Description: Chargers receiver Vincent Brown will apparently be the No. 4 receiver because he is so versatility, according to beat writer Michael Gehlken.
Insight: Malcom Floyd, Eddie Royal and Keenan Allen will play the X, Y,Z spots, respectively, with Brown playing the utility role. It likely kills any fantasy value.

Description: Chargers receiver Vincent Brown has played a higher percentage of snaps than any other San Diego receiver at 93 percent, but he has just eight catches on 14 targets for 50 yards and a touchdown. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, coach Mike McCoy said that Brown's touches "will come."
Insight: "There may be something where Vincent may be number one in the progression, but a coverage changes so you do not get it to him," McCoy said. "It’s not like we’re not trying to get him the ball. It’s just Philip taking what the defense is giving him. All the receivers have done a great job of having the flexibility to move them around. In some of the no-huddle we have run, whether they are an X receiver or a Z receiver, they have done everything we've asked them to do." Brown was expected to be the Chargers most targeted receiver this season but that hasn't happened yet. Fantasy owners should not even think about using him until we see something positive on the field.

Insight: A spot opened up when Danario Alexander injured his right knee on Tuesday. A hamstring injury has caused San Diego receiver Vincent Brown to miss the team's last seven practices, but he is still the most likely starter in front of rookie Keenan Allen or veterans Eddie Royal and Robert Meachem.

Insight: He's not expected to compete in the team's preseason opener Thursday night against Seattle. Brown missed all of last season because of a fractured ankle.

6/18/2013 1:39:00 PM
Description: According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Chargers receiver Vincent Brown has stood out this spring.
Insight: "He’s not quite 6 feet tall, not quite 200 pounds, not a guy who would win a foot race against almost any cornerback," according to Union-Tribune beat writers. "But he plays tall, plays big, plays fast." Brown was impressive last preseason before breaking his ankle and missing the entire year. He could have a big year in coach Mike McCoy's short-passing offense.

Description: Don McLellan of CBSSports.com is reporting that Chargers receiver Vincent Brown has not yet healed from his broken ankle and will need at least four more weeks.
Insight: If correct, Brown won't return before the fantasy playoffs begin. It would be tough for fantasy owners to put him in their playoff lineup without having him play a single down before then.

10/11/2012 11:37:00 AM
Description: Chargers receiver Vincent Brown is expected to return from his ankle injury Week 9 against the Chiefs according to Kevin Acee of U-T San Diego.
Insight: Brown absorbed 19 catches for 329 yards as a rookie last season. Robert Meachem hasn't developed into the go-to guy San Diego was hoping for in the absence of Vincent Jackson, so Brown should see a good amount of targets when he's healthy enough to return.

9/4/2012 6:37:00 PM
Description: Chargers receiver Vincent Brown (ankle) has been placed on injured reserve, but he was given the "designated to return" tag, meaning he can come back after six weeks.
Insight: The "designated to return" tag is a new element to injured reserve this season. Brown broke his ankle on Aug. 18 and is projected to miss eight weeks after having surgery. Brown was reportedly the most impressive Chargers receiver in training camp, so he's worth a stash if you have a roster spot.

8/19/2012 10:29:00 AM
Description: San Diego Union-Tribune writer Kevin Acee confirmed that Chargers wide receiver Vincent Brown suffered a broken ankle during Saturday's game.
Insight: According to reports Brown has been the team's most impressive receiver this preseason, but he'll miss at least eight weeks after having surgery Monday. Malcom Floyd and Robert Meachem get a bump in value due to Brown's injury.

8/18/2012 10:59:00 PM
Description: Chargers wide receiver Vincent Brown was carted off the field with a left ankle injury in the team's preseason game Saturday.
Insight: According to Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Brown has been the most impressive Chargers receiver in this month's practices and games, but the injury had the look of a fracture.

8/13/2012 5:32:00 PM
Description: Chargers wide receiver Vincent Brown caught four passes for 81 yards and a touchdown in the team's first preseason game, and San Diego coach Norv Turner spoke very highly of the second-year receiver Monday.
Insight: Turner said Brown is "a guy that's going to figure real strongly in what we do," according to Chargers.com. San Diego has Malcom Floyd, Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal in addition to Brown, but it sounds like the second-year player is going to see a lot of targets from QB Philip Rivers.

6/16/2012 12:44:00 PM
Description: Management was quick to point out that Chargers second-year wideout Vincent Brown had a good OTA and "consistently stood out."
Insight: Brown received a lot of attention last season after a big game on national television against Oakland, but never backed it up with another fantasy-worthy effort. He's battling Eddie Royal for the No. 3 receiver spot behind Robert Meachem and Malcom Floyd.
