NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at Calgary

(Friday, February 11th)

Final Score: Anaheim 5, Calgary 4 (OT)

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Rookie defenseman Cam Fowler scored with 18.6 seconds remaining in overtime, and the Anaheim Ducks rallied to beat the Calgary Flames, 5-4, at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Anaheim forward Teemu Selanne had tied the game with 2:07 remaining on the Ducks' lone power play, taking a pass down low from Ryan Getzlaf and beating Miikka Kiprusoff.

"We were so fortunate that we got one power play tonight and we took advantage of it and tied the hockey game," said Anaheim head coach Randy Carlyle.

In the extra session, Fowler, the 12th overall pick in the 2010 draft, whipped a backhander past the Calgary netminder.

Saku Koivu registered two goals and an assist and Selanne added three helpers for the Ducks, who have won three straight and 13 of their last 17 games. Curtis McElhinney turned aside 21 of the 25 shots he faced.

Jarome Iginla, Olli Jokinen and Curtis Glencross each had a goal and an assist for Calgary, which got 25 saves from Kiprusoff.

Despite the loss, the Flames extended their point streak to 10 games (8-0-2).

"It's definitely disappointing that we didn't win the game. We had the lead with [about] two minutes to go," said Calgary forward Brendan Morrison. "It's frustrating but I like the fact that we battled back."

Koivu put Anaheim on the board at the 13:04 mark of the first period, but Rene Bourque and Jokinen scored 41 seconds apart early in the middle frame to put Calgary ahead 2-1.

Koivu struck again at 7:34 of the second before rookie Brandon McMillan netted a short-handed goal to give the Ducks a 3-2 lead midway through the period.

Iginla drew the Flames even 5:33 into the third period, then Glencross beat McElhinney on the short side with a wrist shot from the left circle to put Calgary up 4-3 at 8:18.
