Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Shawn Horcoff tallied a goal and an assist and Ryan Smyth converted the game-winning goal on a penalty shot as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Nashville Predators, 4-2, at Rexall Place.
Jason Smith and Jarret Stoll both scored goals and Jussi Markkanen made 29 saves for the Oilers, who snapped a two-game skid.
"We really played a pretty solid game overall," said Markkanen. "I definitely felt good. Of course a couple of goals you could stop, but other than that I felt good and saw the puck really well."
Scott Hartnell and Steve Sullivan scored a goal apiece and Tomas Vokoun stopped 31 shots for Nashville, which has lost two straight following a six- game winning streak.
Edmonton jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 68 seconds into the second period after Horcoff unleashed a turn-around wrist shot from the left circle that went off a skate in front of Vokoun and in.

The Oilers regained the lead midway through the second period after Smith beat Vokoun with a shot from along the right half-wall that made it 2-1.
Edmonton upped its lead to 3-1 after Smyth scored on a penalty shot 1:23 into the third period. Smyth deked to his backhand before pulling the puck back to his forehand, beating Vokoun just inside the post.
"Defensively we didn't do a very good job," said Predators forward Paul Kariya. "But over all it was just lack of a 60-minute effort."
The Predators got back within one with just over five minutes remaining in the contest after Sullivan beat Markkanen stick side with a wrist shot from inside the right circle to make it 3-2.
However, the Oilers regained a two-goal advantage less than two minutes later while on a two-man advantage after Stoll one-timed a slap shot from the high slot past Vokoun for a 4-2 lead.
