NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Los Angeles

(Saturday, November 30th)

Final Score: Calgary 2, Los Angeles 1

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Cammalleri's backhander with 23 seconds left lifted the Calgary Flames to a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

Cammalleri took a pass from Mikael Backlund in front of the net and managed to shovel a backhander past Ben Scrivens as he fell to the ice. Karri Ramo was able to hold strong the rest of the way to seal the win.

Blair Jones also scored and Ramo made 21 saves in the win, Calgary's first in three tries.

"To get the win was special. We wanted to get a big one for them [the fathers] tonight, and against a good team," Cammalleri said.

Many of the fathers of the Flames' players were in attendance.

Justin Williams notched the lone goal for the Kings, losers in four of their last five.

"He played an outstanding game for us and part of the reason why he played so well is the way he works every day, because he did not play for quite a while and watching this guy in practice and in the gym, I knew that he would be ready and he deserves big credit," Calgary coach Bob Hartley said.

Jones opened up the scoring with his short-handed goal at the 15:50 mark of the second period. The Flames dumped the puck into the LA zone and Scrivens tripped as he attempted to control the puck. Paul Byron was able to get to the loose disc and fire to Jones, who shoveled it into the empty net.

With 4 1/2 minutes left, Williams skated in along the right side and fired a wrister past Ramo from the right circle to tie the game.
