.
Insight: Unfortunately for Penguins fans, the goal came in a 5-2 loss to Toronto. Crosby finished the night with five shots on goal and two penalty minutes.

6/28/2012 4:32:00 PM
Description: Penguins center Sidney Crosby will sign a 12-year, $104.4 million contract extension Sunday. The deal will begin after next season, meaning Crosby will be with the Penguins through the 2024-25 season.
Insight: The Penguins are taking quite a risk on a player who has played just 63 games combined in the past two seasons, but they really had no choice. When he's on the ice, Crosby is arguably the best player in the sport. Fantasy owners will have to make an equally difficult decision as to whether they'll draft Crosby next season, albeit with much less money going toward the Penguins center than Pittsburgh is giving him.

3/26/2012 1:21:00 PM
Description: Sidney Crosby had a goal and an assist vs. the Devils on Sunday. It was Crosby's second-straight game with both a goal and an assist.
Insight: Crosby has 13 points in seven games since he returned on March 15, but he hadn't scored a goal since Nov. 21 before he put one in the net on Saturday. It's nice to see him repeat that scoring effort yesterday.
