Notes:
2006 Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year, making him the second player in league history to win the award in back-to-back years...Weddle was also a consensus All-American following his senior campaign, making him just the third player in Utah history to achieve that feat...Led the MWC and placed eighth in the nation in interceptions with a total of seven, two of which he returned for touchdowns...Weddle also accounted for 64 tackles, 2.5 stops for loss, a sack and three fumble recoveries as one of the most versatile and energetic players ever to put on a uniform for the Utes...When called upon, the all-around talent also played cornerback, quarterback, running back, holder, punt returner and kick returner, scoring a total of eight touchdowns along the way...With five rushing scores, Weddle tied for the team lead in that department...As a junior who was named First Team all-conference and was the Emerald Bowl Defensive MVP, he led the MWC with 16 passes defended and was second on the team with 11 tackles for loss, not to mention three of the unit's five forced fumbles...A heavy hitter who is not afraid to put his body on the line, Weddle was the player that the coaching staff turned to when they needed someone to lock down an offensive opponent and he rarely disappointed with hiscontinuous motor and determined play...Highly regarded by experts at the pro level, the one knock against Weddle is that he may not have a true position after spreading himself so thin the last few years with Utah.
