NHL Game Summary - Florida at Toronto

(Tuesday, December 17th)

Final Score: Florida 3, Toronto 1

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Sean Bergenheim scored and had an assist and Aleksander Barkov had a pair off helpers to lead the Florida Panthers to a 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.

Tomas Fleischmann and Brad Boyes also scored and Scott Clemmensen stopped 28 shots for the Panthers, winners in four straight.

"They were on the road last night and came in late...so we have to take advantage. We got some goals early and it was kind of big to get that momentum," said Boyes.

Mason Raymond tallied the lone goal for the Maple Leafs, losers in five of their last six games. James Reimer allowed all three goals on 23 shots.

"I think fatigue seemed to play a part tonight more so than last night's performance. We started flat and didn't have any energy to get involved. All the 50-50 pucks that were available to us, I would say they won the majority of them," said Toronto coach Randy Carlyle.

Fleischmann opened up the scoring 3:29 in after collecting a loose puck in the neutral zone and outracing a pair of Toronto defenders to the net before wristing the disc past Reimer.

Bergenheim potted the eventual game-winner 5:54 into the middle session. Barkov fired a shot from the circle that bounced off Bergenheim in front of the net. Bergenheim found the puck at his feet and backhanded it in for a 2-0 lead.

Boyes forced a turnover in the Toronto zone, but had his wide open shot turned away by Reimer. Bergenheim was there to collect the rebound and shoveled a quick pass back to Boyes, who was able to beat Reimer this time for the three- goal lead with 3:10 left in the second.

Raymond tipped in a Peter Holland pass 3:43 into the final session to account for the final difference.
