Robinson named associate coach in San Jose
San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks announced on Monday that Hall of Fame defenseman Larry Robinson was named associate coach.
Robinson comes over from the New Jersey Devils, where he served as an assistant coach for a club which reached the Stanley Cup Finals before dropping a six-game decision to the Los Angeles Kings.
The 61-year-old native of Ontario has logged more than 500 games as a head coach, going 209-217-11 with 64 ties for the Kings and Devils. He also served multiple stints as an assistant, primarily with New Jersey.
A six-time Cup winner with the Canadiens during his 20-year playing career with the Habs (1972-89) and Kings (1989-92), Robinson also has his name etched on the Cup three more times as a coach.
