Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Jochen Hecht's goal midway through the second period proved to be the game winner as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 4-2, at HSBC Arena.

Buffalo extended its lead to 3-1 with 7:42 left in the second frame when Hecht's shot from the right circle caromed into the air and dropped into the crease where it went off Knuble's right skate and past Esche.

The Flyers drew back within one with 3:20 left in the third period after Knuble knocked down a clearing attempt by Miller along the right half wall and put a shot on goal that deflected off of Miller's right pad and in as he scrambled back into the net to make it 3-2.

Philadelphia pulled Esche with over a minute to go in regulation, but Buffalo's Pominville scored an empty-netter with 7.1 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Sabres.
