Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Mike Grier scored the game-winning goal with 4.6 seconds left in regulation to lift the Buffalo Sabres to a 6-5 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wachovia Center.

Jochen Hecht tallied a goal and three assists and Daniel Briere and Jean- Pierre Dumont registered a goal and two assists apiece for Buffalo, which has won five straight games. Teppo Numminen scored his first goal of the year and Chris Drury added a goal and an assist for the Sabres.

Ryan Miller made 15 saves before being replaced by Martin Biron at the start of the third period. Biron finished with one save.

Sami Kapanen notched a goal and an assist and Antero Niittymaki made 33 saves for the Flyers, who have lost five of their last seven games. Philadelphia's only two wins during that stretch came in shootouts.

Brian Savage, Simon Gagne, Mike Richards and Mike Knuble also lit the lamp for the Flyers.

Tied 5-5 late in the third period, Grier beat Niittymaki with a one-timer to seal the win for Buffalo. Derek Roy found Grier with a backhand pass from behind the Flyers' net for the game-winner.

Philadelphia drew first blood 3:50 into the first period after Knuble's wrister from the right circle beat Miller top shelf for a 1-0 lead. The Flyers made it 2-0 midway through the opening frame while shorthanded after Kapanen beat Miller with a snap shot from inside the left circle.

Buffalo got on the scoreboard 15 seconds into the middle frame after Dumont tapped a pass into a gaping net for his 14th goal of the season to make it 2-1. The Sabres tied the game at the 4:42 mark of the second period after Hecht banked a shot off of a prone Niittymaki and in.

Philadelphia regained the lead just over three minutes later after Savage capped a 3-on-2 rush with a slap shot from the top of the left circle for a shorthanded tally and a 3-2 lead.

Buffalo retied the contest midway through the second period while on the power play after Briere pulled the puck around Niittymaki and tucked it just inside the post to make it 3-3.

The Sabres took their first lead of the game at the 12:13 mark of the second period after Numminen gathered a loose puck in the slot and batted a shot that got past Niittymaki stick side for a 4-3 lead.

The Flyers tied the game with less than five minutes remaining in the second period after Gagne beat Miller top shelf glove side with a wrister from inside the left circle to make it 4-4.

Philadelphia regained a 5-4 lead with 30.8 ticks left in the second period after Richards' one-timer from the slot beat Miller through the five-hole and capped a 3-on-2 rush.

Buffalo netted the equalizer 5:06 into the third period while on the power play after Drury beat Niittymaki over the right shoulder with a wrister from below the left circle to make it 5-5.

Game Notes

Buffalo is 3-0 against Philly this season and now leads the Flyers by seven points for fourth-place in the Eastern Conference...Numminen scored his first goal since February 29, 2004 when he was a member of the Dallas Stars...This was Buffalo's 20th one-goal win of the season...The Flyers were outshot 14-1 in the third period and 39-21 for the game...Philadelphia finished 0-for-3 on the power-play, while Buffalo went 2-for-7.
