Selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 2003 MLB amateur draft...Spent three years in the White Sox' farm system before retiring at the end of the 2006 season...Joined the Rice football team in time for the 2007 campaign and earned several Freshman All-American honors after making 46 receptions for 585 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games...In 2008, Casey emerged as one of the most dangerous threats in all of college football and he set the Conference USA record for receptions in a season with 111...He also had 1,329 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, earning First-Team All-C-USA accolades...If thatwasn't enough, Casey also rushed for six scores and threw two more as a sophomore...Tremendous athlete with a lot of upside...Has great hands and bodycontrol...Versatile, having played countless positions on both sides of the ball at Rice...Good route runner that can make plays after the catch...Tough and not afraid to go over the middle...Lacks a second gear...Not much of a blocker...Still raw and a bit older than most prospects.
