Description: Chargers DE/LB Dwight Freeney suffered a torn quadriceps in Sunday's victory over Dallas.
Insight: Freeney was injured in the second quarter and did not return. We await the decision on whether this will require a trip to the injured reserve. Larry English is the most likely candidate to take his spot in the lineup.

Description: The San Diego Chargers have agreed to a two-year deal with DE/LB Dwight Freeney, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

2/16/2013 5:39:00 PM
Description: The Indianapolis Star reports that the Colts will not re-sign linebacker Dwight Freeney this offseason.
Insight: This doesn't come as much of a surprise. Freeney's production fell dramatically this season and at 33, it wouldn't make financial sense for the Colts to sign him to a long-term deal. Freeney should attract plenty of interest on the open market given his strong track record (seven Pro Bowl selections in 11 seasons).

Description: Free agent linebacker Dwight Freeney isn't expected to return to the Colts next season. SOURCE: Peter King, Sports Illustrated.
Insight: Freeney's sack total this season (five) was his lowest since 2007. He wasn't a great fit for Chuck Pagano's 3-4 scheme in Indianapolis and would probably function better as a defensive end on a team that uses a 4-3 defensive configuration.

9/16/2012 12:46:00 PM
Description: As expected, Dwight Freeney of the Indianapolis Colts has been deemed inactive for Sunday's tilt versus the Vikings. The star defensive end suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 1's loss to Chicago.
Insight: Be careful about starting the Colts' defense with Freeney sidelined.

9/14/2012 2:45:00 PM
Description: Colts RE/OLB Dwight Freeney is expected to miss Sunday's game against Minnesota because of a high ankle sprain.
Insight: The Colts defense gave up 41 points to the Bears last week, so this is not good news unless you are starting Vikings on Sunday.

8/7/2010 8:12:00 PM
Description: The ankle injury that Colts RE Dwight Freeney played through in the Super Bowl has not affected him in training camp.

5/20/2010 10:16:00 PM
Description: Coach Jim Caldwell expects Dwight Freeney (ankle) to be ready for training camp.

2/8/2010 8:52:00 AM
Description: Freeney was active for the Super Bowl loss to the Saints on Sunday.
Insight: Freeney finished with only one tackle but recorded a sack. He started off well but was clearly less effective as the game moved along. (SportsBuff.com)

2/7/2010 10:49:00 AM
Description: Freeney is expected to play in the Super Bowl, barring any setbacks during pregame warm-ups.
Insight: Freeney missed practice on Saturday and will likely suit up for the game. However, it is certainly unclear how his ankle will hold up and how effective he will be. (SportsBuff.com)

1/31/2010 7:19:00 PM
Description: ESPN.com reports that Freeney has a torn ligament in his right ankle.
Insight: The injury could make it very difficult for him to play in the Super Bowl. Monitor the situation closely as it would certainly be a huge loss for the Colts. (SportsBuff.com)

1/19/2010 12:22:00 PM
Description: Freeney produced two sacks in the Colts' earlier meeting with the Jets, despite very limited playing time.
Insight: Freeney will get his regular workload this time around and could help to make things quite difficult for Mark Sanchez on Sunday. (SportsBuff.com)
