NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Chicago
(Saturday, March 26th)
Final Score: Anaheim 2, Chicago 1
Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Corey Perry tallied a pair of third-period goals, including the winner with 4 1/2 minutes left in regulation, as Anaheim snuck past Chicago, 2-1, at United Center.
Ryan Getzlaf and Bobby Ryan each posted two assists and Ray Emery picked up the win after stopping 27-of-28 shots for the Ducks, winners in five of their last six games.
Anaheim vaulted past Chicago into seventh place in the Western Conference with 89 points.
"They're a team we we're chasing and with that win it puts us one point ahead and climbing in the standings," Perry said.
Marian Hossa tallied in the first period for the Blackhawks, who have lost five of their last eight overall. Corey Crawford was the hard-luck loser after making 23 saves.
"We're not out of it, but obviously it's a tough game to lose that one," Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith said. "Ever since Wednesday we were focusing on it, and to lose it in the third period is frustrating."
Perry finally equalized for the Ducks at the 1:07 mark of the third period, when he converted a backhanded dish by Getzlaf just inside the right post.
Anaheim then moved ahead for good with 4 1/2 remaining. Getzlaf outworked a Chicago checker behind the net to the left of Crawford, then slid a pass into the slot for Perry, who wheeled around and somehow hit the net just under the crossbar.
The Blackhawks went with an extra attacker in the final minute to no avail.
Hossa tallied with 6:36 left in the first period, beating Emery with a hot shot from between the circles.
Crawford was sharp in the second period with 14 saves, and Emery was strong at his end of the ice with 12 stops.
Perry posted his second straight multi-goal effort and third in the last four games...He has notched at least two goals in a game nine times this season en route to an NHL-best 44 goals -- one better than Steven Stamkos of Tampa Bay...The 25-year-old Perry has also scored in eight of the last nine contests and is tops on the Ducks with 85 points...Both clubs are back in action on Monday, as Anaheim returns home to host Colorado and Chicago travels to Detroit.
