Name  Trent Edwards
Born  10/30/1983
Height  6-4
Weight  230
College  Stanford
5/13/2012 1:35:00 PM
Description: The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that third-round selection Nick Foles will not be the backup to Michael Vick in 2012. That role will go to either Mike Kafka or Trent Edwards. It's an important spot given Vick's injury-prone history.
Insight: Edwards has made 33 NFL starts with a 14-19 record including 26 TD passes and 30 interceptions during stints at Buffalo and Jacksonville. Eagles fans and Vick's fantasy owners should already be praying that he isn't needed in 2012.
1/4/2011 1:05:00 AM
Description: Filling in for the injured David Garrard on Sunday, Edwards threw for 141 yards, a touchdown and a pick.
Insight: Edwards might have done enough to stick in Jacksonville as a backup, but the Jaguars have a collection of backups. What they need is a quality starter. (RapidDraft.com)
10/19/2010 12:54:00 AM
Description: Jags backup QB Trent Edwards threw two interceptions, completing 14 of 24 passes for 140 yards in Monday Night's loss.
Insight: Basically what Edwards proved was that if Garrard is hurt for an extended period of time, this offense is in trouble. Edwards looked lost at times and didn't complete much of anything past 10 yards. Jacksonville looked awful and was likely teasing us with their last two wins.
10/2/2010 10:13:00 AM
Description: According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, Jaguars QB Trent Edwards could begin starting games in "two or three weeks."
Insight: Todd Bouman is currently ahead of Edwards on the depth chart, but Edwards, as bad as he was in Buffalo, offers more upside. David Garrard's completion percentage has dipped over the course of the past three weeks and he has yet to throw for 200 yards in a single game. We don't see Trent Edwards being the answer. But like Carolina's John Fox, Jack Del Rio will do anything at this point to save his job.
9/28/2010 11:00:00 PM
Description: Edwards was claimed off waivers on Tuesday by Jacksonville, who will face Edwards' former team in Week 5.
Insight: We have plenty of reason to believe that the Jaguars claimed Edwards for more than just inside info on the Bills. Jacksonville needs an answer at quarterback, and although he wasn't that answer in Buffalo, Edwards is worth a shot at no real cost. (RapidDraft.com)

Insight: Todd Bouman was the lone backup behind David Garrard, so Edwards adds some depth to the position. As inconsistent as Garrard is, Edwards isn't the solution at the spot.
9/28/2010 4:01:00 PM
Description: NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports, via Twitter, that the 49ers opted not to put in a waiver claim on Edwards.
Insight: Seattle may have interest in Edwards, but any interested team may wait until he clears waivers. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: The 49ers never put in a waiver claim for QB Trent Edwards. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: San Fran was reportedly one of the team's that had interest, but we didn't see him as much of an upgrade over David Carr. Seattle also is said to have interest, but they may wait and see if Edwards clears waivers completely.
9/27/2010 4:05:00 PM
Description: The Bills released Edwards on Monday, completing a precipitous drop for the quarterback who opened the season as their starter.
Insight: The move isn't surprising. What is surprising is that a coaching staff could do such a poor job with evaluating the player and the team's situation at the position through workouts and camp. Look for a first-round passer for Buffalo come April. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: The Bills have released QB Trent Edwards. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Edwards was on the trade block, but the Bills were never going to find a trade partner after how bad Edwards looked this year. Ryan Fitzpatrick looked better in one game than Edwards did all year. Edwards could get the tires kicked somewhere else, but he won't get a shot at a starting job.
9/26/2010 12:02:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Bills are shopping Edwards in search of a trade.
Insight: Anyone feel like giving up something of significance for a likely career backup? If the other options on the roster were stronger, this could be viewed as evidence that Edwards won't get back on the field. As it is, we could see him again by Week 4. Just ignore Buffalo quarterbacks. (RapidDraft.com)

Description: The Bills reportedly have QB Trent Edwards on the trade block. SOURCE: ESPN.COM
Insight: We doubt anyone would give up anything more than a late-round pick. A team could try and resurrect Edwards' career to be a backup, but he is not on the fantasy radar if there is a taker.
9/23/2010 12:02:00 PM
Description: Edwards has already been demoted, as Ryan Fitzpatrick will head into Week 3 as the Bills' starter.
Insight: New coaching staff, same deal. It looks like all of Buffalo might be deciding that Edwards has no future as its starting quarterback. Unfortunately for them, the answer isn't on the roster. (RapidDraft.com)
9/19/2010 11:00:00 PM
Description: Edwards attempted just 18 passes in Buffalo's 27-point loss at Green Bay on Sunday, completing 11 and getting two others picked.
Insight: If Edwards is to realize fantasy value at any point, he has yet to foreshadow it. (RapidDraft.com)
8/29/2010 10:03:00 AM
Description: Trent Edwards finished 13-of-17 for 153 yards and a touchdown against the Bengals in Saturday's preseason game.
Insight: Don't be fooled here. Behind a patchwork offensive line, Edwards is set up to have a disastrous season. (RapidDraft.com)
6/25/2010 4:41:00 PM
Description: Coach Chan Gailey said Friday he already knows who will top the QB depth chart going into training camp, but he's keeping it to himself until late July.
Insight: Jeez, Chan, don't leave us in suspense here. It's going to be Edwards. (sportsBuff.com)
6/23/2010 7:34:00 PM
Description: Trent Edwards continues to take the majority of first-team reps at Bills offseason workouts.
Insight: Edwards has the starting job sewn up. Even with that assurance, he will still not be a very good fantasy quarterback for anybody. (SportsBuff.com)
6/17/2010 4:02:00 PM
Description: Bills coach Chan Gailey plans to at least have a two-deep depth chart set at quarterback by the outset of training camp.
Insight: Expect Edwards to be on top of that chart. He's still a terrible choice for a fantasy quarterback. (sportsBuff.com)
6/4/2010 7:12:00 PM
Description: Coach Chan Gailey is not expected to name a frontrunner in the quarterback derby until training camp.
Insight: As awful as Edwards is, he's still better than either Ryan Fitzpatrick or Brian Brohm. Expect him to emerge the victor of this sorry race. (sportsBuff.com)
6/2/2010 9:08:00 PM
Description: Trent Edwards has begun taking on a leadership role this offseason, according to Bills RT Cornell Green.
Insight: That's great, but the only place that Edwards will lead the Bills to is another losing season. Between his own lack of talent and the horrendous offensive line, his odds of having a good fantasy year are very long. (sportsbuff.com)
