Sunrise, FL (Sports Network) - Cory Stillman finished with two goals and an assist, as the Florida Panthers took a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning at BankAtlantic Center.
Rositslav Olesz had two goals, while Bryan Allen also lit the lamp for the Panthers, who have won three of their last four. Tomas Vokoun made 47 saves in the win.
Alex Tanguay and Andrej Meszaros each had a goal for the Lightning, who have dropped four of their past six. Antero Niittymaki played the first two periods and was charged with five goals on 18 shots. Dustin Tokarski played the third period in his first NHL action and stopped all five shots he faced.
"I just couldn't stop the puck and that's why we lost. It's embarrassing," Niittymaki said.
Florida got on the board with a power-play goal just 4:07 in, as Steven Reinprecht sent a pass from the low right side to the front of the net where Stillman shot it home; Stillman then made it a 2-0 game with 9:32 left in the first when his wrister beat Niittymaki.
"We got off to a good start...and after that [Vokoun] stood on his head and was really the first star," Stillman said.
The Lightning tied the game with two consecutive goals. The first was from Tanguay at the 11:44 mark of the first, and a power-play marker off a slap shot from Meszaros with 3:29 left in the opening period.
Florida, though, took the lead back just 32 seconds later, as Allen's slapper went into the net for his third goal of the year.
Olesz made it a 4-2 game at the 5:02 mark of the second and notched his second goal of the game at the 12:36 mark of the middle stanza on a tip-in off a Keith Ballard shot.
Vokoun had to stay sharp in the third period, as Tampa threw 21 shots on net, but he was up the challenge and turned them all aside to give Florida the win.
